ESPN College GameDay headed to GaTech-Clemson

Word from the boys in Bristol is that ESPN College GameDay will originate from Clemson, SC next weekend (October 21) for the ACC matchup of Georgia Tech - Clemson. The game, which can be seen on ESPN at 7:45 Eastern, will feature the #12 Tigers hosting the #13 Yellow Jackets in what could be a preview of the ACC Championship game later this year.

Clemson will issue a press release after this weekend detailing locations for the ESPN radio and television crews for those fans that want to see the live broadcasts.

UPDATE: The ESPN GameDay broadcast stage will be located at Bowman Field the practice fields.

I don't like College GameDay; but I guess it's an honor to be the feature game for the second time this season. I just hope there's not a 45 minute interview with Charlie Weis, Brady Quinn, or Darius Walker. I'm tired of hearing about the same 4 teams for 2 hours on Saturday morning. It would be great if GameDay could somehow survey the country, and really inform the avid college football fan about all the days' games and teams. "It's deja vu all over again." -Berra

Just to be fair, Boston College (and NC State) currently control their own destiny into Jacksonville. Clemson has to win out and see BC lose once more (plus beat NC State heads-up). Tech controls their own destiny; beat Miami and we're in (with Va Tech loss last night).

Looks like a good chance for the Yellow Jackets to whip Clempson again. WE beat them last year and in fact we beat them THE LAST 2 YEARS.
I mean we played Norte Dame--a much better team then anybody Clempson has played--- and should have beat them. WE WILL DUMP CLEMPSON INTO THE TRASH CAN AND THE WHOLE WORLD WILL SEE IT!!!!!!!
    HAHAHAHAHAHHAH
You will not stop Reggie Ball or Calvin Johnson.
    Another Loss for Clempson.

Your right about BC..it will suck as a Clemson fan to finish 10 and 2 or 11 and 1 and not get to play for the Conference game...but BC still has to play FSU at FSU....that will a tough game and they have to play Wake at Wake and anything could happen there...and clemson plays NC State and Maryland in the Atlantic....I think BC Could loose to FSU..Thats what we as Clemson fan's want...I hate pulling for FSU but I will when they play BC Next week!

JYJL, I'm glad you're confident (as we should be), but don't start assuming Reggie Ball is a different player than he has been for 4 yrs. Even with the huge win at Blacksburg, he showed he's still the same punk from Stephenson High that flashes brilliance one minute and utter catastrophe the next. As far as Calvin, if we HAD a prolific pocket passer, he would go down as the greatest receiver in ACC annuals. As it is, he'll just have to settle for being the highest drafted Tech player in history next April.

and boddy dodd, i know clemson needs a BC loss. but with the eagles losing their only ACC road game so far and having to play at Fl St, Wake and Miami the last game of the year, I see them losing at least once. And There is no reason Clemson shouldnt win out with 4 games at home and one on the road against a slumping v tech team with all sorts of issues on and off the field

yeah, you guys have scoreboard on us for the last two years, but both of those games were really close and might have gone either way. as i remember, two years ago, gt had to come back from 10 pts down in the 4th quarter (relying on multiple pass int calls), and last year the score was 10- 7. I would hardly call that whipping us. In fact, I would call 39- 3 a whipping... i wonder when that happened

This should be an exciting college gameday. It always seems that whenever Clemson is featured on national television the fans are loud and obnoxious. Plus Clemson's freshman running back, CJ Spiller went to a high school about 30 minutes away from my town and I got to see him completely shread our team. He should've went came to Florida and he would have if florida would've offered his best friend,Kevin Alexander( they both went to clemson).

Hey Jan Yellow Jacket Logan, remember baseball season when Clemson ended your baseball season, well we are going to dash your football season hopes as well. Last year was last year. It was not even like you dominated last year, a game in which Clemson beat Clemson. We had three turn overs that were not exactly forced, they were just dumb plays - plays which will not be repeated by this senior dominated team. We also owned you in total yards, time of possession, and total plays. That game was in Atlanta, I do not think that a one point victory in which your team got lucky by our teams mistakes is any thing to brag about. Clemson is going to give it the bee's 10/21 just like it did on 6/16, remember that one when we ENDED your baseball season - LMAO!!! Oh yeah, I do not want to hear any crying from you jackets about our coach saying mean things to you, you bunch of babies!!!!!!!!!!

