Sleek new chopper to "represent" Ole Miss
Colonel Rebel may no longer be considered an appropriate symbol for Ole Miss, but apparently Orange County Choppers are. This Saturday, the Rebels plan to unveil a brand-new custom motorcycle--customized by Orange County Choppers with various Ole Miss insignia and features--which will lead the team onto the field at home games and be raffled off at season's end. A photo of the chopper can be viewed here.
Head coach Ed Orgeron seemed pleased as punch with the bike:
"It's fantastic," said the first-year head coach. "It's unique, powerful and sleek, and it will represent the University in a first-class manner."
Perhaps the evolution from the not-so-PC but patrician-like Colonel Rebel to a loud, rowdy, and tricked-out motorbike is fitting, giving the Rebels' transition from stoic, stately, and understated head coach David Cutcliffe to the more rambunctious and intense Ed Orgeron.
Proceeds from raffle ticket sales--tickets will go for $30 each--will benefit Ole Miss students and athletes affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The Rebels (1-1) will face Wyoming at home this Saturday at 6pm CT.
