ESPN GameDay on location for LSU - Alabama
It might be the biggest Alabama football game since a certain Hall of Fame coach prowled the sidelines for the Crimson Tide. LSU and the ESPN College GameDay crew will roll into town this weekend for the 2:30p EST matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium. As in previous visits, ESPN will set up on the southwest corner of the quad.
ESPN Radio will be on hand as well, with former LSU coach coach Gerry DiNardo in tow. ESPN has already submitted a request for DiNardo to interview LSU football coach Les Miles for the radio broadcast.
For those who believe in curses, Alabama has never won a home game with GameDay on campus - UCLA (2001), Georgia (2002) and Oklahoma (2003).

As an Auburn fan, I need LSU to loose and for Auburn to win out to go to the SEC Championship. Unfortunately, I think LSU is going to BEAT Bama... Unless Bama's defense plays offense... After all, LSU is better than Utah State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
Yeah, yeah I know Tennessee beat LSU, but that was early in the season and since then Tennessee has been awful while LSU has been winning games.

Just want to commend Our Alabama coach for the respect and positive stroking he verbalized towards LSU on tv during the interview. He makes Alabama Proud to have as a coach. It's wonderful to know we can acknowlege another team positively and still have the faith of winning this game on Saturday. Roll Tide Roll Bama!!!!!!!!

Ouey Geauy Tigers!! I mean enjoy your trip to Tusculoosa LSU (Looter State University). I always enjoy my trips to Baton Rouge except when the officiating is poor. Yes we still remember! I will remember that no-call when my casket is floating in the Bayou. Good Luck LSU, you will need it! Geaux Bama!!

This will not be an easy game on either side of the ball. The Tide must step it up like they did against Florida and Tennessee.Oh but I forgot...Both of those teams did not play well.More like the better team won.Roll Tide Roll. There is nothing I like more than to see the Tide beat on Tigers in back to back weekends.

This is definitely the biggest game of the year by a mile for both 'Bama AND LSU. Nice to see Gameday back in Tiger Stadium after hurricane season stopped it from being there for the Tennessee game.
Calling it "Looter State University", Wes, is a little harsh, particlarly after the whole Katrina incidents.
Personally, I love 'Bama knock LSU off. I'm a Penn State fan, so a Tigers' loss would be HUUUUUGE for us.

This is the biggest game since um.... October first when Alabama upset #5 Florida.
Most people think Bama will loose. Need I remind you that most of you thought Bama would lose to Tennessee and Florida.
LSU and Auburn are both next on the list.
If Alabama can put more than 10 points on the board, they will definitely win. Bama's defense is the best scoring defense in the nation, allowing just 8 points per game, and LSU simply has not played a defense of that caliber. Going to T-town and playing our defense, thats the real deal and the Tide is fixing to show the world they deserve AT LEAST the number three spot, not Miami.

LSU is good, but BAMA is **** good. Alabama will win in a close game and score at least 21 points on offense. I say the final will be 21-10 Bama. and this win puts them #3 in all polls. As for USC, Texas, and the BSC/ABC...go to **** and kiss my *** with their National Championship Game *******. Alabama, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia (with healthy QB) would beat both those teams. The SEC is the best and right now are being penalized for it.

get it right brownsrodeo88, MIAMI is number three in some polls becuase thier defense if the number 1 overall. besides, Miami is not number three in the BCS, but should be after this weekend. We are about to see how a one dimensional team loses.Bryan said:

My head tells me LSU wins this game. I just don't see how Alabama puts up enough points. Yeah, I know they have the best defense this side of Miami, I understand that. I appreciate that. I think Alabama coaches are saying, "If we can get to 17, we win this game." BUT....
I see a 13-10 game when Skylar Green take a punt to the house late in the third, putting LSU up 20-10. This will be the score Alabama didn't account for. Alabama will score late, but LSU recovers the onside kick to end the game.
Would it shock me if Alabama won? Absolutely not.LSU 20 Alabama 17.

A 4 point margin in OT? Not likely. Let's look at how that could happen...
Team 1 can score 0, 3, 6, 7, or 8 points. No more, no less. Team 2, during Team 1's offensive drive, can score 0, 2, or 6 points.
Scoring 2 points would come only after a touchdown... so if Team 1 scored a touchdown and Team 2 returned a PAT for a touchdown... the difference in the scores is now 4 points...
In this situation, unlikely though it may be, Team 2 would have a chance to score... and would have no incentive to kick a fieldgoal, so if they try for the TD and fail, the difference in scores is now 4 points...
...the likelihood of this, however, is almost zero.
Is there another way to get a four point gap? In a word... no.

Teams are tied at 14.
Alabama gets the ball first and is held to a field goal. Score: LSU 14, Alabama 17.
LSU gets the ball and scores the winning touchdown. Score: LSU 21, Alabama 17.
Now, this could be what he was thinking. However, if this happened the score would actually be 20-17 because LSU wouldn't have to kick the extra point.

