Perrilloux to travel to White House with LSU

Ryan Perrilloux, whom you will recall walked off the LSU football team a couple months back, must have some very interesting photos of Tigers head coach Les Miles filed away somewhere.

Since February, Perrilloux has been suspended indefinitely, was put back on the team by Miles, immediately skipped practice, didn't show up for practice (again), was barred from participating in spring practice and the spring game and was accused of a causing a racial stir at a local restaurant.

But, according to Miles, Perrilloux will travel with the team to meet President Bush in recognition of the Tigers national championship.

OK... WTF?! What kind of sick, twisted, S&M relationship do Perrilloux and Miles have to where the QB can do whatever/whenever/wherever, and the coach just goes along with it? When is enough, enough?

"Well, I don't know," Miles said. "The guy's doing pretty good in the classroom, busting his tail. You know, he's youthful. You tell me? He hasn’t broken a law. It's really a difficult issue. So it is my hope, like with my sons or my daughters, that if they are misbehaving that they'll get the behavior right. And that he (Perrilloux) will learn to do some things that are respectful and then allow us to promote him."

Does Perrilloux have the polaroids from Miles' Oklahoma State initiation?!?!?

We have already seen rising signs of the LSU team revolting amid Miles' kid-glove approach, but how long before Perrilloux destroys the Tigers football team?

From the LSU Daily Reveille:

Time for LSU to dump Perrilloux
...He has been given a second, third - and if he survives this most recent debacle, a sixth - chance to get right, but apparently football is not on the top of Perrilloux’s priority list. And if he doesn’t want to play football, LSU coach Les Miles should grant the selfish sensation his wish.

I couldn't agree more, but is doesn't appear that Miles is in any rush to kick Perrilloux off the team.

Is it time to stop the abuse? Is it time for LSU to call in Dr. Phil for an intervention??

Perrilloux better watch out. According to Kanye West, George Bush kills black people, especially those from Louisiana...

Keep it up, Perrilloux. Leave your team stranded on the side of the road with no leader. My Blue Tigers aren't afraid to win the West by default...

    This is an interesting topic.

RP hasn't done a single thing to warrant being kicked off the team. He hasn't actually been convicted of anything. He hasn't committed a felony or anything that would warrant an automatic pink slip.

However, he's done a lot of suspect things. I believe we're at 6 and counting. So, he may not have done any singular thing that's very serious but all these little things are adding up quickly.

I think he's been "suspended indefinitely twice now I believe. I don't think either "indefinite suspension has lead to anything.

How many players get suspended indefinitely twice and are still with the team?

    Kevin,

I just don't know what to do with the kid, anymore...What he's done to us from a PR standpoint is beyond a simple 'negative'...

    But, let me say this...

Ryan never walked off the team...Ryan did miss some practices and a team meeting. He then did what he had to do, and got murdered in conditioning and cleared some high academic hurdles (I have heard he will have the highest GPA on the team during our intercession).

He did have a verbal argument with an employee of Kona Grill. He called a Japanese bartender "Osama"...

Guys, you can say what you want, but as far as "incidents" go, that wouldn't raise an eyebrow here...It might even cause some to complain about how weak a comment that was.

Having said that, it wasn't here on Fanblogs, it was in a bar, and it was after closing time. Still, if you don't think college aged kids don't say objectionable things on a nightly basis in a bar room situation, then I guess you still believe Nick Saban won't be the next head coach at Alabama...

Miles knew that the piranah's would hit him a tad too hard if we let him practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and then let him play in the Spring...so he sat him down and announced he'd be reinstated tomorrow at 6:30pm.

But, the bottom line is that he missed some meetings, which is nothing more than since the last time he'd screwed up...

This latest "incident" is much ado about nothing...

I'll also tell you that the "U Wire" story you're linking is off of a Reveille article that has been corrected at least four times...

The first story reported the incident as taking place Sunday Night...Then it was corrected to Friday night. Then it was added that he was with three strippers from a Port Allen Gentleman's Club (How exactly did they know they were strippers? Are they wearing Nametags in Port Allen now?). Then it was corrected that they were not strippers, but male employees of the same club (How exactly did they know they were employees? Are they wearing nametags identifying themselves as employees of a Gentleman's Club?). Then it was changed that the cops were called. Then it was corrected that the cops were not called...

All of this is from an "anonymous source"...and the two managers of the restaurant have denied an incident occurred...

