TCU coach signs extension

TCU has again extended the contract of Head Coach Gary Patterson for one year. Patterson, who took over at TCU in 2001, is under contract through 2008.

Patterson & TCU say that the move will show recruits that Patterson is going to stay at TCU. Honestly, I find it a little disingenuous, because coaches can leave their university at almost any time. Patterson has gotten quite a bit of publicity while leading the Horned Frogs and his name has been through about for some much larger jobs. Are we to believe that Patterson wouldn't leave TCU if a college football powerhouse came calling? Coaches should be more up front with players and recruits. I say universities should put every coach on a one year revolving contract, at least then we wouldn't have to listen to whining a la Franchione sucks.
