Former Tenn QB Schaeffer to transfer to Clemson

UPDATE: Clemson has refused Brent Shaeffer's pledge.

According to a radio interview with former Tennessee QB Brent Schaeffer's stepfather, Adolph Lewis, the sophomore is planning to transfer to Clemson. Schaeffer wants to enroll in classes right away, so that he can sit out this fall, work in with the team as quickly as possible, and compete for the starting job next fall.

As we mentioned in May, Schaeffer was considering several schools, but recently narrowed his choices to South Florida and CU. An announcement could come this week or as late as next Tuesday.

I think Brent Shaeffer would make a perfect fit at Georgia. He possesses the same kinds of atheleticism that D.J. Shockely possesses. After Shockely does the unexpected this year, Shaeffer will be a prime quarterback to step into an offense that would be tailored to compliment his atheleticism. I think his starting experience gives him a leg up on any of the current backup quarterbacks and/or current Georgia recruits. In particular the highly Georgia recruit Matthew Stafford.

So Brent,if you come across this comment, give it some thought. This would definately give you an oppurtunity to showup your former coach and competiters and show the nation how much of a leader you really are.

The Georgia/Tennessee rivals is one of the SEC's greatest rival. How about spicing it up a little more?
