I'm certainly not going to make the same mistake I made last year by running my mouth right after Ginn's opening kickoff for a TD. Last year I really didn't know who to root for because I hated both programs....this year I'll easily root for LSU. They may have stomped my Canes in the Peach bowl, but that doesn't compare to the pain of the OSU/Miami national title game.

GO LSU!!!!!! Go Les Miles...Elyria, Ohio on the national stage!!

BTW....Give us Patrick Johnson back while your at it!!! :O)

So far OSU is dominating the line of scrimmage on Off and Def.

There are 4 quarters of ball though. It's early.

T-Mac has to get more chips for the dip.

T-Mac has had it LSU-30 OSU-20 all along.

The way this one is playin out, it might be quite a bit higher scoring than that.

This game is much better than last year's!!!

T-Mac has to check the Peppers & Sausage for halftime.

    Good Call Kev, Good Call!!!

T-Mac's boys are jonesin for the peppers & sausage at halftime.

    I use Hot Italian sausage.

Sear the sausage first to where it is just cooked good enough.

T-Mac then dices up the green or red bell peppers.

Usually 1 pepper, but with everybody here 2nite more like 4 peppers.

    Then dice up the onions.

Both peppers & onions T-Mac dices up bite-size.

Go ahead and let them cook with the sausage on a low- medium heat.

T-Mac prefers to cook this with extra virgin olive oil cause it is healthy.

Crisco or regular cooking oil could be used though, but this is bad for cholesterol.

You can serve this with or without rice.

This has been another installment of cooking with T-Mac!!!

    While we're talking menus...

In honor of LSU, I made Cajun Seafood Gumbo for dinner, with crab, squid, and andouille. (For some reason, none of the seafood markets in the Orlando area have oyster right now - bummer.) My wife is thrilled since I only cook about three meals a year.

    Geaux Tigers!

    Go SEC!

A two-loss team doesn't deserve to be in the NC game. If LSU wins, College Football loses.

#19: T-Mac, yes indeed it was blue crab in my gumbo. I made my own dark roux and added spices by hand (i.e. I didn't use a mix). I too enjoy cooking, but I travel a lot so my wife does most of the cooking. I mainly do the "big batch" meals like gumbo, fried turkeys, chile, barbecue, paella and that sort of thing when we have a big group coming over for a party. We had several friends over for dinner, but they left before the game started. They're FSU fans and apparently not in the mood for football. :-(

    OU-Ron (#21):

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I-A_national_football_championship

Notice that in the 138 years of College Football History, there are no two-loss national champions.

(Back in 1960, the NC was determined before the Bowl games.)

LSU will cheapen College Football with a win.

Hey, what about Kansas, a one-loss team? Georgia, West Virginia, and Missouri also won big and had 2 losses. What about them?

To answer your question, Playoffs will destroy what is great about College Football, and what is happening tonight will lead right to that.

    I am pissed.

Bo Pelini is the most under rated Head Coaching hire of the year. The naysayers say he has no head coaching experience. Very true. Must be a coincidence that Nebraska has hired the most legendary Head Coach of modern college football as the A.D. in the office next to Bo's. I'm sure none of that T.O. genius will rub off on Pelini...

    Regan

I believe this is only the begining of 2 loss teams playing for the title.

As more and more parity happens within the college ranks it will be harder for any BCS conference teams to put anything better then a two loss team in.

On the flip side i guess you must have felt it should have been Hawaii or Kansas since they were the only 2 teams with less then 2 losses. Wow wouldnt that have been a great game. Kansas cant even win there conference and Hawaii showed they didnt belong in a BCS bowl.

If you're gonna be pissed off, be pissed off because a 1 loss OSU is getting whipped, not because a 2 loss team is doing the whipping...JMO

The keys to this game is Robiskie dropping an uncontested pass for a TD, and the roughing the kicker penalty. Huge.

Before I REALLY go to bed (it was like watching a train wreck), I want to congratulate the LSU fans. Your team played like champions. Mostly mistake free football, I respect that. I have to say I expected them to make some mistakes.

