Need Sugar Bowl tickets? Utah has plenty to sell!
In a not all together unsurprising development, Utah fans are not buying tickets to the Sugar Bowl. While the Utes pre-sold almost 10,000 tickets to this year's BCS matchup against Alabama to season ticket holders and university donors, the Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that only 2,500 tickets have been sold since the game was announced.
That means Utah is sitting on approximately 5,000 unsold Sugar Bowl tickets.
Each team receives 17,500 tickets each for the 72,000-seat arena. None were made available to the public, and the rest were divvied up among Superdome season ticket holders, corporate sponsors, conferences, broadcast partners, the NCAA and others.
By contrast, Alabama has sold out of their ticket allotment -- including 2,100 that have been set aside for a student ticket lottery -- leaving Crimson Tide fans to try to buy tickets from brokers and other ticket outlets.
Hear that, Bama fans? If you tickets, call a Ute!
