Well, let's see. So far we've witnessed a need for Louisville to pick it up...BIG Time...on defense.
Navy can probably run on just about anyone, but they can't throw it to keep their ship a-float.
Rice is for real; Teel is none to shabby either, not that many have noticed.
Cincy is hell on "D", needs a little spit & polish on "O", and OR St just needs to keep their passes from the other team.
Questions remain. Can Wake bounce back from a tough loss to BC, against a revamped NE that handily controlled a game Nevada?
Will it be the Sooner's day in the sun, or will a Hurricane rise?
Who's really the worst team in the ACC, Duke or UVA? OR, may Buffalo/Temple out shine them both?
Can Boise St win at WA? The huskies looked damn good at Syracuse, but that was the Cuse.
Can MI bounce back against the Ducks? With or without Lou's pepp-talk?
Are fighting roosters really tougher, pound-for-pound, than bull-dogs?
Will the Irish, once again, be shown how good defense is played?
Who'll win the battle of Carolina?
Can BYU tell us whether or not UCLA is worthy of a 13th ranking, and does UCLA really want to know?
Horned Frogs or Long Horneds, I mean Longed Horns, I mean…TCU or TX?
Will Auburn put it together on "O" as well as "D", or is S FL a legitimate threat to take the Big East Championship?
LSU or VA Tech? The real deal or just emotionally drained?
Now for the good news: We all get to find out.

*PN St beats ND as badly as GT did last week.
*AU wins big on South Florida. Jordan Hare stadium is too crazy for the Bulls to pull it off.
*LSU will open everybody's eyes to VT's lack of offense. It will be a shutout.
*PAC 10 rolls today with wins: Oregon over Michigan, UCLA big of BYU, Arizona St runs up the score on Colorado, Washington beats Boise St.
*And finally, my DAWGS put on a show between the hedges. If you want to watch a team play some good offense, tune in to Stafford and the boys!
Everybody enjoy today's action.

Call me crazy but...
OU looks like the #1 team in the country right now. Their defense is unreal, people thought their offense over-performed against a weak opponent but... they're really taking it to Miami right now.

News Flash - After beating the Div 1-AA Youngstown State Penguins 38-6 last week, The #11 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are leading the University of Akron Zips, 3-2 at halftime in the Horseshoe.
Michigan fans are glued to their television sets, as the Buckeye fans are calling the firing of the head coach Jim Tressel and athletic director Gene Smith. This game could make last weeks UM game a distant memory.Lennie Collins said:

Miami played hard; that's what I'll take from the game. OU has a good team, and the 'Canes are in the midst of starting over.
Wright is the way to go for Miami at QB, at least for now. Freeman had difficulty against Marshall (9/21). He'll be good enough next year, but for now, it looks like Wright is the better passer. The Miami WR's have been a concern for years; we really need a go-to threat there.
All I will say for the score is that karma gave OU a gift for getting to play the 'Canes this year to avenge them for the 80's losses; we'll be much better when we get the Sooners at home in a year or so.
Good game, OU...

WOW! Miami really is THAT bad. I can't believe the defensive coach, now head coach Randy Shannon allowed 51 points. Someone please advise the Miami Coaching Staff to MAKE CHANGES when necessary. Did anyone notice that OU did NOT run the ball for a touchdown?

Looks like Ty (#7-#9) blew his load a little early in this game....WVU was a 24 point favorite, and won by 25.
Heavy favorite West Virginia (2-0) scored on its first three possessions of the third quarter and handed Marshall its worst home loss since it opened Joan C. Edwards Stadium in 1991
Marshall played tough early but you can't beat a more talented team on Adrenaline and emotion, good luck next year.

All my concerns have been answered about our QB, I would say he was pretty damn good. Someone on ABC said there were ACC Ref’s at the game, if that’s so they were some class acts as well as Miami played with class, I look forward to next years game in Miami.

The defense gave up 44 points, yeah, but I think the blame lays on the offense...they had nothing going and couldn't support the D. By the end, Oklahoma was just running up the score, and the Cane Defense had been on the field too long to stop them. Kyle Wright led the only decent offensive drive, Freeman looked HORRENDOUS...I coulda thrown some of those passes better than he did...
It's great to be a Miami Hurricane...

