SMU, Rice & Tulsa to C-USA?

SMU athletic director Jim Copeland acknowledged that he has had discussions with C-USA about the possibility of SMU, Rice, and Tulsa moving from the WAC to C-USA. This would make sense for SMU and the other two schools as they would all reduce their travel budgets and get closer geographic rivals.

This move is also viewed as a potential concession to keep new C-USA darling TCU in the fold. TCU has publicly stated that closer geographic rivals and the potential to rekindle old rivalries with SMU & Rice are important to the Horned Frogs.

A little tip to C-USA.... While you're at it - you might want to pick up the University of North Texas, too. A big, state-run school with an up & coming athletic department that's not afraid to play the big boys just might make UNT the steal of future conference realignment, not to mention facilitating divisional play for future 12-team expansion.

I've heard rumors that UNT may be jumping conferences soon do you really think that c-usa would take on UNT? if not where would they go? I think that continuing to dominate in the sunbelt confrence is not going to help unt or any of the other schools that are being beat up by them year after year. just wondering.

I would LOVE for UNT to jump up. They are a great choice for someone. I don't think they will get into C-USA. I think with some departures from the WAC & MAC, there may be an opening somewhere for UNT, but not in C-USA. I'm not sure they can afford the WAC travel, so would we settle for them to land in the MAC or would we rather see the Mean Green blowin' up the Sunbelt?
