Although, I think that Florida has a very fine up and coming program and will compete for National Championships for several years now, I think that they are too young this year to challenge the experience of Ohio State. My prediction is: Ohio State 27 Florida 19. I see too much offensive firepower for OSU. Even though Florida has a solid defense - I think that the Buckeyes will make a few plays that will make the difference. If I see a team really strugglin' offensively - it's gonna be Florida. I will say though - it would not shock me if I were wrong on this one. We've seen much stranger upsets than this one would be.

Its almost too bad that the winner of this game will be the 'undisputed' champ this year. (Boise's 13-0 isn't a legit gripe, and everybody knows it.) The more controversy surrounding the BCS, the more I like it. I want so much complaining, so much outcry, that the pressure to change never lets up.
In my littl wish-world, Michigan would've laid down a thorough thumping of USC in the Rose. Florida eeks by OSU on a last second, 88 yard field goal to win it by 1. Setting up the stage for Michigan, with its very vocal fan base, to start screaming fowl when Florida gets the crown. And maybe even setting up a split champion, if the AP writers give their championship to Michigan.
But alas, its not to be. I hate to say it, but I'm feeling OSU 27, Florida 14.

Gator fans,
I have noticed that you guys really haven't talked too much smack on here. Most of it was directed towards Michigan fans (for obvious reasons). I do still expect your glass slipper to shatter by midnight tonight. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to eat that slice of humble pie. Miracles can happen (OSU VS Miami), but not tonight.

All I hear about is Florida's defense. Michigan was touted the same way against the Bucks, yet they were picked apart by Troy Smith. It will not be a blowout, but it will not be close either. Florida's anemic offense will be unable to score. Defense can only do so much for them. Ohio State has too many weapons like USC has. Florida will be unable to completely stop that machine. We will see all tonight. Go Bucks!!!!

Why would there be a problem if Ohio State wins the game? The Bucks will have beaten Texas, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan and Florida. Boise State will own wins over Oregon State and Oklahoma. Oregon State lost four games. Oklahoma lost three games. Oklahoma lost to Texas. Boise State beat Oklahoma by only one. The same amount that Oregon beat them by. I don't see where an Ohio State National Championship could possibly be disputed. Should OSU win the game - then the BCS will have done it's job for this year.

Well, I certainly hope my beloved Gators win tonight, but I must be realistic and admit that OSU doesn't really have any weaknesses and the Gators have three: field goal kicking, kick-off coverage, and an inexperienced offensive line. To win, the Gators will have to play near perfection or the Buckeyes will have to show some flaws. Here's hoping!
Go Gators!!

The reason you don't hear us running our mouths is nobody has given us any credit all year long. Same as the basketball team last year and look what happened. If Ohio State wins they they are certainly deserving of it. But being the underdogs that everybody has counted out certainly helps us. We have something to prove and we will. GO GATORS!!

i have to agree w/ ramblin gator....florida has to play a mistake free game....the one weakness i have to say about smith is he seem to float the ball to hi recievers a little too much..he cannot do that agains floridas speedy backs....but other than that weaknesses are hard to find in osu...but, if the gators can keep it close....i believe florida has the edge in tight game scenarios....they have played in them all year...the gators just seem to find a way to win, in tight games....go gators.....
florida - 34
osu - 246 hours and counting.....

I love how everyone counts Florida out. They weren't supposed to beat Tennessee, they weren't supposed to beat LSU, and they were supposed to get crushed by McFadden and Arkansas. If I recall correctly, they won all those games. They have been the underdogs all year, and seem to thrive on it. As for saying Michigan is supposed to have a great defense? That's laughable. John David Booty picked them apart like I've never seen before. Michigan just never faced decent offensive teams

I’m predicting a Gator win, final score 23-31 Gators. Nelson plays the game of his life and dedicates everything to his recently passed mother. I think the Gators have too much going for them and Ohio State hasn’t touched a football is 50some odd days. Gators win and I come into work smelling like Mich light.

We win because our coach is taller and sweater vests are just gay.
Badger Ball is right on with his BCS comments. Obviously, Tommie T we know you like how the BCS is slanted toward the traditional powers - and even now that the Gators benefit, I still hate it. The only thing good about the BCS is that I get to bitch about something and KNOW that I am right.
As for tonight's game - look for my boy Percy to shine. This may be the healthiest he's been all year. Our D line will not pressure Smith much because we rely on our back 7. If they are in the plus column for turnovers (like they have been all year) they will win. In my 25 years of watching CFB I have never seen a defense that plays so well in the red zone - it's uncanny. Reggie Nelson will be the best player on the field tonight in his last game in Orange & Blue.
Good luck Buckeyes. Go Gators.

Hey Randy...can you say, "from Ohio" or how about, "current OSU grad student"????
I am also a Columbus, OH resident, that may help clear up any confusion about where my so called "bitterness" stems from. LOL
Auburn was no where near the caliber of a team deserving to play Ohio State. (in my opinion)
This game will be a battle and I personally hope it is close all the way to the end, I hate turning the N.C. game off at halftime.

