GayturdMatt, welcome to the Capital One bowl. Arkansas will get the Sugar. irsishjt, notre dame doesn't deserve a BCS Bid now either with "2" losses. Anyone can see that it really wasn't all our teams fault.... (we did fumble a-lot), but Rich Rodriguez himself pretty much took us out of the game early on with his retarded decisions he made. It simply killed all our momentum. Charlie Weis or Weiss whichever it is?.... is a great coach however, and even with his top of the tier coaching abilities was unable to even keep it close with SO CAL. Complete and total domination there all game, not to mention the Michigan game also. As for us horrible coaching decisions and key turnovers is why we have 2 losses, and that's a fact!

To piggy back off of my previous post: Now if your a 2 loss team that "Actually" plays in a Conference....... then you should get a BCS Bid if your the Conference Champ. Does anyone besides irishjt disagree with that?

Sugar Bowl!! In your dreams! Only high-ranked teams get to play in BCS games. Running up numbers against under .500 chumps will never make up for getting one's butts handed to them on a plate by Michigan and USC. ONE win against a ranked team (that is no longer ranked) all season. Yeah, that'll earn you a BCS game. Arkansas dropped only three spots after their loss to LSU, because they STAYED IN THE GAME. Scheduling tough opponents doesn't make you a good team. Beating them does. Or at least staying within less than 20 points is helpful, also.

Unfortunately, the BCS is that far from being a good system. There are ten major football conferences and ten slots in the BCS games. If C-USA, the MAC, MWC and WAC were added to the mix, conference championships might actually mean something. This would also force the undisputed spoiled children of ND to have to join a conference. They don't have to deal with playing the same rivals year after year, playing home and home series, etc. They simply win the Commanders in Chief Trophy, lose to the only two real teams on their schedule and whine.
If you don't win your conference - you don't go to the BCS, pretty simple. Now all of the supporters of the "big six" will cry foul, but who in that powerhouse Big Least would want to play Boise State or BYU right now? My guess is that either of these teams would blow away Southern Florida (way to go WVU). Let's make conference championships mean something again.
No one can whine about being left out (except ND who is so arrogant they just don't want to share anything with anyone). Out of conference schedules would be improved because an OOC loss wouldn't destroy a season and teams could start having those great intersectional games again instead of playing a Wisconsin OOC schedule just to rack up wins.
Think about it, then disregard - anything that makes sense will not be considered by the men in funny looking, although colorful, suits.
My last shot - if the Big Least is invited, you can't leave out any of the other conferences because they may be the worst of them all.

Only 2 teams from a Conference can get BCS invites. Thus Wisconsin has already accepted the Capital One Bowl vs a SEC Team (TBD).
Question: Who does everyone think will be Wisconsin's opponent? Can Florida survive a loss vs Arkansas? Or would a Florida loss open the door for LSU?
We know if Arkansas loses, then they're out. If so, it'll be Florida (Sugar) and LSU.

IrishJT,
You lose all credibility when you complain about your teams ranking. They have played only two currently ranked teams and lost both games by 20+ points. A true Notre Dame fan would be ashamed of this years team, not complaining they are under rated and deserving of a BCS game. If I were you, I would just be praying for a cushy bowl match up. Your looking at back to back 3 loss seasons with no wins vs. the final top 25. ND is much better than they had been pre cheeseburger charlie but still not a top 10 program.

IrishJT,
The reason you dropped 6 spots is because the only two good teams on your schedule destroyed you. How can you be deserving of a good ranking if you can't beat any good teams? And please don't fire back and tell me that Michigan State, Penn State, or UCLA is good? C'mon...if they are good teams, then obviously you deserve to be paired up with Ohio State, right?

IrishJT-U want to talk about what teams at what spot, take a look at Wisconsin?!?!?!!??! Absolutly NO Respect! Thats to any ND fan that wants to talk about where their team is at! (Mich. St. ring any bells?) Then you have an undefeated Boise St. at the 9-10 spot???? Its just tryn to figure who MIGHT beat who! Before U get to excited see what the BCS poll comes up with! But u do have a pretty good point, looking at just W&L!