And no, it doesn't suck to be a Buckeyes fan. This team was supposed to finish 3rd in the Big 10(11) this year. Boeckman replaced a Heisman Trophy winner and Tressel got this team to the National Title Game on smoke and mirrors with the QB and receiving corps he had in the stable to work with. NOBODY thought this team would end the season with only 2 losses.

What really burns me are the boneheaded penalties.

The media inserted our team in the game from day one? They were ranked 11th in the preseason. Did you even watch the season unfold? Thanks for disqualifying yourself from intelligent debate with that single, idiotic comment.

40 Acres of Burnt Orange post #41, it does NOT suck being an Oklahoma fan, but welcome to our world. And congrats to LSU. I hate the fact that Lester Miles won the crystal ball, but his team played like champions. LSU had a team full of winners, and having a team full of winners is what it takes to win a national champioship. I kind of wish Bo Pelini was still at Oklahoma. Instead, Stoops has entrusted the world in Brent Venables which to me will make it hard for OU to win another national championship. I guess SEC fans have all the room in the world to run their mouths about how their conference is the best. However, the Big 12 is not far behind. Too bad there are not more Big 12-SEC matchups. And of course, their will be the regular Big 12 play only this time Kansas, Kansas State, and Nebraska will face Oklahoma. I'm glad OU has Texas Tech in Norman. Tom, I wouldn't call it smoke and mirrors, at QB at least. Boeckman put the throws where they needed to be. Robiskie holds onto that catch, and we don't even have to try to kick a field goal.
Dang it, i think what we were really missing is Anthony Gonzalez.

Remember, Beanie is only a sophomore...and he played great. Tressel had a great game plan, but when it came to the second half, and making the right call, the hat came out on top.

    but, #72 does =#1

I would like to point out another thing though, LSU db's>OSU wr's

It was just like Illinois, Robiskie couldn't get open, and when Boekman makes a perfect throw, he drops it in the enzone.

What really made me ticked off about that game was all of the personal fouls that OSU commited, it just wasn't Tressel-like to do that type of thing.

I thought all along that Pettrey should have been kicking instead of Pretorius.

Who will win the SEC next year? Right now, I'm guessing UGA. The dawgs finished this year strongest and they are having the best recruiting class of any SEC team as well. I would love to see UF in Atlanta next year, but I doubt they can grow a good defense in one year.

I'm thinking Georgia has a great chance of winning the SEC next year. It's too bad they got Hawaii in their bowl game. I think the Bulldogs got ripped off from getting a quality opponent there. (Have I just unleashed the incoherent rants of Coondawg, or did he or she get banned?)

    @Regan:
You thought process is as flawed as all the brownnosers that put OSU and Hawaii in bowl games. Just because you have the best record DOES NOT mean you are the best team. When people start realizing this, it will make college football and the BCS not look like a bunch of asses.

@Cane Fan: I would agree that Florida has been far from a dynasty over the last 25 years but forgotten stepchild to Miami??? Who are you kidding! The Canes haven't been in a meaningful bowl(or bowl at all this year, barely last year) since 2001. Anyone that speaks English and lives in Florida knows who the elite program of the sunshine state is, end of argument. @ gOSUFAN27, Ouch....kick me where it hurts. I guess what i should have said is "an OSU team that has overachieved all year". The "crappy" was bad wording, i appologize. You even said it yourself, "picked 3rd in Big Ten, No one expected us to be where we are now". I guess "crappy" in terms of a typical OSU team. The dominating O-Line, Power runner, killer D, and wide outs for days. Hartline and Robisky are no Glenn and Ginn. Just for the slam on my team however, thhhhhpppppth!!!

True tom, we are going to need Boeckman to play like he did against penn state, or at least limit the mistakes. What also needs to happen is boeckman has to get adjusted to the blitzes coming.
Beanie can definantly carry the team though. He will play a huge part in the next 1-2 years at Ohio State.
All of the fouls surprised me as well. Tressel has to stop those.