You're right, the Miami defense game up 44, not 51, my mistake.
Against Marshall I could tell Miami's offense was going to struggle. Their passing was awful against Marshall. Yeah, Miami ran the ball last week but... it was against Marshall.
Clearly FSU and Miami are going to struggle a bit offensively until the new coaches have more time to work their systems in.

UM looked terrible today. But that was one heck of a team they played. We are expecting a 2 to 3 loss season. Miami will not play a team better than they saw today the rest of the season. VT would play much better againest OU but would still lose by 2 touchdowns from what I saw. Our secondary might have been knocked down to the ground where they belong. I didnt see any NFL caliber players on the field for Miami today. Offensive line was so overmatched by talent it wasnt funny. Miami ususally thinks they are playing againest one of the best defenses in practice. OU defense was very good. I saw a team dominate Miami like we were use to seeing in the old days. Good game OU.

Hey, Ty!!! What Big East Fan said. WVU did more in the 2nd half than many teams do in an entire game. Despite the Herd's emotions and all the hype, WVU did it in your hostile environment. Still, WVU has to learn to play all 60 minutes, and their 2ndary has to learn to close on WR's, not run along with them at 3 or 4 arms lengths away. What with a trip to MD in 5 days, they had better learn fast!!!

And even though I really do not like Michigan much, I do want them to beat the Ducks. Right now its 18-7 Oregon. Come on Michigan. BOOMER SOONER! 51-13! OOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Lennie Collins post #23, I hope you're being sarcastic, because I think Oklahoma did an outstanding job. Yeah, Miami hung in there and made a comeback in the 2nd quarter and was down by 8 early in the third, but I think Oklahoma played outstanding. If you look at the yards for all the running backs who ran with the rock, OU's rushing game topped 100 yards. That is satisfying to me. Murray, Patrick, Brown, and Modu are good, but they are no Adrian Peterson. If it takes Oklahoma to have 3 different RB's to top 100 yards, then so be it. OU did what they had to do to win. Now as to Oklahoma's defense, I was impressed. And after all, they did hold the Canes to only 54 yards of rushing. Now on to Sam Bradford: I could not be more please with his performance. The guy is a true freshman and for his second career start, he threw 19 for 25 with 205 yards, 5 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Dude, I could not be happier with those results, and for the matter, all OU fans should be happy with those results. Bradford will win the Heisman, its just only a matter of time. And Miami fans, Bradford will be a junior when the Sooners travel to Miami. BOOMER SOONER!

c-dogg, I am happy and satisfied that my Sooners got their revenge from the 80's. I do look forward to 2009, but I will enjoy this win for the next 2 years. And Michigan, can you please stop Oregon? Right now, its freaking 32-7 Oregon. I'm sorry Michigan fans, but the Wolverines look horrible. If Michigan loses, damn that will be huge. Everyone enjoy your weekend. BOOMER SOONER!!

An OU reciever & running back fumbling, long snapper snapped the ball over the punter's head, and cornerbacks getting interference penalties? If the Sooners want to be TOP DOGS that cannot happen! OU FAN I'M SERIOUS as Whack Brown is about scheduling weak opponents!

(#33) OUfan,
Just got back in town. I was listening on the radio up until it was 14-3......wow! I have to see the tape in the morning to know just how the game got that bad for my Canes.
However, no excuses because we had our lunch handed to us. Still love my Canes and we'll see how we do in the ACC. Oklahoma looks like they will be waiting for USC or LSU to slip up so they can get in the BCS title game.

YEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
GO GAMECOCKS ALL THE WAY BABY!!
good game georgia very close but i think carolina had it all the way even how close it was...u cant win a football game without scoring any touchdowns, we learned that against clemson in 2005 when we lost 13-6
what a great day jasper brinkley with the only turnover in the game what a way to end it
end GA BOY like i said i think on thursday steve spurrier was bluffing when he said that we looked like a bunch of average stiffs against ULL, he was saving it all for UGA and he delivered probably only have of his stuff so far...the future looks great next stop in the SEC is LSU which is going to be a good game because if we can beat LSU we can beat anybody according to miss state and what i saw so far against VA tech
south carolina now 2-0 (1-0 SEC) is coming on the rise now with a 5 game winning streak (mid tenn state, clemson, houston, louisiana lafayette, and georgia) which probably should be 6 but 1 point loss's still dont count as a win
great win today and now thinking of the others man am i feelin it for michigan i didnt think they would suck this bad...they are embarrasing the big 10 and i guess so is ohio state according to that post i read about the 3-2 at the half but thats just saying the big 10 is overrated
for oklahoma...dang i thats alot of points, think 140 points in their first 2 games i dont think anyone would of predicted that
for marshall...i stopped watching after the first half and it broke my heart when i saw the final score i thought yall had that in the bag
for wake forest...to many chances at the end yall didnt capitalize on but i think that was a bad call without the passing interference
for clemson...hehe i saw a few highlights but next week im going all furman im looking for an upset, probly wont happen but ive still got hope...im saying 33-32 furman
for boston college...thank you for beating nc state, i really dont like them but theres 1 reason i do like them in a way...PHILLIP RIVERS BABY GO CHARGERS and yeah im a chargers fan all the way when it comes to nfl
for boise state...you really dissapointed me i had high hopes for yall but oh well
now lemme get to that wonderful sec
for vandy...come on now yall shoulda beat bama...okay maybe not but i really wanted yall to
for ole miss...come on guys yall didnt avenge the big 2005 bowl upset for me
for kentucky...yall are looking better and better as it goes
for lsu...yall enjoy these bigtime wins but look out come week 4
thats all for me
GO COCKS!

I would keep USC #1; I can't drop them for a DNP but I will say LSU became a much stronger #2; I would drop VT from the top 20 at least;
3-5 would be OU - (WV/FL) on those last two I can't figure out who would stop the other.. WV isn't stopping anyone with the wet paper bag defense and I am not sold on UF either with the losses they had (players on D) and the lack of competition so far

Lennie, ou looked dang good. They are #3 solid. I guess you don't have to run when you can pass all over them. I think we should hold off on the Sam Bradford is better than Colt McCoy comments until the end of season. Colt did get college football freshman of the year. There are still might be some learning curves for him...he is a freshman. So far he looks like the real deal. UT looked alot better but I will be more convinced with solid wins over UCF,Rice, and K-State.

What a game, what a game. I honestly didn't think the Tigers would completely blow out the Hokies. Two great defenses usually equals a low scoring game...I was figuring something like 17-7 for LSU but 598 yards total offense?...against the #1 defense the last two years?...wow. Way to go Tigers. I still love the fact of how these guys are staying grounded after the game. Several of the players were talking about the mistakes that were made and areas that could be improved on. It's a long road in the vaunted SEC. @cock'n'fire south carolina 101...congrats on a great win on the road against a good Georgia team. The old ball coach is at it again (I still can't stand his whining a$$). Looking forward to visiting South Carolina in 4 weeks but not looking past next weeks game so be patient...and be careful what you wish for...lol. "Look out come week 4?"...uhhhh...ok. A nice touch also by the Golden Band from Tiger Land....a 1st in the history of LSU...as a tribute to the VT tragedy...for playing Virginia Tech's alma mater before the game. Class Act. @Trojan Horse: I do agree (painfully...lol) I don't think we can leap frog USC when they DNP. But you need to win convincingly against Nebraska....damn I love college football.

I DO think LSU should jump USC.
I think early on teams should be moved up and down accordingly.
USC may very well be the best team in the country, but they haven't done anything to EARN the #1 ranking on the football field. The #1 ranking was GIVEN to USC due to their talent ON PAPER.
However, last night LSU flat out EARNED the #1 spot ON THE FIELD. They completely destroyed a top 10 team and the #1 defense the past two years running.
#1 LSU
#2 OU
#3 USCNow if USC destroys Neb, I say move them up to #2. I think early on teams should move based on what they've done to date on the football field, not on paper.

I agree LSU should be number 1...for the same reason as 1st and nole...
So USF beats Auburn...I wasn't really surprised...USF is a program on the rise....and really Auburn was LUCKY to have the game go into overtime...if USF's kicker hit any other of his FG's USF would have won in regulation...
ND looked horrible again...still 0 offensive TD's and 0 rushing yards in the game...along with what 6-7 sacks...coming off i think it was 9? against GT...although they are going to play Michigan so maybe they can squeak one out...

