Singletary pulls name from Bears search

NFL Hall of Fame-r and SF 49ers coach Mike Singletary has pulled his name from the coaching search at Baylor, according to ESPN's Len Pasquarelli. Former Baylor coach

Singletary met with Baylor officials on Wednesday and said afterwards that the Bears position was not a good fit.

"What happened was, we got to a point in the conversation where it just wasn't going to work... The more we talked about it, the more I knew -- and I think [McCaw] knew -- it wasn't going to work," Singletary told The Dallas Morning News on Thursday.

Singletary was considered the #1 candidate at Baylor, so it's interesting that the coaching search took this turn. We're unlikely to know what actually transpired, but the long & short is that Singletary is no longer in the mix.

Other names that have been linked to the Baylor search include Arkansas coach Houston Nutt, Houston coach Art Briles and Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Larry Fedora.

I wonder what's the worst coaching job? SMU or Baylor. Well at least Fran and Callahan have some options for next year.

Singletary was all name, and no accomplishments.

Art Briles, Head Coach Houston, he would be a good fit for Baylor.

If Wake Forest, Rutgers, and Kansas can turn things around, why not Baylor.