A West VU fan critical of Rich Rodriguez !?!?????
I admit, I didnt watch much of that game vs So Flo, but its tough to believe it was Coaching that lost WestVU a game...Notre Dame should not have taken a spot in a BCS Bowl over OREGON last season... its probably a make-up-call by the moron Poll-Voters. The next 4 highest Rated teams that arent auto-qualifiers "should" get a those BCS spots, regardless of their Conference affiliation, or lack of. Notre Dame just simply may not be one of those 'next 4' (Michigan is the only 'lock' at-large team)

So Cal, watch the game and then you decide.... He faked a field go on the 1st drive ended up fumbling. (Totally killed momentum!!!) Then there is the oh famous "I'll hand it off to Slaton on every first down play on every series of the game". Don't get me wrong I know you have to hand it off to our playmaker.......but every team knows that play is coming almost..... "almost" every single 1st down. When you do that.... you are basically giving your offense 2 downs to get a 1st down. (I've already admitted that our "players" did fumble in "key" moments of the game So Cal)...... but we still were hanging around. Now, there's the last drive of the game for us where instead of just trying to nickel and dime them down the field...... we throw a bomb instead. I like our passing game, but in that situation you should be playing small ball.... (we still had 3 time outs). Overall, I just think that Rich Rodriguez made crucial mistakes when the game mattered the most.

Wow, the latest BCS Rankings have it all coming down to a VERY tight and possibly controversial finish.
USC is not a lock unless they handily beat UCLA (who get absolutely no respect from anyone). The Votes are split between Fla and Michigan, where an Arkansas win over Fla will make things even tighter between USC and Michigan (from looking at the AP votes). Amazingly, the computers say Michigan. The gap isn't as wide as I expected after USC creamed ND.
What if Florida wins? Strangely, it will help USC if their game with UCLA is tight. Looks like the Fla and Michigan split holds both off from gaing ground for No. 2.
Of course USC can just take care of business and end this all.... (or lose along with Florida and set up the rematch we all want (right)).
Too bad there is a "National title" at stake. As a fan, I want to see OSU and USC play, along with Michigan vs Florida or LSU. Lastly, (should ND get in), I'd love to see them play Boise State.

First, Notre Dame gets spanked at home against Mich. then they're destroyed in the coliseum against USC. Now, we're all gonna have to see them get crushed in a BCS bowl against another quality team?
Please don't whine about Notre Dame's rotten luck when Louisville (#6 BCS ranking) has to hope WVU can beat Rutgers just so they can make it to the Orange Bowl.

Michigan vs LSU would be a great game, because I don't see either team winning by more than 7.
And for USC,If OSU goes with their five wide set it will be all OSU,USC will not be able to touch OSU offense and OSU D will hold USC to 28 or less.Trojans have no chance of beating Ohio State! Booty looked terrible for half of the ND game, and will look worse against OSU!

Hey IrishJT, at least we in the SEC win our way in instead of wooing the BCS and getting them to agree that as long as the Irish have a 9 win season that they are guarranteed a BCS bowl appearance. What up with that weak A$$ schedule you girls play.

Hey Tiger Todd...how many 1 loss teams has Florida beaten this year? Answer: ZERO. How many two loss teams has Florida beaten this year? Answer: ONE (LSU).
Let's not act like Florida has won their way to anything. They have been handed their ass in more than one game, but walked away with a W nonetheless (i.e. Vandy & South Carolina). Also, playing DI-AA teams, like Western Carolina, and having the perennial Sun Belt doormats at your beckon, does not speak well for Florida or the SEC. At least Arkansas, the only team to schedule a top 10 OOC opponent, had the balls to put USC on their schedule...knowing it was a likely loss. I love it when SEC fans speak of the rigors of their schedule. Again, and since you're knew to the blog, it has probably been lost on you that Notre Dame has played 8 opponents this year who have been ranked. Their first 5 opponents were ranked when ND played them...Ga Tech, Michigan and Penn State remain currently ranked. Notre Dame has lost three games in 2006...to the current #1, #2 and #3 teams. No SEC team comes close to that. If you were wondering, Florida has 5 (Tenn, Ga, Aub, LSU & FSU) and Arkansas has 4 (USC, Aub, LSU & Tenn).
We'll settle this thing is the Sugar Bowl.