Nole #65 is right on. You need to earn rankings. USC hasn't shown much yet. I agree with your rankings, LSU and ou look dominant. We all know that this will not happen the pollsters love USC way too much. They look great on paper every year, and like many other top teams they looked a little flat against Idaho. They should have to earn the #1 back. Speaking of USC and Nebraska, they didn't exactly look great against WF without Skinner, but they are in Lincoln should be a great game.

West Virginia fans what's gonna happen when White and Slaton are gone? Does Rodriguez have some players ready to step up? I've enjoyed seeing WV around these past 2 years, but seems like WV doesn't have alot outside those two.

WVU has 2 true freshman running backs...Jock Sanders and Noel Devine backing up Slaton this year. Devine has over 100 yards rushing and 3 TD's in 2 games......It's hard for me to say this because Slaton is great, but Devine may be better. Jarrett is a RS Sophmore backing up Pat White (Led WVU to victory vs. Rutgers last season) He may be the best Backup QB in the country. If White leaves for NFL...Brown has the reigns for 2 years, If White stays this year and Next. Brown will be a Senior. Brown is 6'5 230 lbs runs like a dear and a cannon of an arm.
Coach Rod's got his future in place....beleive me. Thanks for your kind words about WVU #68

Cock n Fire...
i watched your game. You had wonderful linebacker play the whole game. Your receivers need to improve, dropped to many. Mitchel may be the best quarterback in SEC. You have nothing to worry about with Florida and Tennessee. Especially Tennessee. The offense has to improve or LSU and Arkansas will blow you out. But unless you lay an egg against someone you are going to win the East. You just beat the best team in the East at their place.(I think they are better than you, horrible qb, but you won.) I will be an SC State Bulldong this week. What an upset that would be! And they have speed, just do not have depth.
Andrew post 61.... i agree. Auburn was outplayed last week agains Kansas State and was dominated this week. They had two timeouts and a kicker who can make it from 53 perhaps more. There is no way you do not try to win the game in regulation.

My conclusion after this weekend is PAC-10, yes, PAC-10 is the toughest conference out there right now. Wow, I'm getting dizzy after that statement. USC, Ore, CAL, UCLA, WASH, Ariz St., have all impressed so far. The only teams that are really impressing me right now in other conferences are OU and LSU.
This is the first time in years I can actually take a step back and see weakness in the SEC. With the exception of FLA and LSU I think most of the teams have dropped off a bit.
Of course it's still waaaay early, but that's the way I see it after week two.cctke455 said:

#74...I know that WVU has a questionable pass Defense, but they are averaging around 100 yards rushing per game and out scored first 2 opponents 100-47. With over 300 rushing and 550 total yards per game. How's that not impressive?

I am counting you to lose to LSU and Arkansas. You can beat TN and FLA for us. I swear we just need some offense and we can win the rest of our SEC games. If we catch like we did last night, it might be a 7-5 year with a trip to the mienike bowl! GO DAWGSEye of the Tiger said:

Okay CCTKE, I'll give you WVU. They were a little suspect against Marshall, the same team that got handed by Miami, but I'll let you get away with that one for now. In the bigger picture I think the PAC-10 is the toughest conference thus far. No other conference has shown me any different. Not even the Big East. I think any of the top 4 PAC-10 teams would roll Louis and WVU. We'll find out more soon enough.

Cock-n-fire, I know the Gamecocks are good, the only question is how good? ULL almost beat them. I guess I need to see how good ULL is this year. They might turn out alright and that could excuse a near upset. I don't know...USF just beat AU, ULL almost beat S.C., one of our top dawgs(GA) got beat by S.C., TENN lost to CAL, etc.,etc. SEC is kinda suspect this year. It pains me to say that. Please convince me otherwise.

