FSU's Steele named Nation's Top Recruiter
Florida State LB Coach (and former Baylor Head Coach) Kevin Steele has been named the Nation's Top Recruiter by Rivals.com. The Seminoles had the #2 rated recruiting class this year, including five of the nation's top 100 prospects signed in a one day span.
Steele was selected over Nebraska's John Blake, Tennessee's Trooper Taylor, USC's Lane Kiffin, Iowa's Lester Erb and Cal's Ron Gould for the honor.
"Kevin (Steele) does an outstanding job and is certainly deserving of the honor," Bowden said. "It should be flattering to the whole staff if one of them is singled out as being among the best recruiters. Recruiting is definitely a team effort here, and all of our coaches contributed to the overall success of the class."
With Steele's background as a head coach, his NFL experience with the Carolina Panthers, the top LBs he's turning out for the pro ranks and his recent success as a recruiter, you have to think that Steele's stay at Florida State could be brief. He could definitely get some looks as head coach elsewhere, or maybe show up as a candidate to replace Bowden down the road.
In addition to Steele, Rivals.com has also compiled a list of the nation's top 25 recruiters.