Look you CLEMPSON cowpokes. Your running backs won't matter. We ain't TEMPLE--come on who can't run on them. Also look at the extended weather forecast (at least on 10-14) it shows rain on THUR, FRI and SAT. Your poor stadium can't hold water. The field will be a slop pit. Your runners will not matter one bit. As far as are cheerleaders -- Atlanta is the home of the most beautiful women in the world. So I hate to rain on your parade and your wanna be team. But I won't have to because it will actually be raining!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
WE own you ---3 peat is here. Even Coach Heisman left you all and came to GT way back in the early 1900's. We are better.

Yes, I agree MDA. This was going well until Jan Yellow Jacket Logan started talking trash. The "Clempson" stuff is old and worn out. Georgia Tech has some great looking females just like every other big college. I would guess that Jan didn't even go to GaTech, or is very young. Also, there is no question that Tech is a great school, but Clemson is a great school as well. Clemson is ranked in the top 30 public Universities in the county, and is continuing to strive to get better.

Overall, I look forward to the Clemson-GaTech game every year. Both schools have a great set of fans, and the games are always close. I just hope that we have a fantastic injury free game, but I want the Tigers to win. Let's put on a show for the county, and show them two classy schools and football programs.

As someone who was an undergrad in Materials Engineering at Clemson and holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from GT, I can say that Clemson's undergrad engineering is more than adequate to produce successful alumni. Any GT alum who says otherwise either has no personal basis for comparison or, more likely, has bought wholesale into their own academic hype. GT is not some snobby over-inflated Ivy League school with more bluster than substance... they are better than that.

Far as the game goes, I worry that GT will stack 8 in the box and dare us to throw (with our inj's at WR, that's what I would do). If we win, it will ultimately be because

    1) on defense, we pillage Reggie Ball.

    2) on offense, we manage a couple big completions in the air, but then spend the rest of the time pounding it on the ground and manage to break through in the 4th.

I'm VERY glad it's at home.

You're kidding me right? Notre Dame is overrated as it is.. They haven't beaten any team that's any good either. GTs wins come from Virgina Tech (who's offense absolutely stinks), Maryland (wow that one was close), and lowly virginia. Get a grip Ga Tech fans. You are coming to clemson on homecoming, against the highest scoring offense in the country, with ESPN Gameday present, and the ACC championship dangling in front of our offensive linemen's helmets. Prepare to get brutalized

Lets look at the schedule. GT beat Samford 38-6, their biggest win of the year. Clemson has demolished teams like samford, scoring 50+ points in four games, while the Giant Turds have not broken the 40 point barrier even once against powerhouses Troy (15 point win), UVA (17 point win), and Maryland (4 point win). You have barely beat lower tier teams, and you have not played the likes of Clemson - no Notre Dame is not as good as us no matter what the media says. The team speed that you will see Saturday is unlike any that you will see all year. The VALLEY, night game, gameday, the nerds do not have a chance. You have a tremendous athlete at WR, Calvin Johnson, but that is it. You have a QB that will throw any where he can to avoid getting hit. He will crumble Saturday. Oh yeah, have you ever heard 125+db, well you will this Saturday. You nerds can flap your jaw all you want, but there is no reason that you have to talk any smack. You will go in to the game as underdogs for a reason. I would love to see all of this talk after the game, but I am sure you will have some science fiction theatre function that you will have to attend that will keep you busy.

