Uniform Watch: Arkansas get tusks, Buffs get spikes
The Arkansas Razorbacks have unveiled a new adidas designed jersey for the 2008 season. The new design features - most notably - "Razorback tusks" on the sides of the torso. It works surprisingly well on the cardinal jerseys, but I don't think it's terribly unique - as the "tusks" look very, very similar to the "tails" that appear on the new Michigan roadies. The numbers on the jerseys will now be white numerals outlined in black, with a white "ARKANSAS" on the front as well as the player's name on the back in white.
Elsewhere, the Colorado Buffaloes have debuted new uniforms, featuring an Oregon-esque patch intended to evoke... something from the Road Warrior movie, I suppose. The new Nike jerseys (Wow! Nike, huh? Never would have guessed!) feature a slightly grained pads on each shoulder that resemble spikes protruding from the uniform. The look is... well, the jury is still out on these Mad Max jerseys. I have to see them in pads first, before I completely write them off. I suspect the players will absolutely love them because they are definitely a unique look.
