NCAA rule change
I have never seen such an attempt to say something other than what you really mean than this presentation of why this rule is needed.
The WAC, not MWC, proposed this rule regarding students participating in church missions longer than the one year requirement for a transfer. We all know this is referring to the LDS and BYU.
While a few examples of LDS missionaries originally committed to BYU have recently gone to Utah after their missions, far more decide to go from their original schools to BYU. This rule would allow students to make their intent know prior to their mission if a change is desired, but not allow students to be swayed during the mission itself.
So now schools like Utah State, Boise State, Nevada, San Jose State, Idaho and Hawaii that recruit a significant number of LDS athletes can rest assured that their recruits will be free of pressures to transfer during the two years away from campus.