Don't anyone be surprised to see LSU & OK leap-frog a couple of teams. It's happened in the past when a higher ranked team had an open date; it could happen this week. Right now, I would have to agree with #1-LSU, #2-OK, and #3-USC. Below that is a toss-up.
The Heisman Race: The Big East has been pushing Brohm, Rice, Slaton, & White; the Pac-10 has been pushing Booty. All have fared well...against meager competition. There are certainly others to consider, and OK's Sam Bradford is one of them. Even Rutgers', Mike Teel, has quietly put up big numbers, albiet again, against meager competition. FL's Tebow is doing real well. LSU's Flynn is so relaxed out there, it's scary. There are others who should get consideration. As with which team should really be #1, it's still too early in the season to tell who should be the Heisman front runners.
Some pleasant surprises: Appy St, Cincy, KY, NE, OR, SC, S FL, WA (to name a few)
Some Big Disappointments: FL St, MI, Miami, Syracuse, VA Tech, Wake (to name a few)

If I was an OU fan...I wouldn't tout beating Miami so highly...sure it was a good win for you guys and all that..but beating Miami's team today by a really isn't saying much...Miami isn't even close to being a shadow of what it once was a few years ago...Miami's plummet from the top is probably one of the quickest in college football history..
People put way too much emphasis on things programs have done in the past instead of what they are today...
Prime examples Michigan..Auburn.and.ND.. all have looked flat in their games... Auburn losing to USF...in OT...when really Auburn was lucky to have the game go to OT thanks to USF's horrid field goal kicking if the guy made just one or two of his FG's and USF wins that game in regulation..I don't need to say anything about how flat Michigan has looked...and firing Carr won't help the defense is too slow/inexperienced..Mich fans don't seem to get that....but I guess its understandable..
ND is one of the few powerhouse schools that wasn't highly overrated this season

Rtpayton post #89, us OU fans have every right to tout so highly about Oklahoma's win against Miami this past Saturday. If you didn't know but I'm sure you do, OU and Miami are rivals, and Saturday's gave relief to many Oklahoma fans for what Miami did to them in the 80's . And after this past Saturday's game, I'm sure their is more hatred from Miami towards Oklahoma. Now, you say beating todays Miami team isn't saying much. But what I don't understand is all last week, I read so much and heard so much about how much speed Miami's defense and how tough they are, and Oklahoma wooping a weak North Texas team really had not proved much. But this past Saturday, OU won big against the Miami team with the speed and the extremely tough defense. Now, the media and people such as yourself want to say that Miami was really not that tough. Which is it? I thought Miami's defense and speed was too much for Oklahoma, but now that Oklahoma won, Miami was not that tough. If people think that way, than in my honest opinion, maybe LSU wooping Virginia Tech isn't really saying much. Sure, Virginia Tech was #9, but maybe they are not even top 25 worthy, and maybe the Hokies will finish this season only winning 6 or 7 games. What if that happens? BOOMER SOONER!

From what I observed, here are my top 3 teams from each BCS conference:
Big 12: #1 Oklahoma-Texas fans like to say Limas Sweed is better than Malcolm Kelly, but I think its the other way around. I also think Bradford is on his way to surpass McCoy's Freshman record and he will win the Heisman Trophy before he graduates from Oklahoma. Also, I think Oklahoma has the best offensive line in college football. #2 Texas-The Longhorn offense will struggle against the Sooners defense. The Oklahoma offense will play with the Texas defense. #3 Missouri or Nebraska-Missouri's defense is weak, but Sam Keller is not any better than Zac Taylor.
SEC: #1 LSU, #2 Florida-We'll find out how tough the Gators are when they play Tennesse. #3 South Carolina-They earned my respect. I thought Georgia was for real especially after wooping up on the Cowboys, but the Cocks beating the Dawgs in Athens is huge.
Pac-10: #1 Oregon, #2 USC-We'll find out how though the Trojans are this upcoming weekend. #3 Washington-Haha Boise State. Hey Boise State, welcome back to reality. The 06-07 Boise State team was a one hit wonder, and beating Oklahoma was a fluke and nothing but pure luck. It showed this past Saturday.
ACC: #1 Georgia Tech-A No brainer. #2 Clemson-Another No brainer, but not too far behind Georgia Tech. #3 Boston College-This one is hard because the ACC is really stuggling early this season.
Big East: Hard to say. #1 Cincinatti-Wooped Oregon State. #2 West Virgnina-Their offense always saves their a$$. #3 Rutgers or South Florida: Ray Rice is for real, but South Florida beat Auburn.
Big 10: Hard to say. #1 Penn State??? #2 Wisconsin, #3 Michigan State or Ohio State.
This is my opinion. BOOMER SOONER!!

