LSU QB Ryan Perrilloux ineligible?
For a week or so there have been rumors circulating that LSU standout QB Ryan Perrilloux - who figures to be the starter for the Tigers for the foreseeable future - may be facing serious legal troubles. I have not commented on the rumors so far because, up until now they have been just that - rumors.
But not it looks like there may be some truth to the Ryan Perrilloux eligibility rumors.
According to several news sources, Perrilloux is under federal criminal investigation. For those that aren't familiar with the phrase "federal criminal investigation", it's not a good thing, mm'kay?
The Feds are investigating Perrilloux's role in an alleged counterfeiting ring. According to Perrilloux's former high school coach, Larry Dauterive, the LSU QB was questioned by federal agents for more than two hours after last week’s Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Perrilloux has hired a top Baton Rouge lawyer Nathan Fisher, who has a reputation in Louisiana for defending clients in high profile cases.
For his part, Head Coach Les Miles claims he's ignorant of any investigation involving Perrilloux.
This could turn out to be nothing, but -- if formal charges are brought against the LSU QB -- it could mean the end of his playing career at LSU.

Wow. Could LSU win the 2007 Fulmer Cup in the opening kickoff?

LSU still has Flynn and that's all they'll need for next year. I look for Keiland Williams to totally dominate it on the ground. It's too bad that they didn't try and make a move on Jevan Snead while that was all happening. Maybe they could make a pitch for that Brantley kid who gave a commit to Florida. They need to get another QB in there - even if they have to steal one at the last minute. It would be a real good situation for a young QB to get into. LSU will be just fine. They've been winnin' for several years now without Ryan Perrilloux, and I expect that they will continue to do so, no matter what happens to him. Great programs do not fall apart over losing a few guys. There is usually plenty of depth. It's kinda strange that Flynn was thinkin' of transferring if Russell came back - now he's all alone back there. He'll be the man.

Ryan is just a victim of rumors, his name has been brought up because he is Ryan Perrilloux. I have a good feeling all of this will pass, and he will still be able to play out his career at LSU. If something does happen, well we all saw what Flynn did in last years Peach Bowl to The U penitentary.(Miami) Matt is more than capable of earning the starting job, so we might not have seen Ryan play this upcoming season anyways. Hang in there Tiger fans we will be just fine.

Ryan who? This will not make or break our season, have you forgot who QBd the Peach Bowl last year when we crushed Miami. We may have the top recruit class this year and if we get McKnight, its all over boys, LSU National Champs!!

The fact that Ryan didn't want to back up Vince Young shows what kind of judgement he has. If LSU is counting on Matt Flynn, enjoy the Outback Bowl. As a Gator fan, I was rooting for LSU and the other 9 SEC bowl teams. Kentucky beating Clemson made me laugh, poor CJ Spiller.

Tommie-
You've been in the sun to long. Winnning without Perrilloux-yes-it was called Nick Saban. Les Miles is the 11th best coach in the SEC and gets outcoached when it matters. My three year old could win 10 games with his talent. And finally, John Brantley to LSU, please wear a hat when you go outside. He is a double gator legacy.

Look this kid commited to Texas and then hauled ass. Does this sound familiar? He coulda played at UT, but apperantly didn't like the competition.
LSU is a hell of a great program and this kid ought to feel fortunante to be with this great program.

From what I've heard, he's a small fish in a somewhat small pond...
You don't put a nationally known elite college football player at a premier program at the center of an illegal counterfeiting ring...
Not a lot of ACT 31's in the braintrust there, but his HS coach knows what's going on, and is no longer talking. Before he got the mum's the word request, he basically intimated that RP is being squeezed to give up the larger bass's location in this tournament...
Bottom line, he hasn't drugged and likkered up any underage girls, gotten caught with drugs, or stomped on opponents when they're down...
RP will most probably not beat out Matt Flynn...and hopefully, after being humbled first by the talent of JaMarcus, the speed of the college game, and then by Matt Flynn, he'll come with his hat in his hand, and enjoy two years at the helm of the Tiger offense's controls...
We need all the depth we can get...

Good post. Couldn't agree more. Hopefully Perrilloux makes it back, backs up Flynn next year, and becomes that dynamite player for his last two years. I sure hope, as a QB, that he's not thinkin' of goin' pro after three years. That would be a disaster. I think he'll come out of this somehow - and I really don't care how they do it. I just hope that he hasn't gotten mixed up with any real bad people.

His brother and a friend had gotten ahold of some funny money...They were going to a few local groceries, buying gum & a coke, then paying with a tainted twenty, and then pocketing the change.
Ryan evidently tried to pass a $20 spot, they told him it wasn't any good, & then he promptly paid with legal tender. They wrote his license plate down, and here we are...
Bottom line...We've gotten a great 4-Star Rivals guy in Jarrett Lee who I've watched the tapes on. Matt needs to recover from "pitcher's elbow" that gave him a sore arm up until halfway through the year, but all reports are that he's slinging it down the field. Ryan will don Purple & Gold next fall. Jarrett will redshirt, and set up the future very well for the Tigers.
What you guys aren't even thinking about is how ridiculously stupid good our defense is going to be next year...
Did I mention we return our 1st team All-World D-Tackle Glenn Dorsey? As well as Tyson Jackson, Marlon Favorite, and all-world, all training table 6-5, 315 pound Al Woods as a true sophomore, along with a beautiful haul of D-line talent this past year...
We get back two senior cover corner starters, all three linebackers, and Steltz at safety stepped up bigtime in the 1st half of the Sugar Bowl for Jesse Daniels...
This team is going to be loaded for bear in '07...Loaded for bear, I'm telling you...

