that nebraska walkthru was weak.SC and VT were pretty solid. The LSU Band pregame is by far the most electrifying thing in collegefootball.

VT's get you pumped but I am fan of a more traditional entrances like many of the Big 10...Enter Sandman by Metallica seems kind of like a High School entrance...but Its still pretty solid.

My top list of entraces: now i am biased:
    1) Clemson- the history of the hill and howards rock, it gives me chills every time.

    2) south carolina- there is nothing like it as a clemson fan it gives me chills, bu tits not as old a tradition of the hill, so thats why its 2 on my list, but it gets the crowd in the game

    3) nebraska- the tunnel walk isnt thrilling by any means, but for a husker it is and it has a long standing tradition

4)miami- the smoke just screams intimidation, thats obvious, now you say everybody uses smoke, but not like miami, they made it big and they made it intimidating

    5) michigan- just a classic entrance "victors" plays loud and the 100,000 plus fans scream and they beat the banner gret entrance

    6) UT- rocky top booms and the band forms the T in the endzone and the vols run out to one of the loudest places on earth anygiven saturday, its a sight to behold

    7) va-tech- that crowd gets crazy, metallica plays and its burn couches and block punts in blacksburgh, still a young tradition but a good one none the less.

The atmosphere at Carolina during the entrance is absolutely amazing. 2001 sends chills up and down your spine. And now that Spurrier's finally assembling a competitive team it's going to get even better.
    Go Cocks!

Clemson has the best entrance. To my knowledge, it is the only one with an actual TITLE: "The most exciting 25 seconds in college football".

And no making stuff up...Howard's rock is what Clemson has. Other schools lay claim to the best fight songs, stadiums, hotties, etc...

Clemson has the hill and the best entrance...don't try it. Just don't :)

South Carolina has a good tradition down there as well with '2001', and Miami's entrance through the smoke dates back 40 years or so. Running through the 'T' in Knoxville is a big moment on saturdays for Tennessee as well.

Clemson wins this one, though... :)

Friend of mine always told the story of the last time Bear Bryant brought his team to Knoxville. I think it was 1982 and 90,000 plus fans erupted like crazy when the Vols took the field and ran through the "T". Right after this, Alabama players ran onto the field and the whole place turned into a chorus of "Boos!". Then, without being cued, the UT faithful spotted the famous "Houndstooth" hat worn by 'The Bear', and immediately the entire stadium erupted even louder than before. It was a great tribute and showed how revered the man was by all, even his rivals.

FSU has a good entrance. Some schools have traditon with their entrance and some schools have develped exciting entrances. I think you are going to be hard pressed to find one school that has both of these outside of Clemson.
For years the cannon fires, the players touch the rock and run down the hill with the fans on either side. It is truly the best entrance in college football.

Hey all you Clemson Fans. Nothing and I mean nothing is more intimidating than Lane Stadium at night with 66,000 fans screaming and getting down right crazy to Metallica as the best team in the ACC takes the field. Take your boring run down the hill to Shady Acres!!! This is college football not Cricket.

By the way lets talk intimidation. Was Clemson Intimidated in Blacksburg back in October, or were we the BEST team on the field that night??? If I recall you all were ranked 10 in the country and we stomped you all by what 20 points or so. Admit it Clemson fans Vahh Tech has the most electrifying entrance in college football. Most of the ESPN Gameday cast seem to think so!!!

clemson1981, is a little bitter from last falls stomping the tigers took in lane. That said there haven't been any couches burnt in Blacksburg unless they were Eer's fan couches that they brought with them.

I would enjoy the true enterences...with no sound effects(music over the clip). There is one from an ABC broadcast there the annoucers just stop talking and Lane is just rock'n.

