ESPN College Football GameDay

Overseen at last weekend’s ESPN College Football GameDay broadcast: A sign reading “Lee Corso, Please Stop Calling Me.” Wonder if it has anything to do with the “Send a Voicemail From Corso to Your Friends” feature on the GameDay Site. We’ve seen mentions of this feature all over the Web, from a site for Texas Aggie fans to Shack News (usually devoted to computer gaming info, but in this particular forum, talk somehow meandered to thoughts of wreaking revenge “on drunk friend who called me five times last night at 2 a.m. Hope she likes Lee” and the like.

Speaking of GameDay... Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso are going to be on hand for their second UWisconsin game of the year, but their first-ever GameDay broadcast from Purdue. The Boilermakers take on the Badgers this weekend in another battle of the undefeateds. (Wisconsin is 6-0, while Purdue is currently 5-0.) Purdue is looking to maintain their best record since 1943 while Wisconsin wants to rain on the Purdue Homecoming for their first victory against the Boilermakers in three years. It’s looking to be a battle of Purdue’s offense vs Wisconsin’s offense. Purdue’s offense is ranked No. 3 in the nation at the moment, and the Badgers are No. 1 in total defense.

Lee Corso is carrying on a weekly conversation with college football fans on that site. Someone asked Corso which of the current top 5 teams he thought would have the best chance to go undefeated: USC, Oklahoma, Auburn, Miami or Purdue?

Corso said he would go with Miami:

“I think Purdue’s got that Wisconsin game that’s tough, then they’ve got that Michigan game that’s tough. Those two are really tough,” Corso said. “North Carolina State’s not as good as I thought they were. Virginia’s pretty good, they play them there. So I think Miami right now, but Miami better watch out for Louisville. Southern California could be in for a letdown this week against Arizona State. Oklahoma’s got Oklahoma State that’s hanging around, and Oklahoma State’s beaten them two out of the last three years. You just never know, but I would say Miami right now.”

The Gameday broadcast starts at 10:30 a.m. ET Saturday on ESPN direct from Purdue’s campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Wisconsin-Purdue game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. ET.

If you’re feeling up to it, you can compare your predictions for Saturday’s outcomes with Corso’s predictions (and win prizes) in the Scotts Perfect Picks contest.
