Parents: Don't let Tommy Bowden anywhere near your sons
Sometimes you can understand exactly what a coach means, if it is disguised in "coach speak".
Other times, Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden grabs the mic and says something so... exceptional... that it is beyond words.
"I've watched him practice and I’ve watched him play (baseball). He’s really good looking. If I was a girl, I'd be very interested in him. He wears those tight pants. When you wear loose stuff, you can't tell the definition of a guy's body. In baseball, everything's tight and you can tell he's very well put together."
Now, Tommy Bowden knows a thing a two about pants, but... what the... ?!?!
How many minutes of pure silence do you think passed before the reporter went on to his next question??
Hat Tip: The ever spicy EDSBS

It was a very weird thing for Bowden to say, but I just chalked it up to one of those things that you say or do to be funny (and then wish you could take back later). Same as the naked Lauren Bowden photo which one can easily find on the web.
I wish we had some football news to talk about.

Razz: Yea, it was one of those things that doesn't sound as good when they read it back to you. Can't imagine it sounded good the first time though, either...
Porky: I guess you're going to leave your name change put, huh? Guess I'll start calling you Porcine now, since I'm the one who named you...
Maybe Bevo Boy will change his name to 'Bovine'...

I don't live far from Clemson, SC. I listen to local radio interviews of him and in the paper and... I swear, that guy says some of the strangest/dumbest things I've ever heard from a coach.
He's obviously not gay because he has a wife and kids. Well, I guess that doesn't mean much.
As an aside, his daughter is smokin'

What ever happened to Lauren Bowden? She was doing some TV commentary for the local Fox affiliate for a while. Did she get the axe after those pictures surfaced? This happened like 3-4 years ago... What a P.O.S. her boyfriend was for doing that...

I KNEW it!!!
As soon as (How far back was that thread?) I saw the photos with him in that get-up; the one with the orange slacks and shoes, and that tie, and all those tiger paws and things, I knew we had identified Clemson's "Triple R". You betcha!!!
(So that's why the Bowdens all moved to FL - to be nearer to Miami.)

Lauren was cheating on the boyfriend so I don't blame him that much for it. The allegation is that his roommate found it on his computer and sent it to a few friends, and we all know how that turns out. A girl shouldn't allow pictures like that to be taken if she doesn't want them to be seen, and especially shouldn't allow them to be taken by a guy that she is cheating on (unless she wants the picture to get out, that is).
I lived right beside the guy she was cheating with, so I used to see her quite frequently. Although, I have no idea what she's doing anymore, or even what city she lives in. When she was with Fox (or whoever it was) it was as a guest/student/special reporter, so it was always stated as a temporary position. I can't remember if she was a communications major or a marketing major, but I'm sure she's using that pretty face for some career out there. Oh, and she's MUCH prettier in person than I've seen in any picture.
I miss college girls. Sigh...

WEA:
No, I am not an attorney. I am a network engineer.
I know her personally as we had student organization ties that had us hanging out in the same social setting multiple times a week. I do not at all consider her a victim. I know the boyfriend, roommate, and guy she was cheating with as well. She was fully aware that it was being taken and was completely comfortable with it. After they got out, there wasn't much blaming the boyfriend either. She accepted responsibility for the pictures. If you allow a picture to be taken, you have to know that there is a chance that it will get out on the internet.
My wife wouldn't have pictures like that because she doesn't allow pictures to be taken of her. However, for arguments sake, let's just say that it were someone different and there were pictures. I think to be with any woman you have to accept the fact that others have seen her naked and more. In this case, a lot of others have seen her naked, but at least everyone is quite approving of what they've seen. I'd chalk it up to a mistake she'd made in her past. It could be much worse.

Clemson Joe, RazzMaTazz, War Eagle A, I won't lie. I miss college, girl watching in general, and what my wife used to look like when she was that young, and before she had our kids. Back when I was in college, the Internet was someone's pipe-dream. One of my wife's former boy-friends had taken photos of her. They could yet surface, what with the Internet as it is. I'm thinking he's matured beyond that. Point is, ya never know.
The good news: In some distant future when it might matter, someone might remember the photos of Lauren Bowden, and just as likely chalk them up to the foolishness of youth. On the other hand, those orange pants, let alone the quote above, I don't think Tommy will ever live that down.

Zac, I miss 'em, too, but then again, Ramen noodles, buffet lunches with empty backpacks and gallon sized ziplock bags, and LSU's AD forcing me to blow a 40 hour workweek out of the water in exchange for 20 hours-maximum-at minimum wage while supplementing said meager income with writing papers for $50 per 1,000 words and-when the bottom of the barrel was (sadly too often) in sight, hitting up the plasma and blood donation joints all around Baton Rouge-aren't days that I necessarily wax poetically for...

