Alabama fan stabs five Auburn students
Nathan at Golden Tornado points out this bizarre story:
A fan screaming "Roll Tide" outside a fraternity house led to a violent altercation early Saturday that left seven Auburn students injured, five with stab wounds.
Apparently the guy gets into a fight at the fraternity house, stabs a guy, and takes off. Other students chase him and ends up getting into another fight down the street, where he stabs four more Auburn students. Police don't have a suspect.
OK, I get that it's the Iron Bowl - but it's just a game.
UPDATE: Incident happened late Friday night - early Saturday morning, before the game. Corrected the above post as to time of the incident.

Can't say I'm shocked. During the course of my 4 years at Auburn I saw so many uncalled for instances of Alabama fans taking it too far. I'm sure there are Auburn fans out doing the same, but STABBING students?!?!?!?!?!?! I'm sure Bear is real prowd!

I can't remember what time this happened, but it was at the fraternity house two down from us. We could hear the ambulance coming down Magnolia Ave. Some people even saw the guy running down the street. That is a sad reflection on a wonderful tradition.

Just like bama fans, craaazy! Didn't a bama fan try to kill his son after a bama loss. If you stand outside a frat house and yell your teams war cry in a rivals town, you will get jumped. Also roll tide 2, he stabbed 5 and it is knock their teeth out, not tooth or knock out A tooth. Bama fans.

When the Auburn team was celebrating the win, we and most of the Alabama peole in the end zone, applauded the AU players. Most of us recognized we got spanked in the worst way and AU played well as was a better coached team on that day. Auburn coaches have the knack to peak their team as the season progresses. We don't at this point. Hopefully, when we can get more depth, we can make it a game again. After the game, we watched our Auburn friends roll Toomers and we had dinner and were able to keep our butter knives on the table for the most part and when we did use them (for butter) no one seemed to get nervous. I lived in Auburn for two years in the late 70s and enjoyed my experience there. I have a buddy who got his BA from Auburn and his MBA from Auburn. No incident on either campus. This is the way most fans are and Alabama and Auburn people are well aware of that fact. Becasue one fool gets with 7 other fools is no reason to label all fans.

Wow, as much as this rivalry is intense that is just uncalled for. There are some seriously messed up fans out there, speaking for a lot of schools.
Roll Tide...well last good thing our school did was...Renovating Coleman coloseum

Crazy how things like this can happen before/during/after the AU vs UA clash. I agree alcohol is likely involved in most of the incidents. I'm a "die never" AU alum and have seen some Auburn people act like major idiots at ball games, as well as Bama people. For the most part, the AU vs UA rivalry is a very good thing for the state of AL and college football. I just wish Bama could give AU a fight sometime this decade.

I am an Auburn grad, and sincerely believe that there was more to this incident than was originally reported. Yelling your team's battle cry is no excuse for a frat-boy beatdown, or any type of confrontation. I don't think that stabbing someone was appropriate, but firmly believe that this guy was scared out of his mind. Every time he lashed out with that knife, he was pushing his underwear's capacity to take on additional trouser-chili.

Just to let ya'll know, this guy stabbed five of us with not one of us throwing a punch or even speaking a word to this guy. He was carrying a weapon, looking for a fight, and now after stabbing five people, nearly killing three, he will probably not face jail time according to sources. However, drinking alcohol as a minor in this town will set you back a couple grand and a few nights in jail. Just digest that!

From a bama fan: This should never have happened. But Auburn fans shouldn't think that 1 drunk's actions sums up what all bama fans are like. Things like this happens with Auburn fans too (Auburn fan killed another with a broken beer bottle). I hope that all victims recover fully and that the perpetrator is brought to justice. Sometimes this rivalry is taken WAY too seriously.

Hi. My name is Massimo, I'm a football fan from Italy. I'm planning a trip to the Us in november to watch some games. I'd like some suggestions from Tide fans. Should I buy a ticket on line (they are pretty expensive) or do I have a chance to find one cheaper at the stadium on game day from scalpers?
Anything I should look for in particular on gameday, some traditions or things like that? What's a good book to prepare for the Alabam-Auburn game, to tell me the history of this matchup?
I'll greatly appreciate any help
My mail is moriani@rcs.it
Thanks in advance