Ga Tech will come to Clemson and never hear themselves. Reggie Ball will be so rattled he will not find Calvin Johnson between the noise and 93 Gaines Adams going for his record setting 6th game in a row QB sack. Clemson Fans will show how Death Valley became the loudest stadium in the country ousting LSU last year and were loud and ever present even at away games in Boston, Wake and Charlotte this week. Look for Clemson Fans to turn it up a notch for Game Day and Clemson homecoming. This has all the makings of a top ten Game Day event. Clemson Freshman that have been developing up to this point will show that they are ready. James Davis will show why hew was ACC Rb of the year as a freshman and why he is a nations top RB as a sophmore. One of the Nations top freshman running back recruits CJ Spiller will have a career day and show Game Day why he was a top HS prospect and leading freshman player with speed Ga Tech has not seen this year. Freshman Jacoby Ford now has 6 games of development and will show his top NCAA speed and step up for injured Chansi Stuckey while LaDontee Harris, Tyler Grisham and Big Thomas Hunter will show themselves the capable receivers they are. Clemson will show its passinag attack a threat wether long and deep or to the tight end. Ga Tech will be off balance all game. Will Proctor will repeat his Fla State Performance and show himself better than Reggie Ball. Clemson will have both Hamlin and Merriweather back. An unwelcome SURPRISE for the rambling wreck.
Oh yes Clemson is not 3 deep at RB as many have reported. Try 4 deep. Davis, Spiller, Merriweather and Chanellor (redshirt Freshman with 2 100 yard games this year playing limitedly behind the 3 horseman.) Aaron Kelly will show himself every bit the player to be defensed as Calvin Johnson. Look for Nathan Bennett, Dustin Fry, Marion Dukes, Roman Fry Barry Huimphries to step it up and show the preseason rating as one of the nations top offesive lines. Then the crushing defense lead by Gaines Adams, Donnell Clark, Cory Lambert, Rashaad Jackson, Jock McKissick, and freshman Ricky Sapp and 6-7/ 265 Jamie Cumbie will stop the run and allow for interceptions by Hamlin, Nick Watkins, Chris Clemmons with fumble creating stops by a leading tackler Duane Coleman. AS soon as Ga Tech sets to stop the 3 horseman they will find themselves caught by the quick strike of Kelly, Ford, Grisham and La'donte Harris. The key to victory will be deversity of the offense and failure of Ga Tech to respect the youthful talent of this Clemson team.

Jan -- do you remember the last time that Clemson and Tech played in the rain? The monsoon of 2002 comes to mind. Check the score -- I believe the team in orange won.

And what do you think the rain will affect more -- the running game or the passing game? Throwing and catching gets much more difficult with a wet ball. Try it sometime.

125+ dB is something Tech students only see on paper (or the slide rule) in their EE classes. It is something Clemson students experience every home game in the fall.

looking forward to a great game. Was there in '89 when the tigers under Danny Ford played FSU & Neon Deion in the slop. It was the loudest day I ever heard in Death Valley, even with the rain, but it was also the queitest after Tommy's daddy fumblerooskied Danny Ford. If the Tigers don't thoroughly dominate GT, the silence will be defeaning, like that rainy October day in '89, when Tech runs one back to win the game. As far as ESPN's choice of location, the Esso Club would be a better choice for Gameday. I'd like to see Corso belly up to the bar, and eat some boiled peanuts right after he eats a Yellow hat, 'cause you know he'll pick Tech to win.

MY GOOD #######. I looked at Clempson's board and all I saw WAS "when's the announcment" "Is GAMEDAY coming" I SAW over 40 posts in 6 hours---GET A LIFE PEOPLE. GET A LIFE.
    Anyway
    To doctor five---Good points!!

To JoJo--WHAT?? you haven't beaten GT in 2 years and it will be 3peat this year.

To howard's rock--- "GO TEMPLE ON US". I knew you all didn't get good jobs when you graduated, but the postal service is a job--I guess.
Also, If you play like Temple it will be pretty easy for us. Remember "YOU AIN'T NORTE DAME"

AND who cares if it's practice fields or Bowman fields.
Besides what is so great about Bowman field--never heard of it--so it can't be that great. I mean like at Auburn you have heard of Toomers corner.

GEORGIA TECH is your BOSS at your work and on the FOOTBALL FIELD.

I'm sure that you will stay on here and make sure no one else bashes GT until saturday morning, but honestly I highly doubt that your pathetic enthusiasm for GT will make a difference in the ass whoopin that Clemson has in-store for yall. And yes it is "Clemson". Apparently Tech students can't spell, that is if you are a student or a very bored, lonely woman either way you are totally lame. And to Nebraska.....where is that again? Do you really expect Gameday to want to set up in a corn field? Texas is gonna embarrass yall anyway. I'm pretty sure both Clemson and Tech are both ranked higher than yall. Welcome back to the rankings. Its been awhile.