IrishJT, If you do make it to the Sugar Bowl, it will just add a 3rd loss to ND by a ranked team this year. Which will further prove that they were not cut out to be a BCS team this year. You know it, I know it, we all know it. If you want to know about tough schedules just take a look at LSU, FL, and AR, who are all worthy of BCS bowl games. Say bye bye Quinn, and bye bye top 25 nxt year. "R.I.P. Notre Dame"

IrishJT,
Penn State is not ranked in the top 25 in any poll. Your only win vs. a ranked team is Ga Tech and they just lost to the #7 team in the SEC. 1-2 vs. the top 25 with both losses being by 20+ points. Nobody is impressed in the least bit. Enjoy a nice 7-5 season next year without Quinn. Good luck with your bowl game.

PopsMich, you seem to have things twisted a bit...
Im a USC fan and Im sure not taking UCLA lightly (Score: USC 29-24, last time facing UCLA in the Rose Bowl)... If Arkansas beats Florida, that only IMPROVES USC's SOS Rating that much more (USC beat Arkansas, remember?). And those 'split votes' that Florida would relinquish with a Loss, wouldNT all go to Michigan, USC would pick-up some of those too... the Consensus Ratings, er, the Computers "say" USC; rated higher than Michigan at this point, and will only Increase if, if, If they add a Win over #30-Rated UCLA!

The Consensus BCS Bottom 10:
1. Duke (0-12) 49.87
2. North Carolina (3-9) 62.11
3. Illinois (2-10) 62.51
4. Stanford (1-10) 62.54
5. Colorado (2-10) 63.08
6. Iowa State (4-8) 63.18
7. N. Carolina St. (3-9) 65.94
8. Baylor (4-8) 66.05
9. Mississippi State (3-9) 66.20
10. Mississippi (4-8) 67.44Ohio State rating is 100.65 points. This means that OSU should kill Duke by 50.78 points. Can we get a big hand for these pillars of ineptness? There were many other deserving teams, that I could not get on this list, but I mainly kept it to BCS Conference teams only. The clear cut winner is Duke - by a runaway margin. I propose another BCS Championship game that would pit Duke vs North Carolina for the most inept team in America. If this cannot happen because they exist within the same conference, then the Big 10 will have it's moment in the sun, while being represented by Illinois. This should help to make up for Michigan's snubbing in the "other BCS Bowl Championship".
Greatest conferences by number of "losers":
1. ACC (3 teams)
2. Big 12 (3 teams)
3. SEC (2 teams)
4. Big 10 (1 team)
5. PAC 10 (1 team)
6. BEast (0 teams)The ACC runs away as having the three most inept teams in America. BTW, Virginia almost cracked this list by coming in at #12. Too bad they could not get them up higher. It might have been total domination by the ACC.
Anyway, hat's off to America's most sorriest programs for 2006.

hi everyone, i just looked at several bowl projection blogs and the irish must finished in the top 8 of the bcs to received a bcs bowl bid and they are no 10. yet most folks such as fox, espn, sports ill, cbs, msnbc all have them projected for the sugar. ND irish are the most over hype football team in america. what bothers me,if w va gets beat by rutgers, the irish will go to a bcs game and my cards head to el paso to the sun bowl with 1 loss and played better teams then the irish. the 2 quality teams they played, wipe them as if they where toilet paper on shit. i can see my cards getting raped, reamed and abused by the system. the ville has no great football history and these pundits used that on my cards. rutgers gets more love and w va does as well. the new kids on the block i guess while the royal court gets all the underserved glory. i know life stinks. perhaps w va wins over rutgers,my cards will play a lousy acc team in the orange on most projections. i rather play lsu in the sugar if win or not. yes, send me tissue. send me your projections as well. usc vs ohio st in the champ game. cornhuskers vs bosie st in the festia, lsu vs louisville in the sugar. arkansas vs wake forest in the orange and the sonners vs the ND in the cotton. GO CARDS!!!! GO CARDS!!! GO CARDS!!!! send me some feedbak and picks. rose fla vs mich. I NEARLY FORGOT ABOUT THE ROSE BOWL.

