James Davis has wrist surgery

Clemson running back James Davis had surgery Friday afternoon to repair a wrist fracture he suffered on the first play of the second half in Thursday night's 31-10 win over N.C. State. Davis is now expected to miss 3-4 weeks which would put him returning for one of two home games - Duke on 11/5 or FSU on 11/12. He is expected to miss the Temple and Georgia Tech games at a minimum.

Davis, with his arm in a soft cast and a sling, was interviewed on the sidelines late in the 2nd half Thursday night and indicated that he could returned to the game if he had been needed. He also said he expected to return for the Georgia Tech game in his hometown of Atlanta on 10/29. Davis rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns in one half against the Wolfpack.

One thing mentioned in the AP report on the surgery that I had previously not heard:

Davis left the game early in the third quarter when he said someone stepped on his wrist.

If someone indeed stepped on his wrist it was not that evident in replays during the game. It appeared as if he just landed on his left hand first and his weight pushing down injured the wrist.
