Grobe will not be next coach at Arkansas
Multiple newspapers are now reporting that Grobe will stay at Wake Forest and will not be the head coach at Arkansas.
As the Grobe turns..... see update below....

As reported last night by the Wizard of Odds, Jim Grobe will be introduced this week as the new head coach at Arkansas.
Reports put the contract at $2.2 million for five years.
Officials at Arkansas are reluctant to characterize Grobe as 'official' however, in the wake the previous embarrassment of introducing a new basketball coach only to have him leave immediately following the announcement. The Razorbacks have reportedly offered the football position to Tommy Tuberville (Auburn) and Tommy Bowden (Clemson) before making an offer to Grobe.
The Razorback Foundation -- Arkansas’s fundraising arm -- met Wednesday evening and approved the contract offer for Grobe which now must be signed by AD Jeff Long and Grobe. However, the Foundation does not approve contracts until they have been agreed upon by both parties, which would seem to indicate that Grobe to Arkansas is a done deal.
Grobe, who was named the AP Coach of the Year in 2006, is in his seventh season at Wake Forest with a 45-39 record at the second smallest DI-A school. He led the Demon Deacons to a team record second-consecutive bowl game this year, on the heels of their 2006 ACC Championship and Orange Bowl berth.
Prior to Wake Forest, Grobe was the head coach of the Ohio Bobcats.
At this point, I can't say that Grobe is or is not the best coach for the Razorbacks. I am certain that there will be several ACC coaches that will sleep easier knowing that Grobe is out of the conference. And, if you can win at the second smallest DI-A in the nation against the likes of VaTech, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, and BC, well... I think Arkansas is probably going to be more than OK with Grobe.
------------
UPDATE
As has been the case more than once in Arkansas's coaching search, Grobe has decided that he will not be the Razorbacks next coach and he will stay at Wake Forest.

On one hand, I think school wise and career wise this is an upgrade.
On the other hand this may be bad timing, Wake Forest was rebuilding this past year and would of probably killed the ACC this upcoming year (2008).. He would of gotten credit and could ended up going to anywhere he wanted..
Either way, the guys a good coach and has a ton of patience when it comes to building his teams.

"Wake Forest was rebuilding this past year and would of probably killed the ACC this upcoming year (2008)."
What!? VT, Clemson, and Virginia look like they'll be very strong new year. NC State, FSU, Miami, UNC, and Maryland should all be better than they were this year. With all of that you think that WF would probably kill the ACC?
Can you give me the phone number for your drug dealer. Apparently I need to try out the same stuff you've got.