IrishJT,
One thing to add. ND could drop their FB program and would remain in the top 25 for 2 to 3 years before anyone realized they were gone. This however would be an oversight by loyal ND fans such as yourself, Joe Theisman, Brent Musberger, and others who would just continue to give away their votes because of the Fighting Irish tradition. Oh by the way I feel the same way about Michigan, so don't get your Irish feelings hurt over this.

Actually LSU is awesome and Michigan vs LSU would be way better than ND or anyone else!

Nothing against Michigan or the Big 10. Great Program and great conference. I just admire the way that the loyalty of the sportswriters, sports journalists and the whole football nation supports them when they have a bad day, month, or season. T-Mac:
Here's the picks that you have so been eagerly awaiting. Usually, I would only pick games where two Top 40 teams were going head-to-head, but this week I'm gonna include Army/Navy and Conn/Louisville. Last week was 8-5 (after being surprised by Texas A&M, Miami, LSU, South Carolina and Arizona State), bringing the three week total to 23-13. Proves that late in the year, it's very difficult to predict winners, let alone beat the spread.
Connecticut 13
Louisville 40Louisville pounds this team in order to try and cement a BCS bid and a possible Championship argument should USC stumble.
Army 14
Navy 34My boyz get their butts kicked in (not again)! Oh well, my stepdad is a sailor - so it's not too upsetting.
Oregon State 26
Hawaii 34Doesn't look like these guys can be stopped right now. They are finally getting noticed. Arizona State is in trouble.
Wake Forest 21
Georgia Tech 20Wake Forest pulls off the "improbable season". Georgia Tech is overrated and Ball will come apart.
Rutgers 20
West Virginia 28Slaton doesn't fumble in this one. Rutgers had one other chance to put it away and didn't. They may choke under this pressure. West Virginia has nothing to lose and everything to gain. They should be loose.
Nebraska 20
Oklahoma 26The "Okies" are peaking and Nebraska has fallen flat lately. Look for Oklahoma to dominate on defense.
Arkansas 22
Florida 21Over the last eight weeks - I might claim that Arkansas would beat this team by eight. Everything being balanced - it's Arkansas in a squeeker. Arkansas has played both USC and LSU, both rated in the Top 5, while Florida hasn't had that kinda opportunity. Arkansas showed definate improvement in the game with LSU. This one should be much easier for them. Urban Meyer has sent the message to his team, "We whine with our mouths, for something we have not earned yet, and begin to make excuses for why we failed - all the while blaming it on others". This attitude will infect his team. Houston Nutt has quitely went about his business and will have his team ready to "earn their place at the table". Look for Arkansas to play in the Sugar Bowl this year.
USC 28
UCLA 13This beating may become more severe. Look for USC to remove all doubt from anybody's minds - including all recruits that may be straddling the fence. This is the "prototypical" USC recruiting tool in Los Angeles. The question is: "Do you want to suffer that for four years". This will not be pretty. Try to keep your young viewers away from the TV set while this is taking place.

One last thought on the Florida/Arkansas showdown. Not one word has come forth from the USC football program about a National Championship game other than Pete Carroll said, "We'll do our talkin' on the field. The voters can decide the rest". Meanwhile, Urban Meyer has been spewin' forth for a few weeks about, "The voters are gonna rip us off. We deserve to play for the National Championship". Clearly, the Sugar Bowl is not "good enough" for the Florida Gators. That message has been sent to his team by the coach. I think that the Sugar Bowl is gonna be just fine by the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas will be in "hog heaven" with that game. Florida has already viewed it as a disappointment. Arkansas wins this game in convincing fashion. And, Florida ends up in the "Toilet Bowl". This is why Uran Meyer is still basically a rookie. His 2nd year "in the Big Leagues" and he's still making mistakes like a rookie.