I doubt that no incident occurred...But, I also doubt that you can lay much credence to anything the Reveille (LSU's student newspaper) has to say after the more than half dozen corrections in four different versions of the story they've put out...

Seriously, Kevin, this last one's a tempest in a teapot...

Oh, and one more thing...Ryan's pulled this GPA, exceeded his conditioning punishment/requirements, and has done all of this while being camped in the hospital the past few months...His pregnant girlfriend gave birth two months premature and has taken up residence in the NICU with his first child...

He's been under a lot...and he's no angel, but this isn't what most are making it out to be...

It's also not because the backup QB's haven't got it...

"...(Andrew) Hatch combined to complete 13 of 17 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns, while (Jarrett) Lee connected on 7 of 13 passes for 181 yards and two scores"

Not too shabby, even if Steltz, Zenon & Co. graduated.

I "want" to agree with you TE but damn, it just gets old hearing his name come up every other week about different issues. I read the same thing about both managers at the restaraunt saying that no incident ever occured but where did the story come from then? It just makes me wonder. I mean, is someone making up the bullshit just because they know Ryan is under the microscope? I guess that's possible but, to me, not likely.

I just think that when you become this much of a distraction to your team, something has to be done. And sure, it puts Les in a bad spot...and that's putting it mildly. I'm sure he'd love nothing more than for Ryan to finally have a month where he's not involved in some kind of bullshit. Unfortunately, that's not happening.

It's just to much baggage for my taste. Let's take our lumps with Jared Lee/Andrew Hatch this year and look forward to 2009. While I don't think that's a bad thing (Lee/Hatch), it definitely changes this teams persona. We'll get a little more one dimentional with whichever guys wins the starting job but the only time we'll hear their names mentioned will be on game day.

    Just MHO.

Gotta agree with Geauxtigers on this one.

RP is becoming too much of a distraction to LSU. He might be a good QB, but how much credibility is Les Miles willing to risk for a couple of W's. It's apparent to me, as well as to the LSU nation, that RP just doesnt give a **** about LSU football. If he gets to play, great, but hes gonna do whatever the hell he wants to do in the meantime.
The thing is, whether it be this offseason or during next season, another "incident" is inevitable with this guy.
I mean this is the same guy that was quoted as saying he was ready to take the starting job from Vince Young, the year before VY won the NC.
This is the same cat that referred to a Japanese bartender as "Osama???"
Whether he straightens up or not, is this really the guy yall want to "lead" your team?

This is the one thing ive always disliked about Les Miles, and its the same thing i hated about Shula. you cant just be one of the guys, as a head coach. as a head coach you need to garner the reverence and respect of your players.
like ferris bueller said, "you cant respect somebody that kisses your ass, it just doesnt work."
well right now coach Miles is doing a WHOLE lot of ass kissing to RP, just because hes the starting QB. you can imagine that if RP were a second-string offensive lineman he wouldve been shown the door months ago.

Get a grip Les, and grow a pair.
Show RP the door, and send a message to your players. Think W.W.S.D. (What would Saban do?)

    Time to man up.

At some point RP should have made the decision that he wants to be the QB of the LSU Tigers.

The QB of the LSU Tigers puts school first and team second. (Maybe sometimes those are reversed, but... they are still 1 & 2, without question). RP has *only* put himself first.

You can excuse all of RP's grab@ss over the years by saying "kids will be kids", but not ever kid is given the opportunity to be QB1 at LSU.

You wanna be QB1? Don't use a fake ID. Don't go underage to a casino. Don't hang around with guys that get you investigated by the Feds. Don't skip classes. Don't skip meetings. Don't skip practice.

I've said it before - a lot of LSU players have made exceptional sacrifices just to get to put on the purple. RP never has. He has zero respect for Miles, zero respect for his teammates, and zero respect for LSU.

Making RP the water boy would be a smack in the face to every kid that ever gutted it out at LSU, let alone QB1.

And here we spent the whole season last year hearing about how big Miles' stones were. Pft.

Kevin, I can't say that I don't completely, absolutely agree with you...The comments are spot on, and they're what I wish someone like Anthony McFarland (who was on the sidelines yesterday) or a JaMarcus Russell could come back and bark to this kid from about a tenth of an inch away from his nose...

The kid has to be Job during the rest of his career at LSU if he wants to redeem himself...

A few 10 win seasons and an SEC crown would do the trick, too...

