ESPN College GameDay coming to Arkansas
The cast & crew of ESPN College GameDay will be live from Fayetteville for Saturday night's Arkansas - Tennessee Game. The Razorbacks, the only team in the SEC without a conference loss, are ranked #11 heading in to the game, while the Vols are ranked #11.
Locations for the stage will be determined later this week and announced at the discretion of the University of Arkansas.

this past saturday proved a few things.. that the razorbacks can pass well when needed, that the razorbacks won't fall apart in a sticky situation when things aren't going their way.. and that the Vols aren't as good as people thought they were.. the razorbacks are gonna roll on this one! 31-23 hogs win!

Thanks C-DOGG...we're all pretty excited to have GameDay in Fayetteville for the first time.
Of course, for the Vols it's old news. According to an article I read this weekend, they've hosted or been at the GameDay location 16 times since 1993.

Pip,
You must not have watched the UT-LSU on Saturday. The only thing that game proved was that they got beat in the last minute by a great LSU team. Not bad considering UT's starting QB the SEC's leading passer played only the first series. I am not saying that is why they lost because the back up played well but most teams would not fare so well against a great team with their number 2 QB. That was about as physical a football game as I have seen in awhile.

I don't know who to go with. Bobby Allen and Louis Cambell, AR secondary and cornerback coaches, are going to have their work cut out for them after the way Blake Mithell carved up our dbs. Will our offense please stop misusing Felix Jones? 21 for 53 yards. He is NOT a power runner, that is what Mcfadden and Hillis are for. Al leat they got the ball to Monk a lot more. The guy can have a game like that against anyone.

The SEC is a contender in the BCS if Florida and Arkansas run the table and meet in the Championship game.
The computers will score the winner bigtime, particularly since both teams would have beaten 3 top 15 opponents by then.

CollegeNut I completely aggree with you on the point that if Florida runs the table and beats Arkansas that they will go to the NC. Its really going to be a tight race down toward the end.Florida is no ticket with SC,EC,FSU and a SEC championship game to play but neither is Texas. Im not worried about UL, mark it down here that they lose this week to Wake.

I am not sure how we are going to do with the freshman QB if Ainge cannot go. Compton looked pretty good all things considered. D MAC will join a long list of good running backs that have not gained 100 yards agaist the vols. They are going to stack the box and make the QB beat them. It should be interesting.

excuses? the back up QB for UT played one heck of a game.. I doubt the final score would have been any different with your main string QB in.. and south carolina was passing like an NFL team in the second half against a man to man.. they were perfect passess.. undefendable... but when we changed to zone it was a different story.. Harris knows what he's doing and he'll be ready for UT.. Hogs will roll again.. it'll be a fun game there's not doubt about that but i stick with my score.. hogs ontop 31 to 23

The Gators beat themselves in that game against Auburn. I truly believe that the Gators are the better team, they are the best team in the SEC, and on neutral site - the Gators will beat Auburn. Arkansas would be a tough challenge as well, but UF has probably one of the best defenses in the nation. I would rank them in the top 5 - they can handle the Razorbacks. UF wins the SEC, THEY should be plaing for the NC, no doubt! And to GATORGregg - I hope your right about the UofL - Rutgers matchup, but I believe the Cardinals will go down as well. Go Gators!!

Arkansas has a great running game, a nice passing game to keep defenses honest, and a good run stopping defense. The true problem is in the secondary which is very suspect. Tennessee's passing game vs Arkansas secondary is were the game will be won or lost. Ark over Tenn 38-28

First of all: Tennessee lost their best running back for a half, a great safety for the game, and some other guy due to the three suspensions for disorderly conduct and public intox...so yeh
Second of all: Tennessee has nothing to play for. They can't go to the SEC Championship and they were just knocked out of going to the BCS...so GO HOGS, Kick some volunteer butt...and have fun at the Music City Bowl

LSU has had to play Auburn, Florida, Tenn, and soon ARK away. That is brutal in the SEC any year, especially this year. Most people realize that the Auburn game was taken from LSU. Most people realize that LSU gave the FLA game away with turnovers and mistakes. And LSU, even with 9 penalties, compared to 1 Tenn penalty, was able to beat them at home.
LSU is the most talented team in the country, bar none. Their offensive line is young and inexperienced which has led to many mistakes and a less than effective running game. Nevertheless, LSU still puts up the points. And the running game is improving each week.
Ask any SEC team who they would like to play again. None of them will say LSU, and for good reasons.

