Recruits admit to rapes, non-consensual sex
Despite the national spotlight of recruting scandals at Colorado and elsewhere, a new report surveying over 5,000 recruits from 1999-2005 shows that recruting trips have not lost their bawdy reputations:
According to the survey, eight recruits admitted that they committed rape, at least 25 said they had nonconsensual sex and 27 percent consumed alcohol on their trips....
The survey reveals other condemning statistics. Eleven percent of the recruits went to bars, 2 percent went to strip clubs and 2 percent were given drugs.
Side Note: I always lumped rape & non-consensual sex into the same "she didn't say 'yes'" category - silly me.
The NCAA made recruting reform a priority in 2004 and -while the majority of these recruiting visits were conducting prior to the new mandates - the researchers contend that schools are still turning a blind eye to what goes on during official visits.
Ehlers said the survey shows that colleges must be held more accountable."The colleges need to be blamed if they're promoting it, if they're winking and looking the other way and that sort of thing," he said.
"Obviously, if someone's having nonconsensual sex, that's a pretty serious thing."

This is sad...why not admit it on a survey? It was probably done annonymously anyway...
I bet there is a lot more goes on with these trips than anyone will admit, but what is the answer - not take them? Maybe they should require that their mother come along - how many people do you know that would commit rape in front of their mother? These supposedly are adults - too bad they don't know how to act like one, isn't it? I have a hard time believing that the numbers are that high...or maybe I am just stuck in the "not at my school" syndrome?
I have a daughter in college...and this whole thing scares me. Athletes think that they are above the law, above regulation - they probably got away with doing what they wanted in high school because they needed them to play...so they figure that they have attained that "superstar" status, and can carry it over to college.
In a nut shell...my only real question is where were the parents the previous 17 or 18 years? My parents taught me to know the difference between right and wrong...and how to respect women. Why didn't theirs?

The question i have is this: What are the percentages if you break it down to Confrences... and then to go one step farther, how would anyone know with any accuracy ANYTHING given in a survey... some boast, some keep quiet... some lie, and others just fill in the "C" every time... --I dont know whats worse, a college that wants those "superstar" athletes enticing them imoraly and illegally, or the lack of character coming from a person that has the "king of the world" syndrome-- Just a guess.. SEC "wins" every category here

This is quite disturbing. Why not tell the truth on an annonymous survey. It may not be completely accurate, but it shows a problem. If anything, the results are probably skewed to the low side. There are probably many more rapes than admitted to. Also when did non-consensual sex become a separate category from rape. Non-consensual sex is rape. (Sex Ed. 101).

maybe the nonconsensual sex is the guy saying the girl didnt ask him... lol jk tryin to make a joke when i shouldnt, but seriously some of the standards colorado has adapted are good for the recruits (such as they have an 8pm curfew and they can only stay one night... i am not certain on these standards it may be that the recruit comes and visits and leaves the same day been a while since i read into it)i also gurantee you that its not just recruits

There is no difference between non-consensual sex and rape: if someone does not consent to sex, they are being raped, period. As a parent, I want it made clear to all administrators, instructors, coaches, and players/students: "no means no."
If this behavior is truly prevalent, then it is time the presidents stepped in and reigned in the recruiting process. And, sooner rather than later.

What?! Someone correct me if Im wrong here...
First off, whats the difference between "non-conesensual sex" and "rape" ???
And that is 33 (8+25) admitted rapes out of how many prospective recruits, 5000? Im no math-wiz but that less than 1 percent (something like 0.0067)! How does that compare to the general public (other non-football-recruits of that age, etc)?
And ONLY 2 PERCENT went to strip clubs and "did drugs" ??? ONLY 2 Pecent @!?! Im surprised its so Low!And does anyone know what the hell is this dude, "The Spirt of Bill Oliver", is yapping about ??? How is this goofy "Study" either Left-Wing or Right-Wing ???

My next question is who admits to something like that freely on a survey?