And no we are not Notre Dame, and I'm darn glad we aren't a soft team like that. Notre Dame has a weak schedule, and they play bad teams like Stanford. I think college gameday made a good choice because this game has more emplications on the ACC Title than any other game this season. Plus Texas and USC are on Gameday every other week. If Texas or USC didn't play in floormat conferences then maybe people in the south would give a damn. But for now the ACC and SEC are all that matter. GO TIGERS!!! and GO DAWGS!!!

You are the biggest idiot in here. First, learn to spell jackass!!! Second, GA Tech is comming to the Valley this year not ATL. It's a rarety in college football for a good team to beat another good team 3 years strait, so don't count on a win in the Valley. Second, we've already played a tough schedule as it is compounded by numerous injuries and have still been smashmouthing teams all season. This will be the best offense that GA Tech has seen all year (VA Tech is waaaaaaaayyyyy soft, so don' even count that as a big win). We can run, run, run, and if we have to pass. And the defense has played big all year. Calvin Johnson will have a couple of TDs, but it won't matter when we have 5 TDs on the ground. Oh and by the way, Notre Dame is the most overated team in the country.....wait...you guys lost to them, hehehehehehehehe.

I'm a recent CU grad, and have been looking forward to this game all season. I can't wait for this weekend...Tigerama, some good times downtown, College Game Day, a day full of tailgating, and hopefully a great nationally televised game that night!

I hope Clemson kills GT, but I'm expecting a close one cause it's always a close one with these two teams, but with a narrow Clemson win this year! :) With Gaines Adams all over Reggie Ball it should be a snap. He can't handle the pressue and his throws will never make it to Calvin Johnson.

    Jan,

Yeah, obviously you didn't respond to me because the comment were way over your 12 year old mind. But in all honesty Georgia Treck has a good football team. Kalven Jonsen is a great reciever and he gives the team a chance to win every time he steps on the field. But if you know anything about football you will look at things from both sides:
    1. It is almost impossible for a good football team to beat another good football team 3 years in a row, especially if they are at the opposing team's home.
    2. Clemson is not the wishy washy team we have seen in the last 5 years, they have been crushing the teams were supposed to and winning the big games.
    3. I don't understand why you keep bringing up Notre Dame as some sort of barometer, when they BEAT Georgia Treck. You could have talked the smack if you would have beaten them, but saying Notre Dame is better than us, where does that put Georgia Treck since yall lost?

GameDay should absolutely be in Lincoln for Nebraska-Texas. The argument that Clemson-Ga. Tech is a preview of the ACC championship doesn't hold much weight. NU-UT is a preview of the Big 12 championship, and the last time I checked, the Big 12 is a much stronger conference than the ACC. How many Big 12 teams are in the AP Top 25? Five. How many ACC teams in the AP Top 25? Four. I rest my case. (p.s.--even the Big East is better than the ACC this year)

I graduated from an SEC school, but I'm a little tired of seeing the same freaking teams (Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, USC, Florida, Auburn) featured on Game Day every week.

Clemson will be a refreshing change. Whether the ACC is having a down year or not, it's still one of the biggest conferences in the country and this is a big game for both teams, a good Southern rivalry, and should be a great game.

Kudos to Game Day for thinking outside the box and heading to South Carolina this weekend. I look forward to it.

    Dear Clempson hillbillies

This will be the absolute worst ESPN GAMEDAY EVER. With the game starting at 7:45 there won't be anybody around at your practice fields. You would be lucky at getting 40 people there in the morning. You do know they start taping some segments before 10 am. Clempson is too small to have it. I see NEBRASKA got 5,000+ on one GAMEDAY. Of course Nebraska had signs ALL over the place urging students to attend and even had a local company provide coffee, doughnuts and pancakes. Also their whole band was there when it first came on.