Regan @31: Alabama had two losses in 1941 and finished in the AP poll #20, but they claim a national chmapionship for that year. That's because one selector out of over 30 chose them as MNC, and that's all they needed.

Ohio State deserved to be in that game, even more than LSU. I'm sure they're getting sick of hearing about being winless in bowls against SEC opponents. They had a good season. Like Tom said, no one really expected them to make it this far, so it can still be considered a success. I bet there's a lot of you out there that wish your team had lost two NC games in a row...

Did anyone else see, in the 4th quarter, on that 4th down pass when Boeckman got hit and fumbled the ball, the OSU lineman closest to the ball get tackled by a LSU lineman so he couldn't recover it? I thought that was illegal? Can anyone shed some light? The announcers didn't mention that although it was evident from more than one angle.

I thought the last open thread might stay open until we got 500 posts. Maybe this one...

    An omen?

I found this site during the stretch run of the 2003 season...I found it again this season...

What a great game...Pelini FINALLY started blitzing again...Harry Coleman came in and absolutely stepped up for Steltz after he got that early stinger...and LSU made the adjustments.

For all the talk of the dominant Ohio State Line, LSU got five sacks, stoned Beanie Wells in the 2nd half completely, and owned the point of attack when tOSU had the ball. I knew we had the ability, but I was honestly surprised at how well we played once we settled in. Also...Boeckman had Sam Bradford syndrome...Held onto the ball way, way, WAYYYYY too long. If your receivers can't get open, then check down, look at the back in the flat, or throw it away...

But, Boeckman got minimized during the stretch run in favor of Beanie, and he underperformed on top of that during the same stretch. When we started staying back and not getting burned on overpursuit on the ground, you knew the game was over. No one thought Boeckman and the OSU receivers were going to win that game. In those one-on-one matchups, Robiskie almost one once in a scoring opportunity. Everything else was meaningless.

Having two decent Big-10 level receivers isn't enough against a legitimate top flight defense that can send waves of defenders at you. Pelini's philosophy of using safeties as nickel and dime backs creates much better pass-rushing and run-support opportunities, and you saw why he favors the bigger guys in the secondary:

Chevis Jackson & Zenon shut the tOSU wideouts completely down.

Gary Crowton threw an absolutely brilliant gameplan at the Buckeyes, and that proud defense got humbled on a national stage for the 2nd straight year. On the other side of the ball, Pelini obliterate the notion his head wouldn't be in the game or the gameplan on defense.

Miles has put together an unbelievable staff, just got commitments from the best cover corners in America, two years (this year and last) running, and the #5 CB in America just scheduled us for his last visit...

This team was chock full of leadership, which I think will be the biggest thing to replace, though Jean Francois, Beckwith, Chad Jones, Curtis Taylor, and Byrd, Lafell, and almost our entire O-Line will return loaded for bear next year...

All in all...a great time to be a Tiger Fan! These are the Good Old Days!

I was very proud that the NC came from the SEC, but even more excited that it came from the Western Division. It was so obvious that LSU was the more talented team and by not turning the ball over and making a dozen stupid penalties they finally lived up to their potential. This game was never in doubt after LSU took the lead. For Ohio State and the rest of the Big 10 it is time to do some real soul searching. As much as it probably pained Herbstreet last night, he made the comment that most fan feedback ranked the Big 10 somewhere between the Mid American and Conference USA conferences. Obviously he believes that for he wouldn't have said it on the air. Good luck to everyone in the OFF SEASON and ROLLLLL TIIIIIDE ROLLLLLLL!!!!

How long do we have to put with Fox broadcasting BCS games. They are TERRIBLE!!!!! Did anyone else notice that at the end of the 3rd quarter, LSU got tackled out of bounds, but the clock kept running. No one said anything. Of course there were no replays, because apparently Fox doesn't have that ability. But they can use their ridiculous Jumper cameras to show a replay of something that happened 2 quarters ago.

