Arkansas, A&M negotiating annual Dallas game

Don't look now, Dallas.... but here comes an A&M/Arkansas annual matchup??

Arkansas AD Frank Broyles confirmed that both Arkansas and Texas A&M have been approached about reviving their old Southwest Conference rivalry. If a deal can be struck, the annual matchup would be played a neutral site game played in the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium.

"We've been asked to consider it," Broyles said. "We're considering it. That's all I know."

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Arkansas contingent will be in Dallas soon to view the stadium plans and review the final contract.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is a former Arkansas football player and a strong Razorbacks supporter.

Dallas is host to the annual Texas-Oklahoma matchup and has been involved with on-again, off-again negotiations to find a second DI-A game to be played there. If the deal does go through, as sources indicate it will, then it could place in future Razorback games in Little Rock in jeopardy.

I would like to see that happen. I think that it would be a good game.

The Red River Rivarly will be played at that facility soon. I would like to see Oklahoma start a series with Arkansas!

Supposedly Arkansas wanted a 2(Fayetteville, Little Rock) for 1.

@ Porky - What in the heck are you talking about? 2 for 1?

Hey Kevin {Comment #5} you know Arkansas plays 1 game, usually a small draw team, in Little Rock. But anyway I don't know what the (edit) Porky is talking about either. Let's let him make it!

I certainly don't see how it pertains to A&M.

This doesn't seem to be much of a neutral site. I mean, it's more of a neutral site for Texas vs. OU since the schools are about the same distance from Dallas. Isn't Arkansas a lot farther from Dallas that aTm?

From College Station to Arlington is probably pretty close to the Dallas-Ark border... distance wise. I may be off by 50 miles, but I'm too lazy to double check it. ;)

Assuming it goes through, congrats to Arkansas and TAMU ADs.
Twice in one week, the Ags beat Texas.

It's what great Non-Conference college football is all about.

Bevo Boy Comment #9...It is a home game for Texas regardless if Oklahoma wears their Crimson home jerseys. It will be a home game for Texas A&M as well. It's about the money as far as Oklahoma and Arkansas is concerned!

This is a great deal for A&M if they can make it happen. #1, it matches us annually with another solid (and more importantly recognizable) program and #2 it takes the absurd notion of a neutral site game with Tech off the table.

Supposedly some people here thought OU would come to Arkansas twice for one in Oklahoma. It didn't get very far.

Porky Comment #14 are you trying to say that Oklahoma wanted to play Arkansas only if there were two games played in Oklahoma and one played in Arkansas?

I don't know what OU wanted, but apparently 1 home and 2 away wasn't it.

Lennie #12, I can't disagree since I've never been to the Red River Rivalry, but on TV it has seemed pretty much half and half to me.

Bevo Boy Comment #17 when I moved to Austin the sports announcers here referred to that has an "unofficial" home game for Texas. When Oklahoma started winning in the series again they refer to it now has a "neutral" site. The game is in Dallas, Texas...Texas soil...Texas Longhorns home game. Long as Oklahoma gets paid to keep it there then I have not a doggone thing to say! When Texas is the "home" play the game in Dallas, Houston, San Antoni, or Austin...I don't care BUT when Oklahoma is the home team, play the game in Norman!

Lennie, have you ever lived in Oklahoma, how did you become a OU fan..

OU Ron Comment #19...I was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 02/93 to 04/93. It was basic training for the Army so I never left the base at all. I became an Oklahoma fan on 01/01/84 after seeing them lose to Washington 28-17. I started to get interested in college football at the time so my brother and friend asked me who I liked. I said that team that just lost. They asked me why I picked the Sooners. I said that way if they start winning people want say I like them because they won.

Lennie, that explains it. I have been to Fort Sill many times, kinda figured it was that or Tinker AFB.

Lennie - The Cotton Bowl divides at the 50 yard line. Crimson and Cream at one end, and Burnt Orange and White at the other.
The distribution is so even that because of the tunnel at the OU end, a small block of OU seats are set aside in the Texas endzone.

My preference is for a normal home and home rotation.

Hey Hrposon #22 it's still played on Texas Soil so it's a doggone home game still for Texas! Make my Funk the P-Funk! I wants to get funked up, oh!

Isn't the crowd still half for Texas and half for Oklahoma? For a home game, I think more of the crowd factor than the actual location of the game.

How about they build a stadium where the 50 yard line is over the center of the Red River so Oklahoma fans don't complain about it being a home game for Texas when it really isn't.

Let me get back on the subject before doggone Texas fans make this into an Oklahoma bashing. Arkansas and Texas A&M should start playing again.

Maybe there's another reason Nutt left. He's losing his automatic wins.