Gonna have to agree with Mooka on this one. Although Arkansas is a great running team - so is California. Tennessee's strength is against the run. Arkansas' weakness is against the pass. I got it Tennessee 27-24 I think. USC stopped Arkansas from running the ball. Tennessee stopped Cal cold. This is the next great test for Arkansas. LSU has been known to stuff the run also. This is also why I think USC will beat California. Good run defenses stop good running teams. If Arkansas' Dick can throw the ball - then Arkansas could take the game. But against Tennessee, and they can't get better balance, they're gonna get into some trouble. Also, the Tennessee passing game is gonna give Arkansas fits. USC really exposed that part of their game. That is how they rolled up the fifty points - and Tennessee is fully capable of throwing the ball for alot of yardage. I'd love to see the Hogs win (and I'm hopin' that they do) - but realistically, matchup problems are what cause certain teams to lose games. Arkansas is gonna have matchup problems with both Tennessee and LSU.

Tommy T,
You are seeing the game about the same way I am. The only team that ran very well agaist the vols was Air Force and that was due to deception more than power running. If Ainge can go we will win by 10, if he cannot we are talking about a very close game. Ark is a good team but they have really only beaten Auburn. I think Auburn overlooked them but would win in a rematch. It should be interesting.

USC stopped the Arkansas offense.
Bear in mind that during the first game of the season McFadden was playing at about 70% because of his severely injured toe and Arkansas was playing with their third string QB.
Arkansas also had 5 turnovers in that game, most inside their own territory.
A new OC has transformed the Arkansas offense this season.
The Razorbacks have gotten better each and every week.
If Tennessee can hold McFadden under 150 yards I will be shocked.

Got to disagree with you on using USC as an example of stopping the running game.. that Hogs played like poo that game... and we've faced the best linebackers in the SEC already.. test passed 38-3... last week at south carolina we had over 400 yards of total offense with only 2 guys... 190ish passing... and Monk isn't the only guy that can catch.. we are a balanced team.. we just run the ball so well we don't have to pass often.. doesn't mean we can't.. look for us to switch to zone a little more this week and a lot of blitz plays to shake the QB.. arkansas wins 31-23

Hope your right. What I'd like to see is Florida and Arkansas. I'd really like to see if Florida could slow that down. USC had the best group of LB's in the country - and a pretty decent DL also. McFadden was not 100% in that game and Johnson was the QB. Felix Jones dropped the rock all over the place and I really doubt that would happen again today. I was a little more impressed with Casey Dick at the controls - I might add. If they could get Monk the ball more often - then they could really do some damage. Monk looks like a guy who is gonna star in the NFL if he could just habg onto a few more passes. I'm not sure if Ainge is gonna play for Tennessee. Is he? Does anybody know? Crompton is one of the best freshman QB's, but as Arkansas and Georgia can attest, it is very difficult to bring in a freshman QB. Notre Dame probably thinks that Jimmy Clausen is gonna save their bacon next year. It isn't gonna happen. Mustain will be a very good QB eventually - as I saw some flashes of brilliance against USC. But, it will be awhile. I also think that Tennessee, especially with Eric Ainge at the controls, is a very stout opponent. Hope the Hogs do well.

I think it is going to be a great game and I am kind of shocked to hear how cocky the Arkansas fans are. They are 1-1 against top 25 teams. Auburn overlooked them and USC crushed them. If you really think you are just going to run over UT, I wish you luck. If Ainge plays, UT wins by 10. If he doesn't, it will be a toss up. As a side bet, Meacham will have more receiving yards than Mcfadden has rushing yards.

I don't get it dude? I made mention of a game that USC scored fifty on your defense. What does that have to do with who played QB for Arkansas on that day? McFadden was still recovering from injury. Felix Jones dropped it three times. USC was pulling away and Johnson had to throw it every time. That's why he didn't look so good. And, he wasn't even all that bad at all. The fact is: Arkansas was playing a real tough game for about 2 1/2 quarters until USC started to light up the Arkansas secondary. What does that have to do with who played QB? You might score thirty next time, as obviously with McFadden in there, the offense is greatly improved. You might even control more of the clock. But, if the secondary cannot guard against the pass - you're gonna get burned. And, it doesn't have anything to do with who is playing QB for Arkansas. It has to do with who is playing QB for the other team. Booty smoked you for fifty and Ainge has already smoked Georgia for fifty. Figure it out.