I still cannot comprehend how much the SEC roots for each other. Last year I had some UGA friends rooting for Florida. I bet if Bama or Auburn were in the title game, they'd root for each other. What's up with that? As an FSU fan, if Miami were in the title game, the only chance I'd root for them would be if they played Florida. But, I'd blow up the stadium before that could happen :) (kidding!)

I would really enjoy passing on some of the Rivals info after signing day, but.. until then - nah. No recruiting talk.

#99 M-GO Blue: Stars a nice little B.S. system that got made up by recruiting sites to make money.

The Canes have commitments from the most dedicated athletes in the Miami area, as well as across the country. Our "average star" number is brought down by 8 two star guys, all of whom are extremely dedicated and are ready to play for the U - there was no indecision from them, they wanted to come to Coral Gables and compete from DAY ONE.

But if you do want to play the stars game, we have 27 commits, and we are in the process of attempting to sway upwards of a dozen others. We have two five-star commits, versus Michigan's zero (according to Rivals - Scout says we have

The stars don't line up for you Great Lakers as well as you might think...

Randy Shannon is a recruiting machine and will bring this fallen powerhouse back before you can say "Appalachian State."

    -------------------------------------

#66 Mr2Bits: In terms of a dynasty over the past 25 years, there is absolutely no question that Miami is superior. We are down now, but for the Gators to brag about two in 25 while their neighbors to the south have five in that same time period, as well as much better win percentage, is ridiculous.

Even with the bad years we've had recently, the Miami Hurricanes have been the most dominant college football program in the nation over the past 25 years, and I'd like to see you try and argue.

    -------------------------------------

Hopefully, though, Mallet isn't forced to make the decision because Pryor goes to OSU. I also heard something about Mcguffie doubting Rich Rod for some reason or another, I heard talk of A&M. I don't buy any of it but I don't know the inside story.

OU-Ron, we saw a similar thing against the Tigers, but that may have just been Boeckmans lack of picking up the blitz.

TE: Pelini had a great game plan, and he did exactly what you need to do to get Boeckman jittery. Chris Wells and maybe Brian Hartline are maybe the two bright spots of the offense.

TE, my congratulations to you and the tigers for running the table this year. I am one who thinks that they deserve to be number 1. I have lived in California, (the bay area) for better than 30 years. I have family in Alabama and an older brother who is as avid an Alabama fan as I am a Trojan fan. We had fun during those years when So Cal and Alabama played each other.

Last night my wife came by to pick me up from work for my dinner break, (I work as a computer engineer for the BART system). We ate at The Cheesecake Factory in the Pleasanton mall, yum, yum. Even though the game was on in the bar I could not see the TV. I sent waiters over 3 times to get scores but no one seemed to know. That’s a problem with living in this area. If our conference isn’t in the game, no one keeps up with things. As a youngster I grew up in SEC country where games were life and death. I sometimes miss that out here.

I actually have nothing against you, just a little ribbing to stir you up. Sorry if I crossed over the line. It was all in fun. Maybe I’ll see you on next year. How bout’ them tigers! Go luck next fall! I’m outta’ here.

Everyone: Just remember: They make fun of you because they like you.

Talking about the content of fanblogs: Some other blogs do have opinion pieces done by a cadre of contributors, and some are all the better for it. The format here has been to have (typically) fact-based pieces done by one guy, Kevin, and have everyone post their opinion. A little change-up pitch may not hurt.

I'm definitely of the opinion that recruiting should be covered at the end when it's over rather than incrementally as we've sometimes done. Doing the gradual, play-by-play coverage is really something that you share on your homer sites rather than in this format on fanblogs, IMHO.

However, fellows, I'll be honest. I could've used a little more 'uniform' threads...