You know, it really pains me to say this. But, as much as I cannot stand Florida, I truly think they are a team to be reckoned with. Sure, I could rant and rave about the one point win against my beloved Gamecocks, but it's now in the past. If you look back to the Ohio State-Michigan game and saw how Michigan lost by three points to Ohio State, and then fast forward to the beating they took from USC, you can see that they weren't really the team to beat. Sorry to say that Michigan fans, but you need to face facts...your team is good, but not that good. And also from that game, you can see that Ohio State didn't really do a superb job of putting them away. The SEC is and always will be the toughest conference! And, on top of that, Florida played the toughest schedule in the country this year. Good luck Ohio State fans, you're going to need it, and a lot of it. My prediction Florida wins big 35-21.
Go Gaters, but more importantly, Go Gamecocks!!! Steve Spurrier WILL rule the roost next year...pun intended!!!

Hey Portis,
I'll take a midget in a sweater vest that wins over a man with the name "Urban."
Urban is an adjective. It was also a popular name for ecclesiastic popes...I guess we can add SEC football coach to that list as well.
BTW: I went to grade school with his kid brother, Suburban Meyer...he was always a little further from the city than his big brother Urban.

In the FINAL BCS vote (after tonight's game) what happens to the Coaches Poll for the following coaches that are no longer with their teams? Do they continue to vote?
UF over UM: Amato, Bunting, Coker, Kragthorpe, O'Brien, Petrino.
UM over UF: Kelly, Smith
I only mention how they voted for UM or UF to point out that I wish they had all gone before the next to last vote (if they no longer vote) :)
I presume all the AP voters are still employed where they were before.

If Ohio State wins, the BCS will have "gotten away with it" again... NOT that its right.
If Florida wins that would Cap-Off one of the most Mediocre/Underwhelming seasons in College Football in recent memory (there'd be ZERO "Great" teams).
The way things are shaping up for next season, teams, players, etc, it looks like the jump in from 2006 to 2007 will be epic (as the 'drop' from 2005 to 2006 was)... dont let the "entertaining Bowl games" fool you.

"If Ohio State wins, the BCS will have "gotten away with it" again."
How in the world would being in the Big 10 going undefeated and then winning the National Title game be...... letting the BCS get away with it?A playoff is not going to solve all the problems.
If anything is the solution, it is the "+1 idea"
Now there's an idea.

Yo buddy, your SEC is 0-2 vs. big ten this bowl season! If the SEC is the best, why don't they show up to the games? Or are they O.V.E.R.R.A.T.E.D.
Your best hope is to be 1-2 vs big ten.GOOOOOOOO BUCKS! CHOKE THE SILLY GATORS!

Diggs,
I mean that Ohio State (if they win) will have been the only truely "deserving team" to be named National Champs... ergo, the BCS system could say they "got it right".
I prefer a 4-Team Playoff... the "plus-1" thing is NOT THAT, a lot of people confuse themselves with that. The "Plus-1" idea is having basically the SAME SYSTEM (1 vs 2) except for doing it After the Bowl games are played. That is NOT a 4-team Playoff - just so we're on common ground.
So Cal USMC said:
posted on January 8, 2007 7:47 PM — 204.62.68.23 — link — abuse?
The SEC is perpetually "over-rated" it seems like... but that doesnt mean they're not the Best Conference this year (despite 0-2 vs the Big TEN).
Even if Florida loses, the SEC will finish Rated as the No. 1 Conf this year.

So Cal USMC,your right, but I have trouble actually beleiving they are much better than the Big Ten,simply because every year the Big Ten goes down south and beats em on their own turf.
And next year when Wisconsin get's to the Capital one bowl they will still be talking about how good and strong and superfast the SEC team is,and Wisconsin will "upset" them AGAIN! Well after it happens EVERY YEAR! it aint no upset!

Actually, I think this has been a great "situational" football game. You just can't give a team like Florida a short field, and you cannot commit stupid penalties and commit turnovers to help the other team out. If Tressel punts the football on the 4th and 1, it may be a very different game right now. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, I know, but that was a turnover, and a very dumb one, in my opinion.
Florida is looking like the team that's well prepared and focused, and they're definitely winning the trench war when they're on defense. Smith has no time and nowhere to go.
The first series Florida had set the tone for them. They're executing perfectly.

C-Dogg, I look at it this way. If we had an 8 team playoff LSU would have been the team to beat. FSU did beat LSU. JaMarcus Russell has a nak for making bad decisions and I think he had like 3 or 4 turnovers in the game. So no, with this BCS format Florida deserves to be there. Now get this, LSU did not even win their Division, they finished behind Arkansas and Auburn. Now that's a tough conference. And as far JaMarcus Russell, he peaked at the right or wrong time depending on how you look at it.
