Tommy Tuberville out after 10 years on the Plains...

In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Bobby Lowder Powers That Be in the Auburn Administration have fired Tommy Tuberville after a decade as their head coach.

One can only wonder whether this was actually five years coming (Early reports say that Bobby Petrino has been contacted) after JetGate, or whether this was more the ultimate sacrifice on the part of Tuberville. Reports indicate that he refused to "start from the ground up" by cleaning house on assistants.

It's obvious that the palace coup performed on Tony Franklin was perhaps the last straw. If that wasn't, then a shutout loss to Alabama, breaking a string of 6 straight victories in the Iron Bowl, probably broke the camel's back.

I'm almost shocked by this, as my fellow contributor WEA had just e-mailed me Monday saying that Bobby Lowder The Powers That Be at Auburn had met with and issued Tubs a reprieve...Obviously, hotter heads have prevailed.

Entirely too premature talk of a replacement that I've heard includes current 1st year Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino, and Texas Tech's own Frequent Flyer, Mike Leach.

The SEC...You guys may not like it...but it makes for some good copy this time of year...I mean, what other conference can make two teams playing for a Conference Championship and a spot in the National Title Game take a backseat to a coaching decision from a team that finished below .500 this year?