    Ramblin’ Gator’s Seafood Gumbo

    Ingredients:
1 cup of oil/butter/margarine/bacon fat, according to taste (I recommend peanut oil)
    1 cup of all-purpose flour
    1 large onion, chopped
    3 green bell peppers, chopped
    3 celery stalks, chopped
4 tablespoons minced garlic (or, to your taste)
4 tablespoons minced chiles (or, to your taste)
3 teaspoons cayenne pepper (or, to your taste)
1 10-ounce can of chicken stock or equivalent in bouillon powder/cubes
4 to 6 cups water (depending on how thick you want the gumbo to be)
4 cups chopped okra, mushrooms, or other vegetables (according to your taste)
half a pound andouille (or other spicy sausage)
    2 pints oysters
1 pound crab (preferably, blue crab)

Note: the last three ingredients are pretty flexible. You want to have about 2.5 pounds of protein and you can use most any meat or seafood. I do recommend using something “juicy” like oysters or you won’t get much of a seafood flavor (like the difference between New England clam chowder and potato soup). If you aren’t picky about your seafood, you can economize by purchasing one pound bags of mixed frozen seafood available at most seafood markets for three to four dollars a pound. Squid is also very cheap.

To make the roux, heat the oil in a heavy (preferably, iron) skillet and add the flour slowly while stirring continuously. The roux will first turn a shade of peanut butter brown, but keep going as you want the roux to be chocolate brown for gumbo. The pan will need to be very hot for this (~500 degrees F). When the roux is done, turn the heat down to medium and add the onions, peppers, and celery and continue cooking and stirring until the onions are translucent. Add garlic and other spices according to your taste.

If you are making a large batch of gumbo, you can transfer the contents of the skillet to a crock pot or stock pot at this point (to avoid overflowing your skillet).

Add the water and stock/bouillon to the skillet/pot and bring it to a low boil. Add the sausage and okra (or other optional vegetables, according to your taste) and bring the mixture back to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer until vegetables appear to be done. Add the seafood and simmer until seafood is fully cooked. Note: seafood typically takes very little time to cook.

To serve gumbo in the traditional Cajun way, put a scoop of steamed white rice in a bowl and ladle the gumbo over the rice. Optionally, you can garnish with chopped green onions to add some color.

confession-- try this get some Zassafran's or Tony Chachere's gumbo mix, comes in a little box, you know kinda like uncle bens. Buy two boxes of that stuff add your shrimp, deer sausage, oysters whatever you have comes out great everytime. You have to add alot of okra and peppers.
Another secrect- for the best fryed squirrel use jiffy corn bread mix for your batter.

"Did anyone else see, in the 4th quarter, on that 4th down pass when Boeckman got hit and fumbled the ball, the OSU lineman closest to the ball get tackled by a LSU lineman so he couldn't recover it? I thought that was illegal? Can anyone shed some light? The announcers didn't mention that although it was evident from more than one angle."

I had a Cajun dish years ago that was the best pork I've ever eaten. I can't remember how to spell it and can't find a recipe, but I can spell it phonetically: KOO-shawn-dee-lay. Do any of my coon-ass friends here at FB know what I'm talking about, know how to spell it, or have a recipe for it?

No real recipe, but that's quite an undertaking. Just make friends with a butcher and have him set aside a whole pig for ya'. Split backbone, marinate overnight (garlic, tony's, crab boil and tabasco), then season AGAIN and rotisserie for about...oh...half the day. Gives you 8-10 hours to bond with your buddies who are going to help you chow down on that 95lb piggy. Where y'at? You can borrow my shed if you'd like.

@WEA#101-- who the hell knows...I thought you could fight to the death to recover a loose ball.
Was it 4th down? the 4th quarter was all a blur. I blame it on the lockdown on alcohol by the dome after halftime...reality catches up! but on 4th down isn't boeckman the only osu player that can recover anyway? or am I thinking NFL? I'm a chick...pardon my ignorance. :)

Hey 40 Acres of Burnt Orange I don't remember the exact years but they were viewed has minor infractions. One had something to do with recruiting violations. Yes, because I am friends with a guy who played high school football with Eric Dickerson. Texas offered Eric Dickerson family a house and SMU offered him a house and other things with it. That is why he ended up at SMU instead of Texas. Coach Akers was mad about it and reported to the NCAA. Texas of course did not get burned by it because they turn SMU in. I was not there and this is what my friend told me. So most major programs have had violations of some degree...believe me TEXAS IS NOT 100% clean! Oklahoma IS NOT 100% dirty!

