Will Colorado fans stand by Barnett?
After a 70-3 massacre at the hands of the Texas football team, Denver Post columnist Mark Kiszla says that Colorado football fans need to rally & stand by their man.
If Colorado returned 5,000 of their 8,500 tickets for the Big XII title game before losing by 67 points on national tv, I honestly don't know how much support the Buffs can expect from the fans - or how much they deserve.
If I'm a CU fan, I really have to be wondering how this team can bring Gary Barnett back. For all the talk of contract extensions, you still have to look at the fact that this team has been beaten 130-22 in it's last three games. Colorado had no business losing to Iowa State - none. The Buffs had everything on the line against Nebraska and got whipped. And the Big XII title game - yeesh.
Buffs.tv is right - the wheels are falling off the CU wagon.

I completely agree with NMbuff. If we want a mediocre team that goes to mediocre bowl games and beats most of the sad teams in the Big 12, then Barnett is our man. I like Gary, good guy and all, but mediocrity is not what I'm looking for out of Buff Football. I was at the NU game at Folsom Field and I have never seen a team outcoached like that. What a terrible way to send out your seniors by sending them out there to get embarassed by a better coached team. One game doesn't mean everything but this game meant a lot. It illustrated the problem with Colorado Football.

Gary Barnett has been nothing but loyal to CU and means a lot to me. Anybody who has really watched CU over the last 2 years knows that he has had mediocre talent at best and gotten the most out of them. Unfortunately, dragging out this contract decision has hurt recruiting for yet another year. This after the sex scandal significantly impacted the incoming classes the last two years. Just look at the best teams in the country. Fact is, the better teams have better talent on the field. Put Texas's players under Gary Barnett, heck just put a couple decent recruiting classes under Barnett and see what he can do. Looking at the big picture, Barnett will be successful given the full backing of the community and University. Bottom line is, YES, I stand behind Gary Barnett and wouldn't want anyone else coaching CU next season.
