Last week there were some really obnoxious Georgia Tech posters who were promising that Calvin Johnson would lead their team to a blowout victory over "Clempsun" (their spelling). Following GT's embarassing loss last night, in which he had zero catches and one run for a 4 yard loss, Calvin Johnson declined to comment on the game. Bet we won't hear any comments this week from those posters, either. Their mouths are too full from eating "crow".

TrojanHorse,
How is USC punished for wins? Computers have USC 1st and Coaches have them 2nd...BCS #2. Are you that ridiculous to demand a #1 ranking, especially since USC doesn't play anyone truly legit until the last 4 weeks of the season? At least Ohio State has play two Top 15 teams on the road and dominated both.I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. You're likely to get that cocky smerk knocked through the back of your swollen head. You might want to focus on the PAC 10 championship.
As for teams who pull out last minute victories, THAT'S WHAT GOOD TEAMS DO!! Not everyone gets to play Marshall or E. Washington each week to give their team a 40+ point boost. If I recall, USC did much the same last year. Were they penalized? Not even a little bit. They were revered for it...'cause that's what good teams do.
Also, if Brady Quinn's rally yesterday to win the game, with the backdrop of the comebackers versus a solid GaTech team and Sparty, doesn't spell H-E-I-S-M-A-N...nothing does. Troy Smith has looked average in every game this season (compare their stats) and has one decent pass against a Penn State team that Brady picked apart like a bagel.
See ya' after Thanksgiving, Trojans.

ND sucks....I figured the media would be slurping Quinn, Weis, and ND for a lucking last second win. Notre Dame was outclassed by a middle of the Road Pac-10 team (UCLA). They were dominated. But I guess you are blinded by your own insecurities. You should see someone about that buddy. Just in case you forgot UCLA is a basketball school...Hope that brings you back to reality
So Cal, Here we go again. How is Louisville ahead of WVU in your opinion....We whipped Syracuse...Louisville struggle against them and was still close at the end....Many Syracuse players were quoted as saying that WVU will win versus the Ville. Saying that nobody can stop WVU's offense. Louisville's D is a joke.
3 Big East teams in the Top 14 of the BCS.
4. West Virginia
8. Louisville
14. RutgersLet's see 3 in top 14 of BCS is more than
Big 10
ACC
Pac 10
Big 12
SEC has 4 of 12 in top 14 or 33% of leagueBig East has 3 of 8 in top 14 which is 35% of the League.
I'm not saying that the Big East is the best...because obviously they are not the best conference...but they are a BCS conference to be respected and accepted. Big East is a small conference but solid conference that can and will compete with everyone. Face the Facts.

i would like to second hm tigers post 2, and also comment that an idiot poster - jan the yellow jacket logan... he posted that not only would G tech kill clemson, but Calvin would score multiple Tds, and he also said we would be lucky to get 200 people at gameday. well logan, we had over 10,000 people at gameday, and we reached 112 dB at the gameday show, which is top 10 for loudest STADIUMS DURING GAMES in college football. and this was only at gameday. i wonder where logan is now i would love to hear what he had to say.

Irish JT,
You said: "Also, if Brady Quinn's rally yesterday to win the game, with the backdrop of the comebackers versus a solid GaTech team and Sparty, doesn't spell H-E-I-S-M-A-N...nothing does. Troy Smith has looked average in every game this season (compare their stats) and has one decent pass against a Penn State team that Brady picked apart like a bagel."To point out a few flaws in your logic:
1) The fact that Brady Quinn has had to rally his team from behind in 3 different games against weaker opponents (if you're counting GA Tech as a "solid" win, then Clemson definitely deserves to be ranked higher than ND) could also be viewed as an argument against his Heisman candidacy. Heisman trophy caliber quarterbacks usually have their teams in the lead and don't have to engineer miraculous comebacks.2) Your comments about Troy Smith suggest that you've got your head "in the sand" (or worse).
Not only has he made numerous ESPN highlight reels with his big plays, but the people who actually vote for the Heisman admit that he's far and away the leading candidate for the award. But then, I guess you're a much better judge of talent than they are.
Troy's stats will never become gaudy because Jim Tressel doesn't run up the score or leave his starters in all game (because they've put the game away early). Brady, on the other hand, has to play the whole game because ND has to come from behind. That pads his stats considerably.3) You're quick to compare Brady/Troy's performances against Penn State because Brady appears to come out ahead in that comparison. You fail to mention that Troy & Co. toally embarassed Michigan State while ND barely squeaked out a "W" because Sparty self-destructed in the 4th quarter--a credit to ND's defense perhaps, but not Brady Quinn. You also fail to mention how the two quarterbacks fared when they played "head to head" in the Fiesta Bowl (I believe that's when CBS Sportsline nominated Troy Smith as the frontrunner for this year's Heisman). And you certainly neglected to mention Brady's performance against Michigan...if Troy Smith plays as awful as Brady did against Michigan, then he doesn't deserve the Heisman, either.

I know this isn't exactly the subject of this thread,BUT I took IrishJT's advice and compared Troy and Brady's stats.
Troy Smith
Passing:1,715 yds/21 TD
Rushing:126 Yds/0 TD
2INT/67.9 CMP%
W/L: 8/0Brady Quin
Passing:1,938 YDS/18 TD
Rushing:-35 YDS/1 TD
4INT/62.9 CMP%
W/L: 6/1So, although Brady has played closer games and thus played more into the fourth quarter it hasn't managed to pad his stats all that much. In Ohio we do love Brady Quinn and wish him a great pro career[he is a local boy]. I dont't think your invitation to compare their stats worked in your favor.