OT Rules
Is anyone else of the opinion that whatever scores are made in overtime should be erased once the game is over, and that whoever wins should simply be granted an extra point in the official final score (eg 2 teams go into overtime tied at 10, then winner, regardless of how the outcome is achieved, ends up with a score of 11 for a 11-10 game)?
I know this would have the potential to make overtime statistics unreconcilable with the final score, but a 6-6 game that goes to overtime and has ends up being 28-20 has a final score that doesn't even remotely reflect the true complexion of the game. And does a team's defense really deserve to have its PA cranked up because the opposing offense is repeatedly given the ball on the D's 25-yard line? (The opposite is equally true, with offense and PF).
Maybe I'm just bothered by this because overtime has screwed up many a spread this season, but to the see the score of a game literally double as a result of overtime seems completely ludicrous, particularly in a sport where ties were once let to stand without OT.

Moderation
Much like instant replay, moderation really breaks up the flow of the game. I realize there were some issues before - but wouldn't selective moderation be more effective. It takes the better part of a day for a post to make it up on the site. It's like having a conversation by snail mail.
But don't take my opinion too strongly, I've never been much for 'moderation' in any of its forms.

OK.. LSU has the ball first...Bama intercepts runs backwards into the end zone and is tackled for a safety...
Bama takes over and brodie is sacked for a 76 yard loss on first down...there is you four point spread...
next question.

lsuisthebest, come on you shouldnt talk that way about teams in our conference realy.Do you guys realize what people outside the sec think about our conference how we are overrated and how
alabama wouldnt deserve a chance at a nc even if they win out.Look a dislike alabama as much as anyone except fot this weekend but realy i know we have big games in the sec but we should realy stand up for each other. If somehow alabama wins out which i realy dont think will happen it would most likely be the second year in a row that a sec team has gotten screwed.I hate to say but i think people forget just who holds the most nc anyway i think its a team from the sec.war eaglerolltide2005 said:

Question: What's so great about LSU? Answer: Nothing. Let's break it down. LSU has played four ranked (at the time they played them) opponents this year. Arizona St. basically had their way with them, gaining 560 yds of offense on that "great" LSU defense. LSU won (35-31, I think?) by scoring two special teams touchdowns and a 4th and 10, 40yd. miracle pass. LSU lost to Tennessee. LSU squeaked out another 4 point win against Florida (21-17). Then, last but not least, the O.T. win against Auburn (20-17). The Auburn game reminded me a lot of the Arizona State game because Auburn's offense toyed with LSU's "great" defense, virtually having their way with them the entire game. LSU ranks 100th in the country in turnover margin and dead last in the SEC in penalties per game. LSU is no great team by a long shot. Are they a good team? Sure. Good enough to get beat 20-10 in Tuscaloosa tomorrow.

oh, one minute alabama is overrated and has no offense and the next they are world beaters.we will see sat if they are.Dont forget it took auburn five missed fieldgoals for yall to win at your own place.I dont think bama will be able to win sat at auburn after all they havent beat us in four years as for lsu i guess well have to wait a year to get another shot at yall.At home next year.

LSU is the best team in the nation this year (the part that they will be SEC champs is just coincidence).
I feel alright losing to the best team in the nation by 3 points in overtime and without Tyrone Prothro and JB Closner.
All that matters is that Bama will have a great off-season of recruiting and we will continue to be one of the best teams in the nation year after year (or until everyone gets fed up with us winning, and puts sanctions on us again).Nutriaitch said:

Hey war eagle 2004, lets not forget AU only wentr unbeaten last year because of a BS personal foul call on a missed extra point. been watching football at every level for over 20 years, that is the only time i've ever seen that call.

war eagle 2004, make up your mind. What's it gonna be 35-3, 24-6, maybe 80-0? You don't have a clue apparently. AU's raggedy defense has given up about 900 yds and 57 pts. in the last two weeks. I admit Alabama is struggling on offense, but if any defense can be exposed it's AU's, not Alabama's. Alabama's defense held a very good LSU offense to 270 yds. and 16 pts.(10 pts. in regulation)last weekend. Also, almost everything LSU got in the game was off of "busted" plays. Don't get me wrong though, the game is about making big plays. LSU made the big plays - we didn't. LSU deserved the win. The point I'm making is that there is only one "great" defense in the SEC this year - Alabama's defense. They will prove it again this weekend at AU. A prediction with a clue? 16-9 Alabama.

LSU is the best team in the country? No, no, no. They are a good team. A top five team capable of beating anyone, but they haven't came close to proving they are the best team in the nation. Add Alabama to the list of their close call wins this year (now 4 wins for LSU by a total of 14 pts.), and also you can't discount that LSU lost to a 4-5 Tennessee team this year. Now, to put this in perspective, I never said Alabama was the best team in the nation this year. I'm not just railing against LSU because they beat Alabama. LSU, like Alabama, has shown that they can get it done in MOST of the close games. That stinkpile (Tennessee's team) up on Rocky Top in my mind ended any bid for LSU to be called the best team in the nation this year.

Nutriaitch, LSU,s "great" defense didn't do much more than Miss. St.'s defense did against Alabama. Alabama's offense stinks. O.K.? I've already admited to this. After Prothro went down, we just haven't gotten it done on offense. By the way, come back and tell me about great defense after #5 runs all over y'all in the Arkansas game.

war eagle 2004, if the line is always right, then why don't you put your life savings on the game? In fact you don't have to give up the points - just bet the money line - it will cost you more, but we all know AU's gonna win based on the 7 pt. line...right? If you follow my advice, after the game Saturday I just have one request - when you post on this blog change your name to "broke war eagle 2004". Thanks! Have a great day!
