Zook proves he's second worst coach in Big10
Props to the Illinois Fighting Illini - you won your first Big 10 game since 2004. You had been relegated to "homecoming fodder", but yesterday's win in East Lansing proved... well, something. You walked in to MSU's homecoming game and walked out with the dripping hearts of Spartan fans everywhere.
For years, fans have been saying that Ron Zook was the worst coach in the conference, but now Century 21 agents across Michigan are heralding John L Smith's rapid nosedive to the doghouse.
Yikes. You think the coach would slap himself after a game like that. Oh, wait, he did during the post-game press conference.
How bad are things in Spartan-ville? Well, I never thought I would read this over at Enlightened Spartan:
At least we know what the L stands for: LOSER....Well, JLS, you have the character of a loser. MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS ARE LOSERS.There, I said it. Why are you losers? Because you have no sense of pride in your school or your team....
This is coaching folks. It is time to fire this guy. He won't beat scUM, he will lose to OSU, and MSU will likely lose all the rest of their games this season. Why? Because JLS is OUT OF HIS LEAGUE.
It is time to cut our losses and look for someone new while we have a step up on the competition. To pay someone $1.6 million for four years, to not beat any of the big teams in the leauge, and to have just a 21-20 record is not acceptable.
JLS sucks. Figure it out. FIRE JOHN L SMITH. What good comes out of keeping him? None. Our teams are doing worse, they are NOT improving. FIRE JOHN L SMITH.

In a delicious bit of irony, Illinois tried to plant their flag at midfield, which finally got a little fight out of the Spartans. Of course, MSU probably had it coming, since their stunt against Notre Dame prompted the Big10 and SEC to ban the practice.
You stay classy, Spartans.

Yes, because it was totally MSU's flag planting that prompted the ban. Minnesota at UM last year certainly didn't. And for some reason, nobody ever remembers ND planting the flag on MSU's field the previous year. But I forgot - everything's OK if you're the Irish golden boys.

well all of cards have to say about john l smith is that what comes aroud comes around. i have nothing bad to say about michigan state but john l deserve everything hes getting . i remeber when i was watching the gmac bowl and out the blew espn says hes leaving tommrow to go to michigan state it was like you got to be kidding and then the cards just said the hell with and quit in the middle of the game. john l is nothing but a snake in the grass who got lucky to get louisville going after ron copper alm ost sank the program. he should get on his knees and kiss tom jurich ass for taking a gamble on him . and all of sudden the honeymoon was over at louisville he jump ship. telling us cards fan how we could not put but in the seats and we did not give a dam about the football program. so i feel sorry for michigan state cause all the y got is ego pentaly going no where program who cant beat michigan and chokes when it comes to big time game . hope you find a better coach than the snake in the grass you have . by the way spartans fan s how about the 1993 libery bowl louisville 18 michigan state 7 go cards

Hey Sparty - how's a little taste of your own medicine?
I was at that ND vs. MSU game last weekend wearing my Irish gear and hearing the lip from all you drunk spartin fans in the stands. I heard "welcome to Michigan b*tches, we plant flags here! Thats what we do in East Lansing!" I laughed my butt off afer we cameback and won that game. Now that Illinois beat you, all you flag plantin MSU jokers are upset.
Grow up Sparty and leave the flag planting for the respectable programs in the land.

It think it much about nothign. If MSU beats Illinois, they don't ahve to worry about planting flags. The Spartans should have been as fired up for the game as they were trying to defend planting a flag. The (we) Spartans earned it.
Same goes for ND last year. Beat us or shut up. It's stupid. Who cares.
MSU sucks. Beat us and plant anything you want on our field.

Did you know starting running back Javon Ringer was injured and is now out for the season?
Did you know Drew Stanton was injured and may miss the Michigan game next week?

I'm a Notre Dame fan and although I hate losing to Michigan, they beat the poop out of us. They are the better team this year. Most Michigan fans I have met are good sports and have class. Michigan State? Uh, you really suck folks....not to mention absolutely classless. You kind of remind me of "wannabes." And John L.....what an idiot!
