Tuberville states intention to stay at Auburn
Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville spoke out on his future with the Tigers in his first significant comments since being linked to the potential opening at Texas A&M.
In his comments, Tuberville said that he wants to remain at Auburn long-term and would like to discuss a contract extension with the Tigers following the Iron Bowl matchup with Alabama.
Tuberville said he hasn't met with athletic director Jay Jacobs yet to discuss a contract extension, but plans to do so next week after the Iron Bowl.
"As I told them, I love Auburn. I love Auburn people," Tuberville said. "They've done a lot for me, and I hope we've done a lot for them. We're going to be at Auburn as long as they want us here. We're fired up about that."
In the end -- I think Tuberville is on the up & up. Auburn fans have been clamoring for him to re-commit to the Tigers. He has done that and I think we have to assume that he means what he says.
Tuberville's statement leaves a little wiggle room, of course, on either side of his contract.
On one hand, Tuberville can ink a long-term extentension and raise. Maybe he looks like an imp for allowing the Aggie talk to facilitiate the conversation, but few could argue that he hasn't earned something from Auburn.
At the same time, Tuberville has left a slight crack in the door for Texas A&M to potentially exploit. Conversations with A&M offer could easily derail a contract extension with the Tigers, making Tuberville the "good guy" when "evil" Auburn spurns a new deal.

I am one BAMA fan who wants him to stay. The next few years are going to be a lot of fun.
It just wouldn't be the same without Tubby frantically pacing the sidelines and that goofy Muschamp jumping up and down like a monkey.

Not to mention Muschamp calling the opposing players "motherf*ckers", like he did Arkansas'. I wonder what he'll call Alabama's defenders, you know, the ones who surrended 21 to Lah Monroe.
I heard they're printing up new bumper stickers this year, "Honk if You Sacked Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson"
Auburn fans have all been calling for all parties to do the deal now, while I've been a lone voice saying that there's nothing wrong with waiting until the end of the season. I believe it's his intention to stay. I think it's safe to say that all his assistants get nice raises and we get that indoor practice facility that's been on our wish list for quite a while.

Last time I checked, none of the SEC teams play in a dome. Therefore, why would you want to practice inside, when you will be playing your games outside, in the heat and humidity. Makes no sense.
BTW- I live in the deep south. We rarely see 125 degrees farenheit with the humidity factored in. 110 or 115, yeah. 125, not so much.

The push for indoor facilities stems from the desire not to lose practice days due to inclement weather...
UCF is the only school in Florida that has an indoor facility...
When the standard summer afternoon thunderstorm comes blowing through Orlando on an August afternoon precious practice time isn't lost by the Knights...
While on the same day it forces Bowden, Meyer and Leavitt to move their practices into a gymnasium and resume rehearsal in a walk through format rather than being able to actually go full speed...
It also doesn't hurt recruiting to be able to show off your program's "bling"...

"They will have to carry me out of here in a pine box. This is where I want to be and this is where my family wants to be." Tuberville shortly before leaving Ole Miss. He did not tell his own players, he just packed up at 4am and moved out. Watch out Auburn, if A&M shows him the money, he'll leave.

You shouldn't even attempt to slam JP Wilson bro.
Last time T-Mac checked, Brandon Cox is definitely no World-Beater!!!
Auburn has a better O-Line than Bama and JP Wilson still has better stats!

T-Mac: I know you post when you can, but you've got it all wrong. I'm not slamming SJP Wilson for his ability, but for his name. Okay, and maybe that long-haired hippy boy haircut.
You gotta admit the "Honk if You Sacked Brodie Croyle" bumper stickers were hilarious in 2005, after we got him 12 times. I was credited for a half a sack just by yelling from the stands...
Brandon Cox may have lost his way, but by finishing 3-0 against Alabama, that will be all he need ever do to be a legend on the Plains...

Sorry, Col Reb. You leave Ole Miss for an Auburn. You don't leave an Auburn for a Texas A+M. You'd leave Auburn for a Texas or Oklahoma, perhaps, at least to compare Big 12 apples.
There. I spelled it out for you.

Yes, Bama has an indoor practice facility. (Didn't know if it was a rhetorical question or not, so I answered anyways)

I was arguing the point of practicing while it is hot outside. (See cowbell05 #5)I can understand going inside while it is raining, but I can't understand practicing inside because it's hot and humid, outside.
I mean, isn't that the conditions in which southern schools play a majority of their season? (Hot and Humid)

WEA, Auburn might have sacked Croyle 12 times in 2005.
I'm with you there bro.
Brodie Croyle is a starting QB in the NFL for the KC Chiefs.
I doubt Brodie thinks about that game very much.
With all due respect...
In the words of a very smart and intellectual man,
It is what it is!
WEA, Brandon Cox being a Legend on the Plains???
Come on bro, isn't that a stretch???
WEA, JP Wilson wanted me to tell you he isn't a hippy.
He's a rocker dude!!!
His favorite bands are Skynyrd and Def Leppard!!!
T-Mac will post when he can.

