UGA Prez to fans: Don't act like Bama fans
University of Georgia President Michael Adams cautioned Bulldog football fans to mind their P's & Q's for this week's Georgia - Ole Miss game, in the wake of questionable fan behavior at the UGA - Alabama game last week.
"I want Ole Miss to be treated this weekend better than we were treated at Alabama. ... Ole Miss should be treated as guests," Adams said.
Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban lectured fans following several incidents at last week's game, including the UGA President being doused with beer by Crimson Tide fans.
"I don’t think it’s classy to throw something on somebody else," Saban said. "I don’t think it’s classy to call somebody’s house at night and complain about something. I don’t think any of that’s classy."

Neither Nick Saban nor UGA President (Michael Adams) can stop a bunch of druken students from acting like idiots.
All it takes is 1 drunk student to start throwing things and the rest will follow.
I'm not sure why; maybe it's the ole mob mentality???

It pains me to admit that GT has a reputation for throwing things if the fans feel cheated by the officials in a game. Happily, they don't seem to assault visiting fans and players like they once did.
My top three for worst behaved fans is
1) Miami
2) UGA
3) LSUI was also verbally assaulted at Baylor one time (I was the only GT fan sitting in the Baylor alumni section during the game), but nobody threw anything at me other than insults, which is okay though a bit surprising as Baylor is a Baptist school.

Never personally have had the opportunity to mingle with Georgia fans yet.
Gator fans are nice, so are Vanderbilt fans. Some Alabama fans I met a long time ago were rather crude. Looked like they had been drinking since the morning. LSU fans are another story.. and people wonder why we love to hate them around here.

Guys, guys, guys. This is really only an issue if you are sitting anywhere near the student section in ANY school's stadium. The adults don't typically act like that--typically! Take it from someone who's been to close to 20 road games in the SEC. Most opposing fans are real nice and pleasant--especially outside the stadium before the game. I refuse to sit in the home team's section on an away game no matter where my tickets are, so I can't give quite as much insight to what happen in the stadium.
However, my tickets last year in Jordan-Hare were in the vicinity that bordered the visitor's section, and for the big games, visiting fans over-flowed into our section. Actually, it wasn't bad. For both the LSU and Florida games, we had visiting fans sitting around us who were pretty cool.
I've always tried to be real friendly when encountering visiting fans. I'd never won't Auburn to make someone's 'Worst Fans List', even if they wore a scripted 'A' on their cap.

#7 War Eagle, my experience has been a bit different. The problems I've seen at Sanford stadium were not with the UGA students, but rather it was from all the redneck (non-alumnus) fans who live within a 150 mile radius of Athens and show up on game day. The students were good-natured for the most part. My bad expereinces at Miami didn't appear to originate with the student section, but I'm not positive about that. The Orange Bowl seems to attract a diverse crowd and they didn't look like students to me.
At LSU and Baylor, it was the alums who were making trouble for visiting fans (in my experience).

Sorry to hear that, Rambling Gator. I think most of this animosity is just talk, but you can always find people behaving badly in a crowd of drunks. I've told more than a few Auburn fans to calm down or shut up and show some class.

No mention of Tennessee Fan?
Sweet Bettina, I've been accosted by Vol fans on numerous occasions--usually before the game (after we beat them down, they STFU), coming right up to your face, and talk'n all kinda' smack, while spittling tobacco juice all over themselves, you, and anyone within spittle-shot of them....like whatever Spurrier said came out of your mouth--and was directed at thier mother...
...rude, rude, rude...
Lordy, I enjoyed that pasting two weeks ago!

I will admit, the fans in the Orange Bowl are pretty bad if you're a visitor. I'm not even talking about the student section, that part of the OB is lightweight compared to the West End Zone. But I've never seen a Miami fan physically assault any fan of the opposing team. Even in the W.E.Z., we generally just throw some smack talk and leave you alone. Now, what I have seen a few times from my seats (which are just across an aisle from the West End Zone section) is Gators fans get harassed pretty badly. But that's just not right, to wear Gators gear to the Orange Bowl when the Canes are playing someone else. But it is a little over the top; two or three sections full of fans will stop paying attention to the game and boo a Gator fan if they're walking up the aisle. I did see a Gator once stand up and start doing the chomp during a Rutgers game, he got his shirt ripped off and beer poured on him, and got escorted out.....but hey, that's just not right, and pretty moronic, to stand up in the OB and do the chomp.

LOL I didn't know there were that many of us Miami fans to tick all of you Gators off... :-)
Every school has good fans, every school has bad fans. Until Labor Day night, I had never run into an obnoxious Seminole guy.
GatorGreg and Ramblin' Gator, I couldn't help but notice that on your lists, the teams you spotlighted were also big rivals. Perhaps that might have more to do with it than the fans themselves. (ie: people get more riled up when they play rivals).
Then again, stay online long enough and you'll find a Ghandi-Mother Theresa Deathmatch. There's always going to be jerks on the Net :-)

Ramblin Gator just made a remark about rednecks outside of Athens (which is pretty accurate) but has anyone been near Gainesville? Gator fans wear jean shorts. That sums it up. Yes Regan...great point in that those were rivals. As a dawg fan My list is UT, UF and GT. Kinda simple. We hate them, so automatically they must be the worst behaved people on earth. Haha, kinda rediculous logic huh, but thats why college football is what we love.

UPDATE: Alabama disciplined two fraternities for the cup-throwing fracas by moving their seats back a few sections. I guess they really showed them. Dean of students Juwan Simpson, when questioned about the light discipline, said: "Well, it was that or let them eat ice-cream cones."
They also threatened them with--and I'm not making this up--forcing them to attend a class called "Capstone Character Class."
That oughta do it!

Once these kids get 20 beers in them they get rowdy and make any visiting fans feel hostile and threatened. Them making some public announcement is never going to change this. The worst fans I’ve ever had to deal with are:
1) Miami (BY FAR)
2) Tenn. fans throw rocks
3) LSU always pick fights
