Catching Up with ESPN College GameDay
This week ESPN College GameDay hits Raleigh, North Carolina, for the face-off between North Carolina State (4-2) and undefeated Miami (5-0). Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso will be holding forth with their usual pre-game analysis direct from Carter-Finley stadium, starting at 10:30 a.m. ET on ESPN. The Miami-NC State game doesn’t kick off until 7:45 p.m. ET Saturday night.
That game should be a defensive throwdown. The NC State Wolfpack ranks first in total defense and 17th in scoring defense. Miami is ranked 11th nationally in total defense and seventh in scoring defense. Miami’s also the only unbeaten team left in the ACC – you know NC State is looking to change that particular stat.
At the game, be sure to look for the fan holding up the Washington State flag. According to Bus Driver Bobby, this crazy fan has been at every GameDay game so far! In the Q&A section, Corso also mentions this mysterious Washington State fan and denies that he’s with an official part of the GameDay gang: “It’s some crazy fan. I don’t know. He travels all over the country – a Washington State guy. There’s only one of him, and he is at every game. I don’t know what the hell he does. He finds out where we go.”
Lee Corso is carrying on a weekly conversation with college football fans on that site. A sample question this week: “If Michigan finishes the season with only one loss, do you think they will have an opportunity to play for the national championship game?”
Corso replies with one of his patented “Not so fast, my friend” answers: “Michigan, they got to hope that Auburn, Oklahoma, USC, Miami all lose, and Florida State is ahead of them with one loss. So, no. Michigan goes to the Rose Bowl and plays California, and that would be one hell of a good game.”
If you can’t get enough of Corso, you can also send a voicemail from Corso to your friends from the GameDay site or compare your predictions to his predictions (and win prizes) in the Scotts Perfect Picks contest.
