Even you can own a piece of the Orange Bowl
The City of Miami has hired a memorabilia company to hold a garage sale disassemble and market pieces from the Orange Bowl in an attempt to offset costs associated with tearing down the historic stadium.
Miami city commissioners approved on Thursday negotiating a contract with Mounted Memories, a division of Plantation-based Dreams Inc., to salvage seats, lockers, goalposts and other pieces of the stadium that it will then sell and share a portion of the profits with the city.
Mounted Memories is planning one last Orange Bowl hurrah in late January - a flag football game between former Dolphins players and former UM Hurricanes players.
While it might be really cool to get a souvenir to commemorate your team's Orange Bowl glory, I think the city could save a lot of money by simply hiring the Virginia Cavaliers to come back to town and blow the doors off again.

Correction Gatorhippy...Beating the Gators every year we have played since the mid 80's = priceless. We may not fill our stadium but I'll be damned if we haven't beat you consistently. =) I'll take a half empty stadium with 5 national Championships over a filled swamp and only 2 any day of the week and twice on sunday. Not to mention the talent we still attract down there, even with our crappy fan base =0)

Maybe for a Cane...
I'll still take watching the "talent" UCG has been attracting recently being haplessly slapped around by Virginia...

Watching Miami Northwestern beat Orlando Boone 41-0 in the State Championship is very priceless indeed, especially when six 'West seniors are already on their way to the U next year...
G-hippy: We'll see after this year's meeting in Gainesville. You guys'll be the favorites, no doubt, but I think a certain few freshmen might make it interesting.

It's great to be a Miami Hurricane!...By the way, we've won all three Florida Cups - and you Gators haven't beat us in 20 years. So until you do, there's not much you can say - sorry.

There are enough teams this year that owned a piece of the Orange Bowl...(Virginia, NC State, etc.) :O) Yes I can make fun of my own team.
BTW...I own something just as important as the Orange Bowl. The helmet decals from the 2001 National Title Rose Bowl team (I was employed @ Riddell in the Elyria, Ohio plant during that time). Some things are not for sale and will be passed down to my children. ;o)
Go Canes...Get some recruits!

Gee, C-Dogg, all I got to pass down to my children (Children??? Ages 26 & 27!!!) are some silver dollars and a whole bunch of Boy Scout memorabilia. Tell ya wat...I'll let you paint my Aunt Polly's fence for a couple of them decals... (Well, it was worth a try.)
Just kidding, big guy, my boys wouldn't know what to do with treasures such as what you have, let alone a genuine truss rivet or piece of artificial turf from the Orange Bowl. One attends Skidmore in Saratoga (don't think they even know what football is up there). The other attends a tiny NAIA school in Rapid City. As for me, I'm content with my WVU T-Shirts & Jacket. One day, there may be a couple of NC ticket stubs and a program in that bag for me. Till then, I'm pleased with what I have.

Zac #11 and 40 Acres #12, according to rankthatcoach.com they use secret information that they can't tell us, which probably means personal opinions of the coach and team. Many coaches, such as Meyer, Brown, and Dantonio, I think should be much higher than where they are now.

Holy crap, C-Dogg, that's awesome... Any chance you have an extra decal or two you'd be willing to part with?? :D
Right now I'm enjoying Canes basketball (they're 9-0, which is pretty great for us) and looking forward to Marcus Forston's arrival next year. Even if that guy turns out to be a bust, I'll still cheer for him - what a Cane! (Google him and see some of the comments he's made...)

Tomcat, I'm not really worried about that website's opinion as long as Mack keeps the team winning. I just thought that with the Gators/Canes argument, some people might like to see what others think of their coaches.

@#18 Cane Mutiny,
If you are serious about owning a piece of the 2001 Canes Rose Bowl team, I'll mail it to you for FREE (seriously). Why? because I've seen (through your posts) over a period of time that you are a true Canes fan.
I keep my prize possessions in my fireproof safe. The question is....how do I get it to you? Do you have a P.O.Box? I have one if you want to mail your address to me. Let me know buddy. I have only shared some with my high school buddy who has been a Canes fan nearly as long as me (20+ years).
Go Canes....Get some recruits! February signing day is coming soon! :O)
P.S. Cane Mutiny, I would be highly disappointed if you sold it. Trust me when I say.....there are only 2 PEOPLE (outside of the 01' players) that have these decals. You would be the third.

