Big12 boots Baylor-Notre Dame matchup to New Orleans
The 2012 Baylor - Notre Dame game - originally announced as a Baylor "away" game in Dallas - is now being moved to New Orleans in the wake of a television dispute between NBC and the Big XII Conference.
According to the Big XII's latest television contract, which was signed after the Bears-Irish game was announced, ESPN and Fox Sports Network have broadcast rights to all conference games played within the Big XII broadcast area. Notre Dame, however, has an exclusive agreement with NBC.
Under the previous Big XII contract with ABC, the game could have been treated as an exception. Under the new agreement, the conference says the game must be broadcast on ESPN or Fox Sports.
The game still will be played on Oct. 6, 2012, but it will be staged at the Louisiana Superdome and broadcast by NBC to comply with current Big 12 television contracts. In related news, a high-ranking source said the Cowboys are in negotiations to bring Notre Dame to Arlington to play Arizona State on Oct. 5, 2013.
I know this is an emotional issue for Baylor, but I don't think the crowd will be anymore pro-Irish than it would have been had the game been held in Dallas. While the Bears alums would have treated it like a home game, the fact remains that BU is generally "out-attended" in their own stadium, let alone a game against one of the nation's most popular teams.
Plus this will give the Baylor coaches a much larger "entertainment district" in which to make headlines.
Kudos to the Irish for trying to make up the date in Dallas by playing a Pac10 opponent, who would also be restricted by its television contract were the game held out West.

Im sure a lot of Baylor Bear fans will be driving all the way to Louisiana to see what they don't even pack their own stadium to see the Bears get embarassed yet again. Im sure a lot of Irish fan's will be packing into the Dome to see the Irish finally win a game there since they didn't fare so well the last time they played there.

OU-Ron i know ND was bad last year, but the only team that they played that even resembles the doormat that Baylor is, is Duke and they beat them. If Notre Dame lost to Baylor i would suggest that the whole coaching staff resign and enter the witness protection program!

Hey Kev I totally disagree with your comment about" I dont think the crowd will be any more pro-Irish". On the contrary N.O. is primaraly a Catholic city, so the crowd will definitly be more pro-Irish.Also as you pointed out that Baylor has trouble bringing in fans to home names.
Dallas is right up IH 35 from Waco just a couple of hours away for students and Alum to travel.
New Orleans is hundreds and hundreds of miles away, too far, and to expensive for poor college students to attend with the cost of fuel & Hotels etc etc. If the game was in Dallas no big deal, drive home after the game.
The Bears can whup the Irish no problem, but the crowd will be mostly n.D. fans, they will be embarrassed by the Mighty Bears.

#8 40 Acres Baylor would have beat Notre Dame the last couple of years no doubt, heck the beat K-State in 06 something the Horns couldnt do.
I was at the game last year in Waco, it was 17-10 with about 4 min left in 4th quarter.Baylor made a long 80+ yard drive down to the Texas 12 yd line. They were fixing to tie it up, but threw a pick and the Horns went all the way to the other end scoring a T.D. BU got the ball back and the same thing happened again. It was a very close game alot closer than the 31-10 score would indicate. I'll remind you that they beat Colo in Boulder in 06 and beat the A&M Aggies in 04.
Yall correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember I think 05 when TCU only lost one game to SMU, that was a SMU team that lost to Baylor, they also beat Iowa St that year, the same year that Iowa st beat Iowa.
Dont ever underestimate your opponent my friend.

Kevin, and the rest, I haven't taken the time as yet to read this article, as 15 injured victims are now the subject of my prayers. They were shot by an as yet to be identified (now dead) gunman at Northern Illinois University. My heart goes out to the families involved, that none of the fallen stay fallen for long. May they all recover to be at least as they were.

I don't want to play this down in the least. Trust me, this is traumatizing more than just a few dozen people. BUT, thus far, none have died. We all have to be thankful for that. I just hope we can still be saying that some months from now.

Having recovered somewhat from the earlier report, I see ND and their card-carrying-liberal friends at NBC can't see their way to make nice with the Big 12. So, they're just going to muscle Baylor into the Big Easy so Weiss can have a big dish of spiced mud-puppies and warsh em down with chickaree. I'll put a pay-check up against anyone who thinks ND could pull the same stunt on the likes of OK, TX, or TX A&M. But then, ND couldn't see their way to play any of them anytime soon.
(And this was supposed to help ND recruit from TX. If at 1st you don't succeed, try taping into SEC country.)