I also agree that right now - McFadden is the best running back in the nation. Probably the best Pro prospect at his position. The only guy that looks close is Jonathan Stewart at Oregon. I'm talking about underclassmen here. Marshawn Lynch at California is also very good. These three are the best going. McFadden certainly has a shot at a Heisman eventually. He'll at the minimum - make millions in the NFL. Best runner, along with Adrian Peterson, that I have seen in a long time. The complete package. I think that Felix Jones is extremely fast - but lacks the power and instincts that McFadden has. McFadden is the more hard nosed "Pro Style" of running back. He'll transform an NFL team almost instantly.

The Real UT:
That's hitting below the belt. Although I'm curious as to why you would reference a game where we dominated for all but 2 minutes and you needed a fluke play to win.
Tommie T:
A huge factor in the offensive statistics from the USC game was defensive fatigue. Due to the first half turnovers and the predictable play calling in the second half, the defense was on the field for around 80 plays. We aren't deep defensively so your offense simply wore us down and piled up the points. Not to mention the great field position we gave you. I know fatigue is part of the game but I seriously doubt it would have been as a big a final margin if we were a little deeper.
Cal. wasn't able to run against the Vols because they weren't prepared for the team speed on defense. Players and coaches were quoted as saying "we couldn't get to the corner, it seemed like they were a half step quicker to the sideline every time". We will not have any such problem. Also the defense that played against Cal the first week of the season was fresh and healthy, they aren't anymore, but we aren't either so I don't really know what to expect but I do expect a hog win.Chris said:

TN better be show up ready to play. I promise you Arkansas will be and RRS will be rocking. That said, some of our fans need to tone it down just a bit and let the game play out. SEC opponents don't just roll over. I see this as a close game, but give the edge to the HOGS 28-24. If TN can slow down McFadden & Jones, it's going to be a very close. And what about USC losing 3 FULLBACKS, having a WALK-ON as a Starter, missing 2 Starting Offensive Linemen at various points in the season, having their Star Player, Consensus 1st Team All American WR Dwayne Jarrett, playing thru Injuries/miss games, etc...
And by the way, didnt the Coaching staff just BENCH QB Mitch Mustain ??? Im not sure, but arent the going BACK TO the QB that Started the season in the game vs. USC ???

Im had Arkansas on my "Most Improved teams" list at the begining of the season... Im glad to see them doing so well, but lets be consistant with our "logic". If the "its a different team" arguement/excuse applies to Arkansas, then it should apply to other teams that have been through similar re-surgances aswell.

The starter was Robert Johnson, who now is a backup WR. Casey Dick is the starter now but would have started if not for a back injury, He started the last 4 games last year and nearly beat LSU in the finale.
Wasn't it Clint Stoerner who knocked Tennessee out of the natianal picture and possible repeat in 99'?
I hope this doesn't into the USC game all over agian. Playing conservative, boring football for a half, wear our defense out, then have to make big plays when everyone is expecting it.

No disrespect to any of you Hog fans, you made a believer out of me after the response you made post USC. But...before you start with the D Mac 300 yrd game predictions look at it like this, UT does have a suspect run defense when you look at the stats. The stats are misleading though, versus LSU and Carolina the bulk of the rushing yards came from the QB position when the defense was playing off. Newton and Russell are both average when it comes to speed. I'll have to look up the exact numbers but true running backs haven't exactly ran all over our D like you guys think. An unconventional Air Force team did a number on us, and would likely do the same to any other SEC team that struggles against the run. Marshawn Lynch got squat against us, and what he did get was on our reserve squad. I'm sure the Hogs will run the ball well against us, I agree with SF, any SEC game can swing either way. UT/Arkansas has always been a close one. I expect a good Hog team to take the field, don't think for a minute that UT will come in and roll over for you guys. Crompton is a good, capable QB and adds a run dimension that Ainge doesn't have. You guys play ball control, we play quick strike, it will be a good game whoever wins.

Just to follow up on my earlier post only 1 running back has gone over 100 against the Vols so far this season and that was Wynn for Florida with 106 yds. The Air Force backs had 99, and 88 rspectively, but heck their whole squad ran on us.Now I'm not screaming we are strong vs the run, but unless a guy busts a big run of 50+ yards against us I don't see a 200 yd rushing game. I'm more afraid of Monk catching 200 yds worth of balls than anything else.