Hey, whatever gets the girls (with the hair) right, T-Mac?
Yes, if Cox goes 3-0 against Alabama, that's what he'll forever be remembered for in Auburn lore. Come on T-Mac, you know this series is littered with storied little guys who's only shining moment happened to come during the Iron Bowl, forever enshrining him in the glory of his team.
Actually, not all the glory goes to the unsung guys. The 1986 game is always remembered for Auburn wide receiver Lawyer Tilman--no slouch himself--doing the "Reverse to Victory" on a busted play, but few remember the shoot-out between Brent Fulwood and Bobby Humphrey who each ran for over 200 yards in the Legion Field rain.
Rammer: No, I was really asking. Evidently, having this facility is really important to Tubs, and I think he's going to get it.

Tuberville will be in College Station sooner rather than later. AU won't pony up the $3MM to keep him. He'd be crazy not to leave anyway. He's got a better shot to build a program that competes for conference championships on a regular basis. All the Big 12 has is OU and tu. Beats coaching against LSU, FLA, TN, and BAMA every year.
Besides, A&M is a step up from AU. Always has been and always will be.

"I wonder what he'll call Alabama's defenders, you know, the ones who surrended 21 to Lah Monroe."
Probably the same thing that he called the Aubarn defenders when they surrendered 45 to Georgia. That had to hurt. Ouch! Come on guys, we only gave them 26 and part of that was in overtime.

Hey Army
A&M is a step up from Auburn...lol
You obviously have no idea about SEC football. Any big tweleve job with the exception of Nebraska, Texas or Okalhoma would be a step down my friend. Those three programs on the other hand rank with the best.
Certainly taking nothing away from the fine town of college station and the obvious desire to become a storied ball club but they are not there yet my friend.

Autigerman:
I know plenty about SEC football. While you guys are out there beating each other up, Kansas or Missouri will be playing for a national title.
Further, it seems AU had an unbeaten season not too long ago and got no respect for it. You think that would happen to an undeafeted Aggie team? Not in a million years.
All time series: A&M 2, AU 0
I like AU, but I hate to rain on your parade. A&M is simply a better job.
BTW--You guys are doing a great job beating up on the dog-butted tide. Hope you can keep it up without Tuberville.

Army95 thanks for taking Fran off our hands. Looks like he worked out really well for you.
Have to agree with Autigerman on this one. No way leaving Auburn for A&M is a step up. A&M is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Southwest, NO RESPECT!

SHA--You must coon hunt with autigerman. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just remember there is life outside the backwoods of alabama.
Personally, I don't want Tuberville. There are several better coaches available for less money. But A&M will go after him because of his history with them. And when they go after him, they'll get him. I just hope it works out better than the last guy we took from alabama.

I like how Army95 throws out the all-time series record between ATM and Auburn, 2-0. Well, that's real statistically credible over 115 years. You got us man. There's no way we can overcome that 2 game lead, especially if we never play.
Here, Army, read this while I shit on your senior boots:
Auburn all-time record 674-384-47 13th nationally, .631 %
ATM all-time record 648-419-48 18th nationally, .603 %
Auburn: 4th toughest strength of schedule all-time
ATM: 18th toughest schedule all-time
Now those are some numbers you can grasp!
Just remember: You're Texas A+M. The eyes of no one are upon you...

I gotta side with Tomcat and Army on this one...
I too enjoy a tasty Whataburger Bacon Cheeseburger every once in a while...
WAY better than McD's, BK or Wendy's...
Their breakfast taquitos are pretty good too...
Loaded up with egg, bacon and taters...
Good stuff...
And I've seen Whatas in some pretty urban areas so I'm not really sure that qualifies as "backwoods"...
Maybe if you had thrown Hardee's in there...

Sorry for not responding sooner. I have other things going on over the Thanksgiving holiday. Sorry you don't. Maybe you can come to Texas for a good Thanksgiving meal next year. At least it will keep you off the computer for a while.
Back to football . . .
Nice job with the dog-butted tide! I love it a land grant institution can represent!
As for comparing programs, there is no doubt that Auburn is on the same playing field as A&M. I just don't get that you folks think a move to A&M is a step down. That all-time record you reference includes many years when A&M did not allow anyone to come to school that was not in the Corps of Cadets. Not to mention there were no women on campus. I think we held our own pretty well given those restrictions.
Tommy would to well to come to College Station. However, I'm not sure the Ags would benefit as much as we'd like to believe.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope your Turkeys were juicy!

You're 100% right. ATM would have a better historical record had they went co-ed sooner. No doubt some of those Aggie girls would have been better players. Good bull!
Wasn't me who said ATM was a step down. It's a pure lateral move with the teams, but playing in the SEC, the premier football conference, that trumps anything else.
Alas, it's probably moot. Looks like Mike sherman is your next coach. Good luck to you, sir!
