I-AA games affected by Hurricane Rita

Several games have been cancelled or postponed this weekend because of Hurricane Rita's landfall late last night-early this morning in Texas and Louisiana.

As previously mentioned, Texas State's game with Texas A&M was moved up to Thursday night in College Station. The Bobcats lost to the Aggies.

Nicholls State has cancelled its home game with Western Carolina. The game could be rescheduled for 2006 or 2007. Previously, Nicholls State was not able to play in its opening game at Utah State because of Hurricane Katrina. The next game on their schedule is October 1 at North Dakota State.

Northwestern State has also cancelled its game with Texas Southern.

McNeese State cancelled its game with Northwestern Oklahoma State and closed down campus Thursday. Special needs shelters set up for evacuees after Katrina were evacuated at McNeese and Nicholls. The Cowboys of McNeese also missed a home game, with Southern, because of Katrina. Southern has also cancelled its game with Albany State today.

Sam Houston State's game with Missouri State has also been cancelled. Huntsville, Texas (where SHSU is located) is reportedly being used as a location evacuees are being sent to. Discussions for playing at a neutral site were made but no buses were available to transport Missouri State from DFW and then back again after the game.

More details on I-AA games affected by Hurricane Rita will be posted later today.