Damn, TE. I thought I was the only poor sap who sold his plasma during college. I did it so many times, I still have needle tracks in the bends of my elbows 20 years after the fact.
I did it for beer money. Eight donations a month netted like $150, which was pretty good for a college student back in 1986-87. Plus, it took a few hours to do, so it was like my forced study hall.
Zac: Didn't you say your wife occasionally read fanblogs? I think you can expect a frying pan upside the head for that last remark about the nudie pics...
Clemson Joe: It doesn't matter if she is the biggest slut in the world, it doesn't take away one iota from the boyfriend being a sleazy bastard for letting them out. Granted, it's a bit naive to think that they won't leak out to his friends or something, but to the entire world?
As far as someone not being the first one to plant the flag on top of Mount Wifie, that's not my point. We all understand that we have to reconcile someone's past, but what if something like this suddenly leaked out to sully the reputation of some woman you cared for? It's just sleazy for men to do that. Just ask Kristin Davis here recently, too...

WEA, nope - you and TE can join me in the blood "donor" club. I just sold plasma, but I knew some lucky guys with unusual antibodies in their blood, so they made big(ger) bucks. In the passage of 2+ decades, I've forgotten what we were paid for that.
TE, If I never see another Ramen noodle pack in my life, I will die a happier man. Feels like I lived off that stuff for four years.

Agree with WEA, only really sleazy guys try to get back at a girl with the naked photo trick.
If the girl was positively horrible, then I could see making sure they know ya had it just to torture them as they wondered whether or not you were mad enough to use it. But the truth is, this is a really pathetic way to try to get back at an ex.
It lacks class and, well...creativity. This stuff causes collateral damage, and just isn't cool.
Please for the love of Benji tell me we have successfully hijacked this thread...has TB ever said anything cool on the spot???

I still like to eat a bowl of ramen with a PBR every once in a while. Well, more like once a year for old times' sake. To me, it's still good when not done once (or more) a day.
WEA and Regan:
The story is as follows: The roommate of the ex-boyfriend used his computer and found the picture. He then emailed it to a few friends. Apparently there was more than 1, but he only sent 1 out. He said that he thought the ex-boyfriend wouldn't mind since he wasn't with her and had been hurt by her. Of course, at the time, he was probably only thinking, "Wow. This is cool. My friends should see this too." You could only blame the ex-boyfriend for not doing a better job of hiding the photos on the computer. So, no, I do not at all think the guy is sleazy. If anything the roommate is.In the age of the internet, "leaking out to your friends" is leaking out to the entire world. If it hits the internet, it can be found. Anyone who grew up with the internet, as she did, realizes that any image, good or bad, stands the chance to hit the 'net. When you're the daughter of Tommy and the granddaughter of Bobby, any image of you, good or bad, stands a much better chance to hit the 'net.
Regan:
I personally remember Tommy saying some things that were fairly cool on the spot, but can't remember any specific examples except what Jim Phillips had to say about him. I'm sure you can Google it. While he seems to say something cool every once in a while, it's certainly not very often. His counterpart in Columbia makes him look foolish with his wit at times. Fortunately for him though, that does not translate on the football field.

TE (Post 25), Viagra? I'm Italian! We doan need no steeenking Viagra!!! (Seriously funny, TE; I was laughing so hard, it took me 4 tries to sign in.)
Ahhh, those days of Ramen with chopped celery, scallions, carrots, garlic, and popcorn shrimp. Of course, there were those days of day-old hamburgers from where I worked at McDonalds... I agree nothing like the present...and college football.
By the way, War Eagle, my wife's cool. We have a GREAT relationship. Worst that would happen would be a quick chuckle and love tap upside the head...likely with a 2X4, but a love tap none the less.
I agree, CJ (Post 29). I wasn't there; it's not for me to judge. If it went down as you posted, the boy friend can only be accused of being careless, and his roommate needs a 2X4 upside the head. Were it otherwise, a most intimate trust was betrayed, and that too would be sad.

Oh yeah, it's extremely graphic. I guess I forgot to mention that. Sorry about the misunderstanding.
So, missing football as much as I am, I actually tried to watch Arena Football to fill my need. In short, it didn't work, at all. That is just not exciting to me, and not at all the same. I actually found myself wishing for a good old fashioned hand off. Maybe a Power I Iso 22. That'd be nice. When does the season kickoff?

The Bowden family hasn't been this embarrased since his daughter Lauren's boyfriend decided to post naked pictures of her on the internet a few years back.
I got one around here somewhere. She's very good-looking. Since I am a guy, I think I'd hit that. When she's naked, you can really tell what her body looks like...