Buckeye Fans,
Have I missed something? Has Troy Smith been sitting in the second half to let the JV play? Hmmm. I seem to remember his 4th quarter comeback/highlights against Penn State (Quinn sat that game with 8mins to go). I saw Smith play in the 4th quarter against a very weak IOWA team when OSU had a commanding lead. He was playing in the 4th quarter against NIU and Cincy. What the hell are you people talking about?
Troy Smith has one highlight, against Penn St, that they continually loop. The rest are 3 yd passes to Ginn or Gonzalez, and they YAC the rest. When has OSU driven the length of the field with Smith's arm??? They haven't. The Irish have played tougher teams, on whole, than Ohio State. We have the soft part of our schedule in the next 4 weeks. Quinn will have 40 TDs by the end of the season.
And to say that I'm quick to compare Penn State with Troy and Brady, but not Michigan St, is ridiculous. Quinn's stats versus Sparty were unbelievable. Smith's were average...again. Quinn did it all in a monsoon. Smith did it at 2:00 in 60 degree FOOTBALL weather. Sure, OSU beat the shite out of Sparty and the Irish had to rally, but Quinn, against common opponents with Smith, has looked better. If you want to give the Heisman based on last year's Fiesta Bowl, now I know you've wondered off of the reservation. The only reason Smith gets mention this year is BECAUSE of that game. Without it, he's another mediocre quarterback. That has already been factored in and but for that game, Smith would not be in the Top 3.

I can't believe IrishJT made a post without a reference to WVU's schedule.
I think he is coming to his senses and realizes WVU would hang 40 on Notre Dame and there wouldn't be a comeback. I do think that Notre Dame is good enough to finish 5th in the Big East.

That's the polls for you. This is why I hate preseason polls. I don't think there should be a poll until the 5th week, hardly anyone plays the first week. That would be about a third of the season, and teams wouldn't be judged by entirely by what people speculate. My poll isn't any more accurate than anyone else's.

Hey:
How bout them Hokies? Huh? Virginia Tech 24 and Clemson 7. Just stuffed em' too! The defense was incredible. Looks like Virginia Tech takes a big step up this week. Also, sad to say, makes Notre Dame look even worse than they are. Wonder what Charlie Weis is gonna have to say if Virginia Tech jumps Notre Dame in the polls?

Anyone from the SEC:
Please explain how it is that Georgia will be a +1 point favorite over Florida in Gatorville. Hasn't Florida beat this team something like 14 of the last 16 anyway? Isn't Georgia kinda down while Florida is ranked 5th or 6th in the nation? How in the world can Georgia be the favorite? Or, are all of the lines that I was looking at wrong? I'll bet the farm and even throw in the wife and kids that Florida wins that game this weekend.

Tommie T. Now one would want to take on 10 kids and your wife. That much I know for sure. I am as shocked as you are about that. Are you sure they are the favorite? I am going to have to go and check that out. GO DAWGS!!! Get this, my wife wants me to go with her and the kids to a Halloween party at 4 PM with the game on! I swear it would be a "nightmare" for everyone at that party if I missed the game for it.

Tommie T, Just checked it out and the line is Fla -14. That is more like what I thought. People always say, just keep it close until the 2nd half and you have a chance. I beg to differ in this one. The DAWGS have looked horrible in the 2nd half. Hopefully, we show up and give the DAWG fans something to bark about. We have been talking a lot of Shi# the last few years and it is hard to eat all this crow. GO DAWGS!!!

Thanx! I guess that Yahoo Odds thing under the NCAA Football has that game all wrong. I figured that could not possibly be right - unless all of the Georgia money was swingin' it to one side. But, still I didn't think that Georgia could be the favorite at all. Fourteen points sounds like a good start.
As far as the wife and kids goes - I was hopin' somebody might take me up and Georgia would pull the stunner. I'll give everyone a 2nd shot at this offer though, now that Florida is the +14 favorite, I'll take Georgia and the points.Tommie T

haha you should read the comments in the newspaper about how the UF defensive seniors can hardly contain themselves thinking of what they are gonna do on the field against freshman matt stafford. and then the quote about stafford "not really understanding the whole Florida - GA thing." This kid is gonna be in for a surprise. keep an eye out for all the times he gets sacked tomorrow

I gotta say that FLA did not impress me that much. We beat ourselves, as usual. I was really pleased with our defense for the most part today. It is just one of those years where I have to sit back and see what happens. I hate the Gators though. It would have been sweet to see that freshman win. Today proved that we can still win out if we quit making the stupid mistakes. No turnovers by the DAWGS for the rest of the season and we tuck our tails into a mid level bowl at 9-3. Continue the turnovers and we might not even make a bowl. Let's go DAWGS!!!!

I am used to it. We lose to you Gators every year. I still say it was better to lose to coach Spurrier. At least he knew how to score some points on somebody. That stupid offense that Meyer is running can't do it. He better be glad that he has a good defense or he would have lost a lot more this year. I guess next year is the year for the Gator offense. But you are right, a loss is a loss, but again, I can't see how you are ranked as highly as you are if you barely hold off our team this year. GO DAWGS!!