To all you Hillbillies. I only mispelled "CLEMPSON" AND "NOUGH SAID" to get your goat---and it worked. But, if I did mispell -- My #@#@#$#$ everybody has mispelled on the internet. I like the post#62 BY JAMES going off on spelling and in his comments he had this-----"years strait, so don't"------ what is strait you @#@#@# or DID YOU mispell.

To James in post#81 AND Tiger Fan in post#74---I am 28 years old I have a very good job that pays over $145,000 and my Wife makes $80,000 with a Law Firm in Atlanta. We live in a gated development outside of Atlanta that includes a few ATLANTA BRAVES, FALCONS and 1 hockey player. I stop and get a cup of coffee in the morning where the manager name is JAMES and he attended CLEMPSON. This has to be you buddy. Burger King is a job, so YOU don't need to be ashamed of YOUR job.
(I HAVE ALSO SEEN MISPELLINGS IN 23 posts above by YOU CLEMPSON PEOPLE)

    "NOUGH OF THAT"
    to the REAL issue---THE game.

2 years in a row we have beaten CLEMPSON. AND don't think that the GT FOOTBALL team isn't getting bulletin board material from your SMACK talking on the internet. YOU are already counting this as a win.
LOOK at your schedule --- the 2 lowest ranked teams in the division 1 rankings--- and a terrible UNC team. GOOD @#@#@. Who wouldn't win those games.

TO all CLEMPSON fans: You keep saying GAMEDAY will see your 80,000 fans in the stands. GUESS WHAT about every game they do has MORE then that and they ALL GET LOUD. I don't understand what you hillbillies mean about bragging on 80,000 fans in the stands.

So I will turn on Gameday from my Hotel and see your 40 people at GAMEDAY when it first comes on. I'm sure you may have 200 by 12 noon but that still will be terrible.

Final word will be the final score

    Yellow Jackets----36
    CLEMPSON----21

Andy, Five in Top 25 vs Four means nothing. You have Texas on us... so what i think Clemson and Ga Tech could both give them a game. Besides TX, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Missouri are all you have left, and I think Clemson, G Tech, V Tech, Florida St, Boston College and even Wake or Miami could compete with those 3. The Big 12 might be better at the top, but not from the top to bottom. The competition in the ACC is much stronger because anyone can beat anyone. That makes it a great conference. With that said, I definately think the strongest conference is the SEC, followed closely by the Big 10. The other 4 of the major conferences are all close this year, with the Big East on the bottom. (Rutgers and Pitt are NOT that good)

GT fans. Which 2 players will dominate us?? What did Calvin Johnson do against Clemson last year? Oh wait...nothing (4rec for 46 yards...no TD). Tiger Secondary totally shut him down. Michael Hamlin went up 1on1 w/ Johnson and picked the ball off for a 31yd return.

Ball?? only 126 passing yards against Clemson last year? and you think the 50% career pass completion QB will beat the #1 pass efficiency defense in ACC (#2 in nation). you guys are smoking crack.

Rush defense? Yes, GT has a decent rush defense. However, Brandon Ore would be the only back you've seen that is close to the talent of James Davis and CJ Spiller. and guess what, he averaged 4.2 yds/carry against you...his par is 5.0. Davis and Spiller par at 6.3 and 6.7, respectively, so even if you put a comparable 16% dent in their game, you still looking at 5.3 and 5.6, statistically speaking. Also, Virginia and VT are 11th and 12th in ACC in RUSH OFF, so we're talking about a much higher caliber attack that you'll face with Clemson. GT WILL be able to slow our run down, but don't count on stopping it.

Furthermore, this should end up being a good, hard-fought game. For anyone (CU or GT) to forecast a blowout on either side isn't a very educated prediction. this game is been a barn burner over the last decade, with only one exception...the 2003 Clemson 39-3 whooping over GT. other than that, game has been decided by

My prediction would be very tight game through 3 quarters, until the fourth quarter, when Clemson's superior depth proves to be advantageous and Clemson finally puts up a lead to win by 14.

As for the Clemson and GT low-blows...you people should talk football and numbers. These elementary arguments soar far below the reputations that BOTH of these fine institutions are worthy of. Act like you graduated from these schools, and have the class, intelligence, and dignity that both are made of. Here's to a good game, logical debate, and good sportmanship. GO TIGERS!