#19 Bevo Boy Check where they have Stoops & Leach, not to mention Spurrier. Those three guys are also ranked low, three of the best IMHO.
What do you think about the Alamo Bowl
Penn St vs Texas A&M ?
Joe Pa will have his boys ready, Frans gone and the Aggies have been known to blow it at times.
If they can keep it on the ground and control Time of Poss, they have a good chance of pulling it off this year.Being played at S.A. I'm sure there will be alot of Aggies in attendance.
The Holiday looks like a tough one for the Horns
The Defense & Special teams have been, purty bad at times this year, they will need to play a mistake free game to beat the Sundevils.
I'd like to see OC Davis get plum wild with the offense run a wildcat like Ark, put Kindle, Charles and Chiles back there and get crazy.
Rotate McGee and some of the others in there, heck put Beasly at WR and throw him the ball, run the triple option with Melton,Chiles and MCCoy.
Heck they have all the speed and talent in the world on offense, just wish they werent so darn predicable, heck you know you gotta keep the opponents D.C. guessing or at least try.
Hookem-Horns
They really need to develope we are going to whip your butt attitude early, because AZ St is a purty tough team, they run the ball like UCF or A&M. They are gonna get their points, the Horns are gonna half to get plum mad dog mean, in order to win the game.40 Acres of Burnt Orange

Hey Tomcat trying to get greg davis to go plum wild with our offense is like being a one-legged man in an a$$ kicking contest.
We haven't been too lucky in the Holiday Bowl the past couple of times. That Washington Holiday Bowl where Major made that huge comeback was classic though. The Washington State one wasn't.

c-dogg, if you ever do decide to let go of a couple of the decals, could you let me know? I am a huge Hurricane fan with a great UM memorabilia collection (that will get passed on down to my 2 year old son) and would love to be able to add one of the decals to it.
Just keep me in mind if for some crazy reason you do decide to sell some of them.

Kevin, this might have been an interesting post if the City hadn't announced before the UM/Virginia game that they were in contract negotiations to sell off all of the pieces of the OB. The flag football game is the only piece of this story that hasn't been widely known for the past month.

@#23 Tampa Hurricane,
ISorry I forgot about you. Read Post #20. That goes for you also. If you want to e-mail me your address, I'll send you the 01' helmet decall FREE. All I ask you to do is cover the Shipping/handling on it and mail it back to my P.O.Box. If interested, drop me an e-mail (you too Cane Mutiny). The 01' team took the Rose Bowl stickers, but they left everything else on the helmets. You and Cane mutiny would make a total of four people (outside of the 01' players) that have these decals!! Go Canes Get some recruits!

I don't know if you heard, but Arthur Brown LB(according to Scout the #1 prospect in the nation) is going to announce his decision today at 4:30 EST. According to the reports, his decision is going to be between the following five teams: Miami, Florida, USC, LSU, and North Carolina.
If he does decide to go to Miami, this would inprove our class of LB, that is already rated as the best in the nation.

By the way, the Herald is reporting that Charleston Southern is going to fill the Canes' last schedule opening for 2008. Unbelievable... we would've been better off with North Texas.
They're also saying that the three games being considered for the home opener are this one, North Carolina, or Wake Forest. Guess we won't be getting the marquee match-up we had hoped for...

C-Dogg, Cane Mutiny, Tampa Hurricane-
Scout.com says Arthur Brown is a Cane, as reported by InsideCarolina.com. Scout.com lists him as the #1 LB. Apparently, his brother's going to be a Senior next year, and is going to try to transfer to a HS in the city Arthur plays in. Apparently, he's a stud, too. So, Northwestern gets him for a year before he's in green and orange, too!
As you say, Cane Mutiny... It's great to be a Miami Hurricane!
Now, C-Dogg, about those decals....
