S.C. State coach turns down Citadel
S.C. State head coach Buddy Pough turned down a chance to become head coach at The Citadel. Sources confirmed that Pough, a former assistant at South Carolina under both Brad Scott and Lou Holtz, turned the offer down. Pough confirmed that he met with Citadel Athletic Director Les Robinson.
Robinson wouldn't discuss other coaches he had talked to about the job but likely candidates Kenny Carter (Vanderbilt), Al Seagraves and Scott Wachenheim (Rice) said they had not been contacted.
John Zernhelt announced his departure for a job with the New York Jets in February.
