Minny, USC agree to home-and-home

Looks like USC will continue the beatings until the morale in the Big 10 improves....

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- So much for all those soft nonconference schedules at Minnesota. The Gophers are going big, with a home-and-home series against USC.

The school confirmed Friday it will face the University of Southern California at TCF Bank Stadium on Sept. 18, 2010, and travel to Los Angeles to face the Trojans in the Coliseum on Sept. 3, 2011.

I can't say that I'm a fan of this matchup. USC is USC and -- let's face it - Minnesota is not remotely prepared to compete at that level. The Vegas bookmakers will have fits with this one.

I understand you have to step it up to raise your profile, so congrats to Tim Brewster, but, I can honestly say that I would have preferred to see USC sign a different Big 10 school for this series. Both Michigan and Michigan State have open slots in 2010 and 2011, and both either would have been a better series than the Gophers.
