Is Chris Leak's injury worse than it is being reported?

How badly is the starting QB injured? It's a question that has to be asked, after Florida QB Chris Leak went out and threw a career low 107 yards against LSU on Saturday.

The Associated Press reported that Leak received yet another shot of cortisone just before going out against the Tigers.

We first reported that Leak was injured last week in the run-up to the game, and that Leak did not throw a ball in practice at all the previous week.

Apparently Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen felt the shot was no big deal and was not the source of Leak's problems, even going so far as to question if Leak even needed to take another shot on Saturday.

Leak took another injection in Baton Rouge even though Mullen said he questioned the need for one.

"They just did it as a precautionary thing," Mullen said.

Mullen said he didn't think the shoulder injury was to blame for Leak’s problems, though. He said Leak needed to work on his footwork after misfiring often against the Tigers. Leak finished 11-for-30, was sacked four times and routinely threw off his back foot.

“He was hopping around in the pocket and he doesn’t need to,” Mullen said. “Just take your exact steps and throw the ball on time and you’ll be all right. The mechanics had everything to do with timing, footwork and balance.

Despite however Mullen tries to spin it, it's worth noting that Leak has yet to a TD pass since he injured his shoulder and the mysterious nature behind the extent of Leak's wing should have Gator fans mighty concerned.

Regretably Leak would not even be playing on a Spurrier team, he's just not that good, would make a great reciever or runner but no QB We need to get rid of the loser's team that our new coach inherited and let Myer get his own team. Maby someday we will get back to a winning team when the losers leave

Chris Leak is relatively short and relatively slow as was Danny Wuerfell. But like Danny, Chris can be a deadly accurate passer given time to set and throw. Instead of benching Leak, I'd like to see Portis get more snaps. Spurrier proved a few years ago against FSU that a two headed snake can be hard to kill.

How in God's green earth can you say that! Chris Leak is a fine College QB. On the SEC stats he been one of the best. Earlier this year he was one of the top three in avg yds per game. Through 7 games he's 225.0 avg/g - that's #5 out of #10 right now BUT HE HAS BEEN HIGHER most of this year. He LEADS in total yds at 1575. he's #2 with TD's at 10. So he's had a down game with LSU. That means nothing! Florida Gators are glad to have him so Buzzzzz off!

Meyer will be getting the quarterback he really wants to run his offense next season. Meyer is really up on the kid out of Stephenville, Texas. After a few years in the system this kid should really blossom under Meyers offense and the Gators could be back in the National Title hunt.