You're an idiot and if you were a 28 year old making 145,000 I would think you would have a more demanding job and better things to do during the day than sound like an idiot on these blogs. Which you're not. We all know your lying.

Jan Jacket, really? You're going to talk trash about us not having people out at Gameday? Seriously? You do realize it's YOUR school that has the dinky 45,000 seat stadium and mediocre fan support. Getting fans excited and visible has never been a problem for the Tigers, and you'll see that come Saturday. I just have to chalk you up to a bandwagon fan and not an actual Tech grad because I would think someone who went to Tech would have a little more intelligence that what you've shown here. That, and they probably wouldn't speak English either.

A little off topic, but don't you think it's a bit disrespectful to GA Tech to rank them behind the Tigers? If I were a Tech fan, I'd have a hard time swallowing that one. Seems like Tech should have the edge based on their last six games, doesn't it? And then, to set the line at -9 against Tech, that really is a pop on the nose. They're treating Tech like dogs. It really is a shame, isn't it?

    CHILI,
GT's stadium seats 55,000, not 45,000. Yes, Clemson Memorial is now listed as 80,301, definitely larger than GT's stadium. I figured I might as well jump onto the trash-talking train running on this blog. I've been at all of the GT-Clemson games since '97, and even managed to walk onto the orange paw in '00 when Kerry Watkins caught the game-winning pass with 7 seconds left to play. Many of my friends and I casually strolled onto your field, uprooting a handful of the orange grass as a memento. Where were your vaunted fans then? Oh, and by the way, your stadium was built in 1942, while LSU's Tiger Stadium was built in 1926. They have the ORIGINAL "Death Valley," yours is just the copycat, so please stop using that term.

Jacket01. Our stadium was given the moniker "Death Valley" before LSU's was, in 1949 by the P.C. head coach if I remember correctly, that's where the claim comes from, not when the stadium was built. Knowledgeable LSU fans readily admit this, but thanks for showing your ignorance on the subject.
I'm sorry I underestimated your formidable aluminum pie tin of a stadium, you got me there, but you have no leg to stand on when you knock Clemson for lack of fan support. Our fans were there in 00, it was our team that didn't show up.

Alright. First off all i am hearing with the Georgia Tech fans is about past years and how you have had miracle comeback wins against us. This year is a new one fellas with a completely different setting. The fact of the matter is that this is going to be a very competitive games if both teams show up and play their game. Calvin will be a test for the Clemson secondary and im sure the duel threat of Spiller and Davis will be a tough one for GT to overcome. I do believe though that the winner of this game will be the champion of their respective division at the end of the year and the losing team will have a tough time bouncing back to win their division. BC will almost definitely suffer another loss before the end of the year and the fact is that Clemson has far more talent than them but did not show up for that game(just like they have done for at least one game the last couple of seasons). I look forward to this Saturday night, it should be one hell of a weekend in TigerTown. GO TIGERS!!!!

OK just one more thing for u Mr Jan Yellow Jacket. IF you cant tell by my name i am a student at Clemson ... yes its Clemson not Clempsun. We have been anticipating Gameday coming here for the last 2 weeks and know how huge of an event this is going to be. I have 100 guys that are planning on camping out with us at the practice fields from Wednesday night till the broadcast on Saturday, and i have also heard of many plans similar to ours. If you think that there will not be much fan support, you really must just be a very ignorant person or an idiotic fan that has no sense about the game. Thanks again, Logan

Jan......wait isn't that a girl's name? Anyway, screw it I enjoy making people look like idiots especially children posing as adults in an adult post room(i.e.-Jan). For Jan to say that Clemson won't have any fans for Gameday is like saying GA Tech fans weren't gonna show up for Gameday for the Notre Dame game, it dosen't happen. Matter of fact, I live in Georgia and I know all about the ATL, so your little fantasies about living in the same neighborhood as proffesional athletes just aren't true. Combined total of your and your supposed wife's earnings per year wouldn't put you in a gated community with athletes that make waaaaaaayy more than you two supposedly do. But you might be telling the truth you might live in a wealthy neighborhood in a mansion your rich daddy bought for you(his 12 year old son) and mommy. But like the man said earlier stick to statistics:
    1. We are one of the most dominate offensive teams in the nation right now(statistically)
    2. Georgia Treck has played one good team and one(I don't count Notre Dame because they are soooo overated).
    3. Reggie Ball hasn't looked that great this year Calvin Johnson has bailed him out many times

James - please name who Clemson has played that is intimidating.