i will go ahead and eat a little crow right now for doggin on the pac ten....right now that conference is looking pretty darn good...although i will have to say that lsu should be ranked #1 right now...they handled v. tech pretty well...so that should give them the edge over usc right now.....and kudos to washington for stopping boise state and bringing the nations longest winning streak to an end....hats off to oklahoma for a solid game agains the canes.....
maybe notre dame and michigan should switch coaches....do something to stop the sinking ships....
we wil get a sense of florida after this weekends game against tennessee.....
w. virginia looked like they struggled with marshall a little..
so my top five right now...1. lsu
2. usc
3. oklahoma
4. florida
5. w. virginiago gators....and hokies

No I'm definitely not a ND fan...nothing pleases me more than watching the Irish struggle...due to the fact that like USC they are constantly praised by the Media...and consistently overrated...at least USC goes to its bowl games and shows up unlike ND who shows up to be some other schools whipping boy when a much better team should be going to that bowl game...but they don't get a chance to because ND gets to...ND needs to get into a conference..where they will spend all their time in the basement where they belong...
I know OU and Miami are rivals..so its okay to be happy over crushing them...I think the Miami OU game was built up too much same as the LSU VT game...which was another LSU blow out...
For the record I have said all year that Miami and some other schools weren't anywhere near as good as what they were saying on TV..maybe the media over hypes teams to get people to tune in and watch the games because they're going to be "close"...seems logical and thats my guess...
I'm a gators/cards fan...Gators. alma mater...UofL is close by..

Just wanted to clarify the WVU vs. Marshall game. Marshall and its fans have been begging for the game in Huntington since 1915. For the first time in over 90 years they get WVU in Huntington.
Marshall was leading at Half-time 13-6....As I was watching I looked at my dad and said, "You can't win a 4 qrt ball game on emotion and adrenaline." "We (WVU) will put up 40 in the second half."
(Marshall set a stadium record with over 40,000 fans chanting WE ARE...MARSHALL)
The final score was 48-23 with over 300 yards rushing and 500 total yards.....How did WVU struggle?????? By the end of the game WVU gave Marshall its worse loss in Stadium history.
I think many of you underestimate a rivalry game that has been 90+ years in the making...Bring Miami to Mo-Town...WVU squashes them worse them Oklahoma.Bo Bo said:

Tuberville must have had lunch with Mike Shula prior to the Auburn-South Florida game. He stood around looking like a deer caught in the headlights with 2 timeouts and time on the clock just letting it tick down to zero.
They were lucky to win the week before. Kansas State beat them all over the field and only lost because they beat themselves.
Gonna be a long season for Tub's boys.

The reason Tuberville didn't go for the win in regulation is that Cox had been shaky all night long, and he didn't want to give USF another opportunity to score (from another turnover).
While South Florida tried to give away with the missed FG's, Auburn's weak protection of the ball in the 3rd quarter is what set up those FG attempts- we tried to give them the game before they tried to give it back to us.
Overall, I'm not as disappointed as I thought I would be. Before this year started, I knew we weren't a NC contender, and losing this game, while tough, means nothing in the SEC standings. If Cox can go back to resembling himself in '05, we'll end up having a pretty good year. The D looks great, the o-line is improving, and the run game looks promising if we can hold on to the ball better.

AU03: I know why Tuberville did what he did, but I still disagree with it. With 38 seconds left, you have to at least try. By running out the clock, you tell your offense that you have zero confidence in them and you build up no momentum going into overtime. I knew we lost the game right then. I know we turned it over 4 times in the second half. what are the odds of doing it again? 38 seconds left. If you aren't tring to win it, you're losing it.