Looking forward to the Ark. Tenn. game tomarrow! I started watching the Ark.game against SCarolina but was only able to get part way through the 1st qtr. because of some no calls by the refs. Ex. when a pass play was broken up, while the ball was in the air, by an Ark. defender taking the SC recvr. off his feet by the collar; then the push off by Monk right infront of the ref.? I did however get to see the first interfearance call but when the others wernt called I turned it. I do regret it though, because I think I missed out on a pretty good game! It wound up being a close game, and the Tenn. game will to! To close for me to call, should be a good one!

Big Hog,
#107 "Ya'll were coming off the National Championship win..." I am pretty sure USC lost that game against Texas and came into the Arkansas game with a 1 game losing streak. It was their first game after losing some premier players on offense...
I think if you had a shot at beating them at all, it was in that first game.
Go Vols!

I am very excited that ESPN finally wised up, and are bringing Gameday to Fayettville. Because in my opinion Arkansas is the best team in the SEC. That includes Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, and LSU. We really haven't been getting any notice for the national championship. After we beat the Volunteers Saturday, I think we will get some notice. And also we have the best back in the country in Darren McFadden. I don't think he will win Heisman, although I think he should, because he is only a sophmore. And sophmores usually don't win the Heisman Trophy. And with Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis, we have the best backfield in the country. So lastly, Arkansas beats Tennessee, then Miss. St., then LSU. Then we beat Florida in Atlanta. And then beat OSU in the national championship. Woo Pig Sooie. Go Hogs.

It's funny that Corso was on the West Virginia bandwagon at the beginning of the season...now that they have lost and Rutgers is still undefeated...Corso says they don't have a chance for BCS Championship...and how is Florida ahead of Auburn when they beat Florida...we really need a playoff

Oh my God! Thanks for nothing UT! I've been waiting for someone to shut up these hog fans. I guess LSU will have to take care of that job! And then Fla in atlanta--unless miss st. helps out the rest of the SEC.

Hey Tbone maybe if your conference was as good as the SEC you could still have a one loss team that's still in the hunt. Let's try 2 teams from the SEC. How many from the BIG BAD Big East are still in the hunt? BOW DOWN.

PIG SOOOOOIE!!!!! Razorbacks ran all over TN. Look out LSU and Florida. D Mac for Heisman!!!
Yes i'm a Razorback fan. Always have Always will. I even coached Monk in peewee's, lol. My son and Marcus graduated together from EPC. The Razorbacks have the best chance in years to finish high in the rankings, but just remember most of this team is young. QB's, McFadden, Jones, Monk and a lot more will be back next year! Pre-Season should have us starting in the top 5 next year. Razorbacks will finish 12-1 this year with a bowl VICTORY!!!Kevin said:

Dont tempt me, you are right about LSU.They have a good team but the game in in the ROCK.The Hogs have only lost once there since Houston Nutt has been here. That will be a tough game but we are ready for LSU,Florida,or Miss ST.Tell me how it would help the SEC for Ark to lose to Miss ST.Its you dream.WOOOOOOO PIG SOOOOOOOOIE!!!!

Hmmmmmmmm...what can I blog after watching The Hogs Dominate the Vols @ Reynolds Razorback stadium. My prediction about Dmac gettin 200 yds. Oh well I missed it he got 180 and change. He solidified in front of Hog fans, Vol fans and a national audience that he is the most dominating running back in the nation. Oops, what happened to Cal, Auburn and Tx. We take care of business in Starkville on Saturday, then the LSU Tigers take a butt kickin @ War Memorial in Little Rock. Florida hasn't got an offense, and our defense is playing excellent. Sorry I'm at a loss for words as most of the nation is..
Go Hogs Go!!

Arkansas is and has been the best in the west. We just have never been taken seriously until the def of Tenn. Everyone can look at the USC game and say they blew us away. I agree they did but if we remember it was 0-3 at half time. We didn’t even have the same qb. No disrespect to Johnson, but he just wasn’t ready to step up for Arkansas as 1st string qb. We took a loss and went to the next game. Now im a hog fan till the end but this year our wins isn’t because of our good ole boy Nutt, but yet from Gus he's taking this team and really made our offense just as strong as our defense has always been. Now what everyone needs to look at now is not the Florida game but LSU game even though it won’t matter as far as SEC Championship goes. They still could slip in and take the National Championship opportunity from Arkansas. Everyone needs to look at how weak Michigan is compared to an actual good team. Strength of schedule is what everyone needs to look at when it comes the BCS. The SEC will prevale, the winner of the SEC championship will not be going to the sugar bowl this year. They will be meeting Ohio in the Fiesta Bowl.