    You've played:
Florida Atlantic - blowout over a high school team
    Boston College - you lost. . .
    FSU - only impressive win
    UNC - another blowout
Louisiana Tech - man, tough schedule so far
Wake Forest - they always suck, and you needed a 4th quarter comeback to make it
    Temple - another powerhouse

Don't talk to us about schedules please. Notre Dame is ranked higher at 10 than any team you've played this year.

Your schedule is weak and you'll be exposed in front of 88,000 yokels. It'll be silent except for one section of the stadium by the second quarter.

    GO TECH!

jacket01, and everybody on this board, including Clemson fans. Why can you idiots just not post if you don't have any of your facts straight??

LSU's Tiger Stadium was built in 1924, not 1926. Clemson's Death Valley was coined as such in 1948 era, by Presbyterian College coach Lonnie McMillan with no affiliation to Clemson. The term stuck. LSU actually referred to their stadium as Deaf Valley, because of its noise-trapping tendency. LSU's stadium was never called Death Valley, until 1950s (LSU's official website) and they only started calling the stadium Death Valley because the Deaf Valley term was botched by a member of the press as Death Valley. 1948(Clemson) comes before 1950s (LSU). And since they don't list the specific year, it was more than likely 1955 or later. Either way, it's clear Clemson's Frank Howard Field at Memorial Stadium was called Death Valley 2 years, at minimum if not more, before Tiger Stadium ever was.

But don't forget that the topic of discussion is Clemson versus GT, so stay focused, here.

neither Clemson of GT has a schedule to boast about so both just shut up. We fall about equal on this comparison.

We both had 3 cake games on the schedule. However Clemson blewout all of theirs by 48,51, and 54 points. GT won by 32,15, and 17. ADVANTAGE: Clemson.

GT played a ranked VT team on road and won. VT is no longer ranked. Clemson beat a ranked FSU team, but no longer ranked, on the road. these two easily become a toss up. ADVANTAGE: nobody.

Clemson lost on road to BC. GT lost at home to Notre Dame. These games were opening game and second games agains two currently ranked teams whose offensive and defensive stats are pretty comparable. Another toss up. ADVANTAGE: nobody b/c GT was at home and Clemson was on road...makes up for any disparity between BC and Notre Dame (not much there b/c stats are relatively close between the two).

Wake sucks - Clemson won by rally in the 4th.

Maryland sucks - GT won by rally in the 4th.

    Another toss up. ADVANTAGE: nobody.

Clearly, no big advantage swing or reason worth claiming stronger schedules for either party here. Just look at numbers of each team and where they stand to make predictions. Gonna be a great SSaturday!

Alright another sucessful day for me. Checking my Emails and this blog before I go my home that is located outside of Atlanta. To JAMES post#107 I don't live in AT, I live outside of it and the athletics aren't the best on their teams so they don't make the GAZILLIONS. And my wife works as a office manager(not as a lawyer) in a top law firm in Atlanta, so $80,000 is right. Don't say she's must be a dumb lawyer when she isn't.

To all you haters at CLEMPSON if you are jealous because I have what I have ---- then be jealous. As we learned in Church yesterday that is a deadly sin.

To LUKE post#93 Saying your stadium is the loudest, ect. can't be verified. It reminds me of 2 kids each fighting "my dad can beat up your dad" Come on is their a NCAA offical decibel reader at each game?
Also my point of CLEMPSON bragging about 80,000 people in the stands is this-----When gameday is at MICHIGAN they have MORE than 80,000 and it's loud. When gameday is at PENN STATE they have MORE than 80,000 and it's loud. When gameday is at OHIO STATE, TENN., FLORIDA, GEORGIA, (AND MORE) it's the same.--------SO WHAT MAKES YOUR 80,000 loud fans DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE---AS SOMEONE PUT IT???????????????????????????