Tigereducated, post 27. YOU try and make it sound like Ryan ia an innocent bystandard in all of this. You say they got ahold of funny money. You say Ryan tried to pass a phony $20 spot, but when Ryan realized the money wasn't good he promptly paid with LEGAL TENDER. You say they were buying gum & a coke. You, my friend, are either very NAIVE or full of sh*t! Trying to make Perrilloux sound like a Choir Boy. YEAH, Gum & a Coke. I bet that's what they were buying!
Tigereducated, YOU say that LSU will be loaded for bear in 2007. Maybe, maybe not. We will see. It's a shame that an honest guy like Perrilloux will not be part of that loaded LSU team.....

Well, I can see I've signed up the first member of my fanclub...I had a Wazzu fan going toe-to-toe with me back in the day...You remind me of him...
Heavy on the passion, short on the substance...
Your inferences belong to you and you alone...I am not responsible for how you interpret what I write. I cannot control that.
You could always ask me if I felt Ryan was to blame...and I'd say that yes, he very much was.
But, if you can deck a rec league hoops player (Tenn)...If you can lie about schtooping your office secretary (Dumbo-se)...If you can get into a barfight at 4AM (McFadden)...If you can fail multiple drug tests only to be dismissed, after the LSU game (LOL)...
If you can do all that, and remain on an SEC football team, then chances are, Ryan-in turn for his cooperation-will be spared any real criminal issues surrounding this problem.
Dumb idea? You bet...Burning him at the stake? Well, I'm not ready to just yet...The kid had a HUGE head coming out of HS (Hell, he went Ron Pawlus & Beano Cook on us all at once, proclaiming himself that he'd win two Heisman's). He made a mistake here...But, he's not the first, nor will he be the last to do so.
He's not the star of The Knights Of Prosperity, but then again, he's not an altar boy, either...
I think he will be disciplined, and he will be on the team in the fall...

Just like Kevin stated in the post. It could turn out to be nothing. I hope it does. I certainly don't want another player with a future to throw it away. If it does turn out to be something dealing with the Feds is not anything to be taken lightly. That's serious. I hope it works out for him.

Louisianians have a history of dealing with the feds all the time...
Hell...From our past to our present...
Our former Governor Edwin Edwards got away from them two out of three times...(I'll leave out the fact that he didn't get away from them the third time, LOL)...
Everyone knows how much we've dealt with FEMA, the Road Home Program, the Louisiana Recovery Authority, and the Feds on our Recovery issues...
...and of course now we have RP getting into it with the Feds...
Nothing new here in our state...Just another day at the office...

LSU fans knew what they were getting when this punk initially committed to Texas and changed on signing day. Do you remember this quote,
"LSU is the perfect school for me. I can come in and play next year. JaMarcus struggled last year, and Matt Flynn is definitely not a better quarterback than me. It's just a perfect opportunity."
Ryan is only reaping what he has sewed! If he gets into deep trouble, good for him...maybe he will learn something!!

To those tigers who said they will be National Champs it may be true but not until Les Miles is gone, he is the king of the bad call he makes the right decision at the wrong time he has cost you every game that you have lost, and will continue to do so. I like the fact that you have this loyalty for you team that is what I love about the game but please understand that Les will never be a national champ coach he will always fall short and deep down you tigers fans know it, but good luck in your dream world.

Hold them tigers! Joey McKnight is never going to go to Ole' Miss and even Saban can't get him to come up there by trying to entice Curtis with coaching opportunities. LSU has begun to establish itself as a super-power not only in the SEC but in the country as well, we are getting commitments from legitimate athletes who we aren't trying to recruit. Sans Ryan P. LSU will make it next year, it just sucks he turned out to be another McPherson, I guess there's always the Arena League, I hear Bon Jovi needs a good quarterback, but if for some chance he could make to the pro level, watch out for those trainers in golf carts, they're deadly.

Les Miles may not be all there when u hear him talk and i also agree he has made some bad calls in the past. But if Larry Coker can win a National Championship and make a couple of appearances, then Les Miles can definitely fool some people. Not to mention the outstanding job he did in choosing Crowton to replace Fisher and also the O-line coach. All Miles has to do is let his staff do their job and keep some sort of discipline(which he has) and before u know it, the championships are rolling in.lol

ryan perriloux is getting what he deserved for switching his commitment from Texas. Colt McCoy was #3 in the Heisman race before he was injured as he scored as touchdown in his first drive of the k state game. We are better off without him at UT and Colt McCoy, Jamaal Charles and Limas Sweed will lead us to another national championship sometime soon

longhorn, you're fooling yourself, if you think for one min, that Colt McCoy is a good QB. Thats a real joke, have you not watch the last 3 UT games?? He's bringing down Texas football..Look For Mac to make a change. Dude you are Blind!
