North Dakota going Division I
The University of North Dakota will begin its transition to Division I (presumably I-AA in football) in two years. Hockey teams at the school already compete at the D-I level. The move mirrors one by rival North Dakota State, which is a part of the Great West Conference in I-AA.
The 2007-2008 academic year will be UND's transition year and, if things go as planned, the move to D-I will be finished by the 2011-2012 year. The school is currently part of the D-II North Central Conference. A school official says he expects many schools in that conference to follow North Dakota to Division I but the NCC's commissioner asserts that the conference is "committed" to Division II.

Well COLON RED since the 2000 season OLE MISSY has had 36-Wins and 39-Losses. It doesn't look any better for Ole Missy this year either. Congratulations on beating The Citadel last year though. Lets face it COLON RED, Ole Miss would be doing the SEC a "FAVOR" by just choosing to go to Conference USA, and replacing them with TCU. The SEC would then be a true powerhouse!

Not that the SEC isn't a Great Conference already, I just think the SEC would be a-lot better off to get rid of a bottom of the barrel SEC team, and replace them with a top of the food chain "Mountain West" team that is an up and coming program.

ColReb, being a fan of a major CFB program and taking shots at the Big East is one thing but being from the bottom of the best CFB league doesn't afford you that luxury.
You haven't had to worry about survival of your program. There has always been a UT, UF or UGA there to bake a beautiful pie for you to have a slice of. Remember, being in a BCS league doesn't make you BCS quality.

1) They're a bunch of pretentious redneck retards. Contrary to the popular belief in Oxford, J. Crew gear and centerpieces do NOT give you elegance. It's like putting lipstick and a prom dress on a pig. You still have a pig, not a homecoming queen. That's even true in Oxford, where it would be an improvement over most Ole Manning homecoming queens.
2) Rebels have a grossly inflated opinion of themselves. From Avery/Douche/Eli for Heisman, to thinking they got ripped off in the 2001 bowl invites in spite of a winless November, to having a meltdown on the Rebel Vent message board wondering how Sean Merrill could possibly pick LSU over them, they have the biggest delusions of grandeur in all of college football. But nothing compares to their honest belief they're the best tailgaters. They even gushed about it in a 2001 article and dissed LSU's tailgating because we "bring too much cooking equipment".

4) 5 of the 6 West teams have appeared in the SEC Championship game. Guess which one hasn't made the trip? Nope, not Mississippi State--even Jackie the Clown has been to Atlanta. That's right, the hOMos. This in spite of having Vanderbilt as a permanent East opponent.5) Ole Priss is the only West team without a trip to Atlanta, or even a division co-championship. Until this year they never even had a winning conference record "SINCE EXPANSION". But they managed to go 6-0 this year, getting that particular monkey off their backs…maybe. Because it turns out the wrong SEC running back was nicknamed Cadillac. When the NCAA hammer falls they may have to give back 4 of their wins. NO WINNING CONFERENCE RECORD FOR YOU! COME BACK TWENTY YEAR!
6) The Manning Legacy? Losing. This is the eleventh season with a Manning quarterback the SEC. Only once did one of them-Peyton-win the conference, and he had to go to Tennessee to do it. Archie never won a ring in the pros, and Peyton’s winless in the playoffs. As far as the SEC, Eli's mustache will grow in full before the Weebles win a ring. At least he can console himself with a beer.7) They crash and burn every November, going from controlling their own destiny to the Blue-Gray game. Oh, wait, now they don't even have that to look forward to.
8) Vanderbilt has one SEC road win in 7 years against, guess who? Yep, Ole Piss. Speaking of Vanderbilt, they also had a 2-2 record against the Rebels under Gerry Dinardo.
9) Lame, dorky traditions. The Hotty Toddy cheer and the Grove? What a joke. Can you say GAY?
10) They think it's the 1850s. While the administration has disavowed Dixie, the rebel flag, and Colonel Reb, the fans are still pitching a hissy fit over the loss of their Old South "traditions". I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Southerners taking pride in their heritage, but there are literally dozens of Southern schools that don't feel the need to base their entire identity on the antebellum period. But I guess you can't blame them. If I lived in an armpit of a town like Oxford, and I went to a school whose athletic legacy was a century of futility, I'd pretend it was the ancient past too. The rest of us--who actually did something worth noting since the War Between the States--have moved on. One example is Southern Miss, which not only dumped General Nat (as in Nathaniel Bedford Forrest) three decades ago, but also has a larger enrollment and a more successful athletic program than Ole Metrosexual. Maybe Hattiesburg should get the name University of Mississippi and Ole Myth should get the regional name. Oh wait, they’ll never go for that. Remember what part of the state they’re in.
11) The Walk of Champions? Better hope the truth-in-advertising people don't find out about that. Which of these does not belong: Alaska-Fairbanks, Boise State, Bowling Green, CCNY, Eastern Kentucky, Furman, Holy Cross, James Madison, Michigan Tech, Minnesota-Duluth, Montana State, Northern Iowa, Ole Miss, Rice, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Temple, Tulane, Wayne State, or William & Mary? Ole Miss, because this is a list of teams that have won a Division I national championship in something. No wonder they call it the Egg Bowl.
