I have to say McClain, that could be the worst ranking job I have ever seen

Everyone on McClain's list is undefeated, so I can't knock his rankings too bad. ( I can forgive an FSU vote, and maybe even an LSU vote... ). His #6 ranking of Utah gets my support.

I tend to wonder about the people who put Texas above Oklahoma though. I guess we will find out in 2 weeks.

Since I'm the only one that puts Texas above Oklahoma, I guess that shot's fired at me so I'll respond.

First of all, I don't factor prior years' results into rankings. New seasons, new teams.

Second, both teams are 3-0, but in terms of schedule strength to date, Texas ranks 29th, Oklahoma ranks 93rd. Despite playing the better schedule, Texas is ranked above Oklahoma in total offense AND total defense, and also in turnover ratio.

I feel that Texas has played better this season thus far. OU bamboozled a lot of people into thinking they were this unbeatable team of destiny last season, but it fell apart. Again, it's a new season and I'm taking a wait and see attitude.

When they play, obviously the rankings will flip one way or the other. It's hard to downplay either team this early, but I feel the Longhorns are a little better.

I suppose ranking Texas ahead of Oklahoma is not as far of a stretch as not ranking Texas at all.

My reasoning for excluding Texas ( and Tennessee and Florida ) is that in recent years they have gotten a lot of hype and folded. That, and they have enough quality conference games to prove they deserve a top ranking.