What about Hawaii? They were undefeated?? And I guess with your logic Florida didn't have a shot to beat OSU last year be/c OSU was undefeated, right. You have it so a__ backwards.
Let me fill you in... It is be/c of this system that teams like OSU can get in every year, and until there is a playoff system you will continue to see them get in and get there a__ kicked everytime. This year if there was a playoff, I believe USC and LSU woulda been playing for the marbles. You can speculate GA, KU, or Missou if you want, but we will never know. The system that you know and love currently allows teams like OSU to get in the National title game every year and get embarrassed. Don't hate the teams, hate the system.

Lennie: Maybe it's an entitlement belief that Texas fans now have, but for 30 years after Darrell Royal retired, the national championship scene got along just fine without them--with the exception of two seasons, 1977 and 1983, when they derailed possible title runs by tanking their bowl games. Other than those two seasons, they were pretty much dormant.

I don't remember much about Fred Akers other than he wasn't Darrell Royal. I respect the 1983 Texas squad because they beat a pretty good Auburn team in Auburn to open the season. Luckily for Auburn, their only loss came early with that game, otherwise they might not have been able to contend themselves for a national title. Of course, glitzy Miami got the two most important poll selectors that year, even though Auburn had the most...

Overall it was probably the cleaniest game I've seen out of the Tigers all year, and what I've been waiting to see. The role was some how flipped with OSU. Well, Big-10 fans must have been hating the bowl season again this year. I think the best thing Big-10 schools can do is what OSU is doing the next couple years with USC, play some tough OOC opponents.

Ohio State was a good team, but blowing through that conference and getting stomped in back-to-back NC games does not look good. It only makes the Big-10 look bad. Any number of teams could have been in that game besides LSU or OSU, and I doubt that any other teams in there (besides Kansas or Hawaii because of their weak schedules) would get response that OSU is getting if they were beaten that same way.

But unless anything changes I see no reason to ever put a tough team on your schedule, hell Hawaii got a BCS game. Fan perception means nothing, play a weak schedule and win those games get you BCS $$$$$.

I'd be fool not to give props to GA, OK, VA Tech, USC, the list goes on. But, lets face it, folks. This season, in my opinion, there wasn't a single team all year long which stood out and staked their claim to the NC. If ever there was a season that should have had some sort of play-off format, this was it.

    Then I'd better get started.

Top 10 tips for beginners before you start duking it out with someone who is a veteran on here:

10.Don't go for the big guns right away. TE, Lennie(not nearly as much nowadays), and many others can pick apart any dumb post and make you realize that every word of it is completely stupid.
    9.Get on Zac's good side. He's full-blooded Italiano.
8.Make at least one relevant post before you start picking fights.
7.Once you're in the fight, unless you're against another green-horn, you need to act like you're cornered. Fight to the death(with some relevance, at least)!
6.If you're named will, and someone says "FIRE AT WILL," unless you already started the fight, odds are he doesn't mean you.
5.Remember, if you aren't that good with fighting, it never hurts to carry a switchblade(on here, you would have to find a way to make it shoot out their monitor for succes. Have fun with that one).
4.Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
3.Don't mess with Kevin. He'll tell on you(just kidding, you'll be kicked out by the Fanblogs polic).
2.Look up coondawg. He'll give great examples of the worst
1.Finally, you need to be like a ninja-cat. Half-cat and half-ninja. Well, maybe 60/40 ninja. Just remember, a ninja kicks a pirates a$$ any day!

I do not know anything about college football...I do a lot of researching for the facts...well at least I try to before I post. I am just amazed how Texas fans over the years have "surpressed" the fact that Texas was on probation for recruiting violations in the 1980's. The NCAA college football historians rarely talk about it or remember the fact that Texas and Southern California was on probation during that time. They try to give Oklahoma/Barry Switzer the "bad rap" but believe when Texas and Southern Methodist were recruiting for Eric Dickerson, Fred Akers/Texas was not 100% legit! Many Texas Longhorns fans don't even know that Darrell Royal played football for THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS, BUT they are quick to say how Oklahoma is/have been "stealing" Texas High School football players...whatever that is supposed to mean?