Let me tell you something else...they player's you're talking about are the only reason that Ryan's still on the team, because Miles wanted him gone pecan...The players last year kept him...

But, again, this most recent issue happened...Nobody said that it did not. The severity of the issue is up for discussion...and from what I've heard, the fella that was referred to as Osama is the guy that has a friend who just happened to be the guy who broke the story, and the one who embellished the story no less than 4 times creating 2 redacted and/or corrected versions...

What I'm saying is that this most recent issue isn't an issue at all...

Rohan Davey, Doug Johnson, Peter Warrick, Troy Smith, and all sorts of guys have done similar things...

Oh, and by the way, Kevin...The guys that were interviewed by the Feds that he hangs out with? They were his brother, and his cousin, respectively...Kinda hard not to hang out with those guys when you go back home for a week or two during the summer...

Again, I agree with what you're saying, but perhaps I have some Purple & Gold Oakley's on, here...

Honestly, RP needs his kicked, off the team and perhaps in other parts. This thuggery crap is the same thing that ultimately led to the demise of Free Shoe U and their bretheren down in Miami. You agree with Kevin but then try to justify this guy? Let it go, dude. No one player is bigger than the game.

We have a saying in the Boy Scouts: Lead by Example. If a team's starting QB is its leader, than the above is no example by which to lead. Not to mention, and many of us have said this before, these kids (Being a kid is no excuse.), these "star players" on high profile teams, are high profile in-of-themselves. Everyone has an eye on them, which means they're vulnerable to more than the usual scrutiny. AND, they're looked up to by many younger kids in the local community. Rightly or wrongly, this is the way of things in college football. Now, it does look as if he's willing to take responsibility for his actions and make amends; that is a big step. BUT, how many chances is a kid supposed to get? Is it worth screwing with the rest of the team? Just a thought.

Ryan's a terrible leader, and yes, I can quite honestly and confidently agree with Kevin and yet justify his behavior, because the last incident was nothing of the sort...

Because he's got a target on his back...

I guess its called being a ridiculous Homer, but Tony Joiner got charged with a felony, and then cleared in time to play LSU this past season...

Now, the body of work wasn't there with Joiner, but then again, Ryan's been issued ONE misdemeanor summons regarding the casino deal...He hasn't broken into any establishments, held anyone up, etc...

But make no mistake, every minute he spends on the roster we are mortgaging our reputation...I just feel like this latest issue is something that countless athletes in college have done, and they're never even heard about...

But, then again, I am completely okay and understand where you guys are coming from...I'm biased, and unafraid to show it...

One of the idiosyncrasies that make me me...

U of SC '78, I too am far from proud of everything I ever did. If I looked back and thought about it hard enough, for all I know I may have gotten away with a felony or two. Sadly, to some, it's not what you do well; rather, it's what you get away with.

While it's all well and good that Mr. Perrilloux has committed only minor infractions, the frequency and repeatability don't speak well for him. It's plain to me; this kid has forgotten a fundamental truth. His scholarship got him the opportunity to earn a free education. Neither the free education nor the school got him his starting position on the team. So, attending the vast majority of his classes is part of the deal. "You come play football for us (LSU); we'll give you the opportunity to earn a quality education." You can't learn if you don't attend class; believe me; I've tried. Not to mention, you can't earn respect as a leader if your work ethic is substandard. Like you, I'm all for giving kids another chance. The question remains: When is enough, enough?

Oh, TE, be thow "ye". I wouldst not have it otherwise.

#20 Maybe he will be released and negative P.R. about R.P. doesnt help the program. There are alot of other young men that probably deserve a shot at QB that will honor their responsabilities to the Team & the program. While I beleive in second chances and everyone has had their share of personal problems, even the Tiger faithful are kinda getting fed up from what I've read.
I'm just glad this guy chose LSU after verbaly committing to UT-Austin. The Horns have had their fair share of off the feild issues and behavioral problems with players.
Some people have tremendous amount of God given talent and it is a shame to see them blow the opportunity afforded to them, while others give 100% and are more appreciative of their position with the program.
I could give some examples, but unless this guy drastically changes his attitude, then he could wind up like some other guys, who had all the opportunities in the world-took it all for granted and then blew it all away.
    Adios Tomcat
P.S. TE The problems associated with this particular player, just looks like a patteren that we have all seen before. I Hope for the best for the young man, but after a while its adios, bye bye, good luck