I'll admit, I thought Arkansas was very overrated a few weeks ago, but I've been proved wrong. Has Arkansas secured the SEC west, or do they still have to beat LSU? Either way, I think a Florida vs. Arkansas game will be a hell of a contest, an I'll be looking forward to it

Now that AR has beaten TN on Saturday, that makes the SEC championship game that much more important for a national championship opportunity. However, AR has to GET to the SEC championship. I think AR will easily take care of MSU (assuming they don't get to cocky), thus making the LSU game meaningless as far as whether they will make the SEC championship game. LSU has a strong team and AR will have to bring their "A" game to beat them (which I think they will). Otherwise, if AR loses to LSU and beats FL in the SEC championship game, SEC will be locked out of the National Championship contention AGAIN!!! GO HAWGS and stay focused.

I will eat my words. Ark ran all over us. Your O line is as impressive as D Mac is. I had not seen Ark play much but I was impressed, they are as good as anyone. Our freshman QB was not ready and Ainge would have made that a more respectable game but we could not stop the run. Should be a good game next year in Knoxville.

Kevin...
i guess it wouldn't help out the SEC in too much if ark lost to msu. it would only help lsu out in conference standings and make the inevitable win (if you hogs stay so damn cocky) for lsu worth more than just a W. hey...anything can happen. Auburn has proved that on more than one occasion this year...oops...all i know is that i'm selfishly rooting for miss state this weekend.
and a brief side bar with all the gentlemen here. what's with chuch norris?! i just don't get it.VOLPIMP said:

Ouch! Big Hog you called it right as rain brother. 180 is as bad as 200 in my book! Our "defense" looked like a bunch of freshmen, bad thing is our D coordinator was outcoached by a guy fresh out of high school! Nothing new there, Chavis has steadily been outcoached for years now. I have all the respect for Coach Nutt, he coached at Murray State about an hour from me years ago and he turned them around from a winless program to a respectable one. No sour grapes from this Vol fan, a possible rematch with the Trojans in the Hogs future? Two 1 loss teams, it could happen if the right teams lose! That would be almost as big as OSU/Mich. Congratulations on a big win Hog fans.

Volpimp,
Hats off to ya Bro. Dmac is for real it's incredible how big this guy really is. I've met him in person and he's all that. We just hope he can stay somewhat healthy til we get to whatever bowl we end up at. We would love to give USC another shot @ us, but the National Championship would obviously be our ultimate goal. Lot's of things would have to go our way for that to happen. 1st things 1st..take care of them Bulldogs. Focus is the key, and yes everybody we should be cocky after the last few seasons that we've endured. It feels great to be a winner. You Vol, Tiger and Gator fans know how that feels. It would upset me very much if the National Championship game ends up being Ohio St. and Michigan, but the BCS, ya never know.Go Hogs Go Beat Missisippi St.

J Thomas, 'preciate that, when it gets down to it none of us in here really know a whole lot, so all we can do is guess, look at some stats, and hope our predictions are right. Problem is most folks can't admit they're wrong, and it is tough to eat crow when you've talked smack all week. That's why I try to respect everybody and give credit when it's due, it's easy to get sucked into the whole your team sucks mentallity, and we all do it at some point. But the way I see it, if the Vols just got ran out of town (like they did last week) I'm man enough to say good job to the guys that did it, I can make excuses all day but the fact is if you lose you lose.

Arkansas fans,
Thats right, QB Casey Dick is the replacement QB (the projected Starter that got hurt)... but QB Robert Johnson was the most exerienced QB in the depth chart. And the fact that Arkansas is a RUNNING TEAM, the difference at QB probably aint that big-a-deal (and actually Arkansas, as a team, started-off this season as one of the most Veteran/experienced teams in the Country! -- USC had ZERO experience in the Backfield)Anyway, whatever the case, there are teams all across the country that could make the "We're a lot better now", claim that Arkansas could make. Just keep things within reason, is what Im saying.