Lennie: I'd have to say that the average Longhorn student today doesn't know who D.K. Royal was, much less that he played in Norman. It would be hard for me to comprehend if Shug Jordan, Auburn's greatest coach, was an Alabama man. (he wasn't) Maybe it doesn't matter in the Red River rivalry.

Vince Dooley, Georgia's greatest coach, played at Auburn. Pat Dye, rebuilder of Auburn in the early 1980s, played at Georgia. Auburn and Georgia have been exchanging coaches for decades. There's mutual respect there in spite of being big rivals. I don't think that Georgia could have a coach that was from GA Tech or Florida though. Bitter rivalries are what make CFB great!

Lennie and War Eagle, first of all, let me say that I know who Daryl Royal is and where he played college ball. I really don't care where he played, he was a great coach for the university. Also, I'll joke about it on occasion, but I really don't care that OU "steals" players from Texas. It's part of the game; you go for the best players you can find. Most of the good teams will recruit outside of their state to try to get the most talent possible. Some of those players would still go to OU even if they weren't heavily recruited because they like the program. The players shouldn't be forced into going to a school just because it's in their home state; it should be where they want to go and play football.

Bevo: I didn't say names. Are you a current student? 'Average' fan/student includes a lot of girls. The mere fact that you frequent here indicates to me that you're not an average fan.

It's surprising to me that we don't have as many posters on here who are (seemingly students) at their respective schools. I thought the younger generation was more wired than that.

War Eagle, I'm not a student at Texas, but I am considered part of the younger generation. I'm in high school in Indiana. When I started watching college football (2002) I saw a few Big 10 games and a few Big XII games. I saw an interview on ESPNEWS with Mack Brown and a Texas player (I don't remember who it was) and I wanted to see if they would execute on what they were talking about. I've kept up with them ever since, and I've checked many websites and a couple books about the history of Texas football. By the way, thanks for considering me more than an average fan(don't seem to be living up to the thread title you gave, do I?).

Also, it's really quiet on here. I assume most people were watching the playoffs earlier, but it's still strangely quiet today.

However, most of them don't know anything about the team (2 that I asked didn't know who Colt McCoy was). But I'm going to be the jacka.. and post this on this forum...

First off - where is the link to the quote you have above - you still don't have it.

The link above is to the Television Press conference.

Then you tell me I need to keep up - why - the context of the quote deals with a question specifically asked about Seniors, not about Juniors, not about So, or RsSo, or RsFr, or Fr... the quote was about SR's and you tried to bash Coach Meyer because he bashed his SR's.. Now you are changing the premise of your argument because it doesn't fit with your agenda.

Again - Coach Meyer was vilified because he allegedly dissed the outgoing Sr's - no one else.

So now you're being Macro and I'm being Micro because I'm focusing on the class - the Seniors - that you originally said he dissed?

@179 Im happy to have Major back, but looking at his track record in his short coaching stint's I wasn't too impressed with what he has done so far. Although the time he spent @ Rice was pretty impressive.

But at Syracuse and Bama it didn't seem like he made very big strides, but he also didn't stick around either one too long. Josh Heupel has done a pretty good job at OU since they brought him in as a coach.

Helping convert Paul Thompson from receiver to QB was pretty impressive, and of course we all know of Sam Bradford. Even though Major won't be QB's coach I think he will have a positive effect on those young players due to what he accomplished on the field. Hopefully he will play a larger role in shaking up our offense so we aren't so friggin predictable as we have been in the past! HookEmHorns #11!

At Bama, Saban didn't trust him to run the offense(not sure why) so they made a mix of what he, Applewhite, and Joe Pendry wanted the offense to run. If you mix three coaches' opinions into one offense, it will almost definitely give the players trouble, which will result in poorly executed offense. The coaches need to agree on one type of offense that is best for their players for it to be truly effective.

