Dinner with Urban Meyer? $1 meeeellion dollars

So, you're interested in downing a plate of spaghetti with Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer? Heck, having dinner with the Playboy Coach of the Year is priceless, right?

Well, not exactly.

The Florida Boosters are offering a Gateway of Champions package to include dinner with Meyer and his family in their home. The price? $1 Million dollars.

* An Evening With The Meyers! You and one guest are cordially invited to join Coach Urban Meyer & his family for an unforgettable evening at their home. Talk football one-on-one with Coach as you dine with the entire Meyer family.

PLUS

* Spend an afternoon with Coach Meyer and staff breaking down game film.
* Invitation to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and tour of new area followed by an exclusive reception upon the completion of the project.
* On-field individual recognition during a home football game.
* All perks at the $5,000 donation level.

You know, sitting around the Meyer table, eating Florida Gators corn flakes with the coach for $1 million dollars seems a little... I don't know...over-priced. But when you through in the ribbon-cutting, and well... now ya got something.

There are only two beings that I would pay 1 Million Dollars to eat dinner with......Jesus and Martin Luther King Jr. Not a football coach. Someone please tell me that this is a joke.

Let's put it this way: why is Florida only one of a few athletics programs in the black and therefore not consuming taxpayer money? This is one. I'm not saying this is particularly innovative, but I don't understand any criticism for any (legal, ethical) act which allows the taxpayers not to have to prop up athletic programs.

Florida has rich alumni/fans who have money to burn. Let them burn it.

This is a way to add a little extra for those that want to contribute large sums of money to the university...

Those that have put up these funds to do this (yes, there already have been a few takers) are doing it to give to the athletics program not so much to dine with the Meyers...

Can't say there's a living soul I'd pay $1 million to eat with.

However, if I happened to have an extra cool million laying around, I may do this just for fun. Simply for the fact I could go into Meyer's house and talk football with him... FSU Football... for a million bucks, I'm dictating the conversation lol... now that'd be priceless.

You have got to be kidding. Those who have the gold will do this without the free dinner. I would not even pay that much to eat @ Ballyhoo with Mr. Jeremy Foley...............

UF continues to raise the gold levels to a point that the average fan will not be able to follow the Gators.

How quick do the folks in G'ville including BM forget the middle class were the ones to put up to bring SOS here..............didn't take a million dollar dinner........just pride in the Gators!!!!

OU is the only Big 12 school in football that can boast about this. Don't get me wrong, Colorado, Mississippi State, and Stanford got beat by D-1AA schools last year. Everyone claims the SEC is the toughest conference I disagree. The SEC has schedule more Division 1-AA opponents than all the other conference, FACT. FACT....the sec conf. schedule is the most brutal of all in college football....the big ten is close and the acc is getting there..but you big twelve is still far behind....

QUESTION....in the last ten years how many big twelve teams have national trophies versus the sec.....you probably won't comment on that one......

Second dummy look at Florida non-conference schedule the next few years...the only good team non-conference is Florida State! If the SEC is so good why do the teams, with the exception of LSU this year, schedule D-1AA teams? I actually got my milk from your GIRLFRIEND who is also your sister! I don't have EMC, electric mail courage, In other word if you were right here I say the same thing to ya. You can talk all the junk you want but before you do look the info up. As you already mentioned, Texas had the best offensive player in the land, and the best offensive line. Texas also had the best defensive player in the country in Michael Huff.

Gatorstud post #25, I noticed you asked this to lennie #14: QUESTION....in the last ten years how many big twelve teams have national trophies versus the sec.....you probably won't comment on that one...... I will comment on this for you Gatorstud. Here is the comparison in the last 10 years: 1997-Nebraska, 1998-Tennessee, 2000-Oklahoma, 2003-LSU, 2005-Texas, 2006-Florida. So there you have it, both conferences in the last 10 years are tied with 3 different schools each owning a national title. So what is your point? And you know, I would love to see OU play Florida. The problem is, I highly doubt that the Gators would be willing to do a home and away series and travel to Norman. I mean after all, that distance is too far from the swamp for the Gators, and their chances of getting an ass wooping would be extremely high. And don't deny this, because you know its true. When is the last time Florida actually traveled somewhere west of the Missippi besides to LSU or Arkansas?? And as to your comment about the Big 12 being weak, we'll just see how weak the Big 12 conference is come football season. BOOMER SOONER!

Didn't OU get punk'd by Boise State?
Wow you guys have to play UT ... and that about covers it. Impressive. Yeah, you're welcome for Stoops. If you want to knock our ooc schedule, that's fine. However, you may want to check your facts. In '08 we get Hawaii (they're not Colorado but they're not so bad), Miami and FSU to enhance the toughest schedule in the country. Hell, your own head coach will tell you what a task it is to play Tenn., LSU, Auburn, Bama, UGA and FSU. Since he was here So. Car., UK and even Vandy have become threats. Comparably, the Red River shootout decides your conference champ every year because UT and OU are the only teams in that piss-poor conference with a pulse. I love Stoops and I hope OU beats UT this year. I know, kind of a tall order, but I'm pulling for you. Good luck this year.

Myself, I would just giev the $ to the program and see if I could hang out at practice thru the year. chances are, if your that kind of booster then your going to be welcome all over campus anyway.

Talk about a ego builder. Can you imagine how big Meyer's head will swell. Cingular will have to design a bigger head set for him to wear on the sideline.

Wait a second, where did Florida dominate OSU? Oh yeah, ARIZONA! I'm not great at geography, but I'm pretty sure that's west of the Mississippi. In fact, outside of the Rose Bowl, that's the as far west as the Gators could go in a BCS bowl. While we're at it, how often does OU come to our side of the creek? I have to say that I would certainly welcome Stoops back to The Swamp. Maybe they could throw together a neutral site match-up in Arkansas or something. At least we're equally despised there. Since we're on the subject, Baton Rouge is East of the big river.

Our priorities need to be rearranged if this is true. Most notably Florida's. When I think of the millions without health care, all of the medical research that needs to be done, the poor, and the needy, this makes me sick. I love college football as well as the next, but this is utterly ridiculous. The administration at Florida needs to rethink this, if it is indeed true.

You are right in a sense that we need to keep our answer to what Kevin post on the blog. I will respect your comments if you respect mine. But don't try to act tough when you know I am not there. If I recall OU lost by 1 point after being down by a lot of points! Didn't a Terrible Colorado team lose by 1 to Georgia? Did a sorry Oklahoma State team beat Alabama? So you SEC fans make points but do not want to see them! And Florida does not have a good schedule in 2007. They have a good schedule in 2008 and I will praise them on that but the CITADEL?
