Talk of suspensions swirl over Gators
When Florida Gators football coach Urban Meyer first got to campus, he explained that the running game was the critical to the success of his offense. The running game, Meyer has said repeatedly, is the key to the passing game.
"I hate to put the whole season on the tailback position, but I'm putting the whole season on the tailback position," Meyer said before spring practice began. "We are a balanced offense. There is a perception versus reality situation about our offense. It starts with the running game, it starts with being physical, and right now we are in a little panic situation with three scholarship tailbacks that haven't done a thing around here."
If that's true, the Gators offense might be dealt a blow as talk continues that suspensions are coming for UF's projected starting RB, DeShawn Wynn.
"I had to deal with some issues when I first got here," Meyer said. "We're handling a lot of stuff within the team. I'm not sure where that came from, but at the appropriate time, I'll discuss it."
Before the season starter, Wynn was considered a bad seed with a poor work ethic. Meyer has complimented him several times this year, but won't comment on the Wynn's status. When asked if he was suspended for the first game, Wynn declined to be comment.
Wynn was suspended for Florida's bowl game against Miami because he was AWOL during the team's walk through practice the day before the Peach Bowl.