40 Acres of Burnt Orange and Bevo Boy you all don't have to address me at all! Again I have no problems with you or any Texas Longhorns Fans, PERIOD! I am TIRED, I will say IT AGAIN, I AM TIRED of ALL THIS BARRY SWITZER cheated nonsense. I will make you feel better and say that he did, at least he won 2 National Titles doing it. Fred Akers tried it and still lost Eric Dickerson to Southern Methodist. A few Texas Longhorns Fans think that hiring these "new" coaches make Texas a National Title Winner but all I can say is what did Private Applewhite do for the Syracuse Aren't and Alabama Crimson Tide offenses? Give me some facts that Barry Switzer "cheated". Seems like Texas Longhorns Fans don't want to admit that he outcoached Darrell Royal into retirement! Get over it! Oklahoma was just better in the 70's and '80 than Texas. The NCAA fixed it where Texas won the National Title in 2005, so Texas Longhorns Fans be quiet for the next 35 years. Don't take this post personal......it's only my opinions! WVU_Lifer you will be alright cause you got a good/warm heart! Take care all my fellow bloggers. Despite different teams, different conferences, differents team colors and logos......Can't we all just get along?

Looks like AU has hired the next Texas DC.

Paul Rhoads from Pittsburg. If i remember right TT tried to hire him once before.

If the pattern holds true he should be in Texas in a couple of years. I just hope we get a chance to play them first.

Paul Rhoads from Pitt to be the next Auburn DC? Looks like he may get a chance to shut down West Virginia again sooner rather than later, being that Auburn and WV play this coming fall. He'll certainly have a lot of returning talent to work with.

Ok, Rhoads. In two years, load up the truck and take I-85 south to Montgomery. Then catch I-65 south down to Mobile, catching I-10 West all the way to Houston. Then grab state highway 290. Takes you all the way into Austin...

War Eagle, check post #178. Kev said he was looking for another quote. Either he hasn't found it or has decided to join the war against Texas.

Hello Bevo Boy Post #218 I am confused that you think that way. I am not sure what you mean by that statement. I responded to you as well as ALL UT fans. If I took things personal I would not respond to you or any of them right now or in the past. I just get tired of UT fans saying Barry Switzer cheated or payed players when they don't have facts. William Mack Brown stated that he recruits poor and disadvantage kids. When the news stations here in Austin report on the players moving back in the dorms many of the players have those big 54 inch tvs and some pull into the dorms with SUV's. Bevo Boy I know you work full time and I know you don't have a 54 inch colored tv and a SUV decked out with rims. I would like facts with these allegations about Barry Switzer. I no better or worse than any other blogger on here. I am not smarter or dumber as well. I view us as all equals! Take care.

Lennie, that's all nice, but you do have one fact wrong; I don't work full time. I'm still in high school (as I have mentioned on this and other threads recently), but I do work part-time at my dad's glass company. My brother and I take apart windows to take the metal to the recycling center (they pay very well for aluminum, by the way) and the glass is either reused or thrown out (it can be recycled, but they don't have one of those machines near town). I do drive a small SUV (not decked out, though, :-()

Bevo Boy Post #222...you have a job! Then explain why not only UT players but any college football player can afford a decked out SUV? When they had UT players returning to the dorms many drove up in SUV's not driven by parents. I asked a few of my UT fans friends how do you think these "young men" can afford all this junk? All of them just smiled and had no comment.

I don't know if i'm the most qualified to make this staement, but i will anyways. C'mon guys, plz!
Lennie, thank you very much for the compliment. I try my best, and was raised by the sweetest grandmother on earth!

    War Eagle,
It's bad enough we have to play you, now you have a DC that knows us inside and out. Then 2 weeks later the Buffs @ CO. Ouch!

I was in my teens when Switzer was in his prime. I honestly followed WVU only, however, the only Rotteness that came from that i can remember was "The Boz", and you can't blame barry for the roided maniac(who was crushed by BO..... Raider fan).
    Peace!

    Ok,