    WELL, I got to go.
I'll make sure you know who I am at the game!!!

Jan Jan Jan, I don't knwo why I am defending Clemson so much, but you just seem to not have a clue. You accuse clemson of being too small to host a gameday. Obviously you have never been to Clemson, they have hundreds of RVs packed into parking lots on the Thursday before the game, just to sit there and have their parking place. Their student body has over 16,000 students. I am pretty sure they will surpass the 40 people you are projecting. 80,000 people is so special when the town of Clemson itself from what I have read has less then 5,000 occupants, obviously not counting the students. That leaves about 70,000 seats to be filled by traveling sports fans from across the the southeast, heck, GT is in friggin atlanta and yall cant even sell out a 55,000 seat stadium. These fans actually yell at their games...have you not read or watched video of the Miami game last year in Death Valley? good lord that had to be one of the loudest atmospheres ive witnessed on tv. I am glad you are going to the game saturday so these fans can show you up. Make sure you go to Gameday too. With only 40 people attending i am sure ill be able to spot the biggest @$$hole out there, and it will be you. and notice forttiger you made a great point in your last post yet these techies choose to ignore it because they cannot respond with an insult. you will find out why the atlantic is the better of the two come saturday. go noles!

fort tiger, i really like the way you broke down the schedules. I agree that the schedule strengths are about dead even. BOBBY- i dont know why you put us down for by down 17-3 on the road to wake in the 4th quarter when we WON the game. All that does is point out how amazing it was that we came back and scored 24 points in the 4th quarter on the road to a team now ranked in the top 25. Everyone saying Wake is awful should re-assess the situation. They are not great, but they are no Virginia, Duke, or North Carolina and it is tough to play them at home, especially when Clemson players are used to 85,000 people cheering and at Wake the stadium only seats 30,000. I think by looking at the schedule strengths and performance of Clem-GT this year it will be a great matchup. The 9 point line is accurate, because Death Valley and Homecomming gives Clemson the advantage. Clemson 30 Georgia Tech 21. With the special teams keeping Tech close until the fourth quarter. 2 Rushing TDs for Davis and 1 for Spiller. Calvin will have 80 yards and a TD catch, but it wont be enough. Lets hope for a good game, good weather, and a fun football atmosphere in the Valley! GO TIGERS!

Idiots, help yourself to the Guiness Book of World Records and you will see that Clemson did indeed break the record for the loudest outdoor event ever at 126dB (decibels for you children). This record was set during the 2005 Clemson-Miami game. I will also add that this surpassed the previous record of 121dB set at Tiger Stadium in Louisiana (LSU). Please feel free to look it up for yourself and thank you for this oppurtunity to present you with some facts.

We have both played some weak teams and Clemson could lose just based on their special teams. I was at the Temple game and it wasn't as impressive as the final score. It is cool to find out I'm in the Guinness Book of World Records though. Everybody relax and enjoy the game. First to Tony #108- Wake Forest is a top 25 team in the AP polls so they don't suck get that right. Second, we have played 3 legitimate teams this year and lost one in double overtime. We have flat out destroyed all of the sorry teams that we have played like a powerhouse is supposed to do, can Georgia Treck say the same? I also hope your not buying into the Notre Dame propoganda spread around every year of every decade of every century. They got smashed by Michigan and really should have lost to GA Treck and Michigan ST. but they couldn't close the deal. We are a top five scoring team in the entire nation, we haven't scored under 27 points in a game all year, so don't believe for a minute we won't put it up again. GA Treck won the last two years because we beat ourselves( and by the way Calvin Johnson was held the entire game last year, he got zip).

Jan #112- I never said your wife was a dumb laywer, because I in fact believe you have no wife, so I would never say that. Second, if you go to church then quit cursing us out you jack@ss. Third, I really hope you do go up to Clemson with a Clempson sign, cause you will probably get your @ss kicked.

And to all GA Treck fans, JESUS CHRIST!!!!! Quit bringing up the Notre Dame game. You lost for Christ's sake!!!! It doesn't help out your points at all. That's like us talking about how good BC is. We lost so it doesn't help our points at all.