After the game I read comments making it seem that I, Lennie Collins, made Miami out to be the DEFENSIVE WARRIORS! It come down to this...ut fans, most of 'em, don't wanna admit OU is good. OU has played 2 great games and I will still say it there is always room for improvement. ut plays 1 half of great football and ut should be #1. I don't get it? ut beat a TCU team with a great defense but if we, OU fans, break it down like (I ain't gone say his name) did in regards to the OU/UNT game, then we have nothin' but out of control anger for ut. I don't understand that either! After futher thinkin' my TOP 5 has been rearranged: #1 LSU, #2 OU, # ut, #4 West Virginia, & #5 USC. Wow! USF over Auburn, SEC fans would have never thought, but TBE fans knew it was a matter of time. USF is the Miami and FSU of the early 1980's. The next decade USF and Rutgers will be NCAA Powerhouses. You can take that to the bank
For the U you thought the grass was greener in the ACC, but you had to find out the Hard way, all what glitters in not Gold. The U did a U Turn. Maurice, there is no way that you actually stated that USF is the Miami of the early 80s. Don't get me wrong, the Bulls are an up and coming program, but the only comparison between them and the Canes teams of the early 80s is that they both are from Florida. Miami won their first national championship in 1983, which is the early 80s. Do you honestly believe that beating one ranked team a year is any comparison to that?

ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SUBJECT:Does anybody remember one of the funniest moments in the history of ESPN College Gameday - back a few years ago when Ismail was there (instead of Desmond Howard). They were celebrating the anniversary of the "Win one for the Gipper" speech, and talking about all time best game day speeches. Ismail talked about one that Holtz gave before a big game against Miami. He did his best Lou Holtz impersonation and said it ended with, "I JUST ASK FOR ONE FAVOR....WHEN ITS OVER, YOU SAVE JIMMY JOHNSON'S ASS, FOR ME!!"
It was a classic. Does anyone remember that and happen to have it? I did a youtube search but came up with nothing.

Actually, this loss might be a big blessing for Auburn. It may allow them to correct some serious miscues before the real test comes--the SEC schedule. No one thought we were NC material this year. There's still the SEC, and if that doesn't work, wins over big rivals will sustain us.
Looking forward to your trip down to the plains of east Alabama next fall?

WarEagle,
Moral victories don't count.....it's the W's and L's.
18-13 against the SEC since 1990
7-0 against the SEC since 04'
No, I'm not looking forward to the trip to East Alabama.....since the game is gonna be played in Morgantown in 08'.But come 09' You had better believe it.
How bout' you? You gonna be in Mo-Town next year?

Diggs: Why are you intermixing an Auburn loss to S. Florida with West Virginia? What's your point?
7-0 against the SEC since 2004? Are you including badmitton and slow-pitch softball in that talley? WV has only played 2 football games against SEC opponents in that time frame--Georgia and Miss State. You might want to recheck your facts.
WV is 20-17-2 against the SEC all time, but considering that they've never played Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, or LSU (the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th teams in the conference, historically) I wouldn't tout that too heavy on the old resume. Playing Vandy and Kentucky are one thing. Playing and beating the cream of the conference is another. Good luck to you next year!
Maybe I'll come. Let me look at a map...

Well since this is an open thread and I know I'm a little late but I'd like to take the time to say that I wish Kevin Everett a current Bills player and former Miami Hurricane to a speedy recovery. This sort of thing literally breaks my heart. Lets always have faith that Kevin can make a miraculous recovery. Kevin you're in my prayers.

War Eagle Atlanta,
Hope you're able to make the trip man.....seriously there's a great "Football Atmosphere" in Mo-Town....especially gameday.I noticed the crowd at during the USF game and I came away very impressed just from watching it on ESPN. It must be quite the site to see in person?
I think you'll find Mountaineer Field a rather exciting venue as well?
It's not quite the size of Jordan-Hare but it does have a capacity of 61,000......the record setting crowd there was 70,000+ against Miami in 93'. That was a huge game for us and this one will likely pull around 65,000.....maybe more?
Anyhow it's going to be a good time man......hope you can make it.......Ragin' Rooster said:

#123 Tom ... what's this, no love for the boys from Columbia after beating (a then) #11 team from Athens ... AND, on their own turf?!!
I never realized how much fun it is having a coach that (almost) everyone hates! That must mean he's doing his job!!