Va. Tech fans.........give me a break... Miami, South Carolina, Georgia, FSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas, Ohio State and many many others have BETTER entrances than Lane Stadium. Now if you want to make an arguement that Lane Stadium is a more difficulet place to play than some of the above or Clemson I will oblige you. But if you think turning on the PA system and playing a heavy metal rock song is a great entrance then you also think Va. Tech will when the ACC next year.
Entrance..... not team, not fans, not coach, not record, not stadium.....stay focussed on the issue.

I've been the Memorial Stadium and The Swamp many times and while Clemson does get loud, there is no where louder than The Swamp it was completely deafening this year. I coudldn't even hear my headset on full volume. I felt like my ears were going to explode.

i suppose where one is sitting has a lot to do with what the noise sounds like in the stands. But on the field at Clemson it is loud. I have not been on the field at the other venues....Close in Athens and at Chestnut Hill
This may be true of all big time stadiums but when i was on the field at Clemson i could not hear myself. i was working with the Athletic Department and had to be on the field. The best way i can desribe it is a quiet loud. it is not like a concert or airplane... hard to explain. perhaps the configuration of the each stadium holds sound differently.

  30. Charleston Gamecock said:

    posted on January 16, 2007 8:42 PM — 4.88.58.152 — linkabuse?

Hey, enough about the loudness of the stadiums. We're talking intro here, intro. I'm sure EVERY stadium gets pretty loud during the flow of the game. That has a lot to do with the stadium design along with the fans. 80,000 fans in a bowl/closed ended stadium can get extremely loud.
Kevin, you may want to start a thread with the official results of the decibal levels of the loudest college stadiums.

clemson gets louder then a boeing taking off and lets not forget it is a fact it is the loudest stadium in the nation 126 DEC, but thats enough on that Charleston Gamecock is right this is the entrance thread not the loudest stadium thread, and maybe kev should open a loudest thread.

Before the he rides around the field pumping the flamming spear above his head, than when he spikes it - talk about getting a crowd thundering loud. The entire stadium shakes under your feet. Anyone have a video of it?

Dont see how Tigers running down a hill is exciting at all, ive seen it live and yeh crowd gets fairly loud but not real exciting. Florida may be the loudest but not most exciting . Lots of these you have to see to really know. VT fairly exciting. UT is good and LSU is good. I got to give SC has the best tho. To only have 85k they sound like they have a 100k when 2001 starts and the Spurrier saying "Its time for Carolina Football" they win hands down.

    Clemson05:
i seem to find myslef explaining this to a ton of tigers all the time. its not that we glorify it, its the tradition, its the thrill, and its the focus of clemson football "THE ROCK AND THE HILL" we had this WAYYY before carolina had 2001, we had this wayyy before va-techs enter sandman, not in anyway am i putting those down but they are young so thats why. you go to any tiger in death valley and ask them what do you think of when people say tiger football and heres what they say "the rock the hill, the fridge, perry tuttle, 1981 overalls, death valley, and orange" the rock is the staple of clemson football, and if your a clemson fan and your dont get chills when they come on those buses and rub that rock and that cannon fires and they run down the hill, get something checked out. but in the end HOWARDS ROCK IS CLEMSON FOOTBALL, so and its not for luck its to give 110% of whatever the hell you got inside, and if not, dont touch that rock!!! go to an orange and white gmae they let your touch it and then youll appreciate it even more.

I was at Lane Stadium for the Clemson game this year and I am sorry but what is the big deal. It wasn't loud, but even if it had been, its just some guys running on the field.

We did that in high school ball. Clemson busses the team around the field. The noise starts to build as the crowd sees the busses coming. The band starts toward the hill. The crowd is now insane. So much louder than any other entrnace I've seen. The cannon fires, the players rub the rock, the crowd is jumping, balloos by the thousands and the run down the hill.

We have an entrance at field level we could use like EVERY other team in the country but we don't. Do you know why? Cause we run down the friggin hill.

We are not debating who the best team is, only who has the best entrance. So if you haven't been to Clemson to see the real deal(and TV des not do it justice) STFU.

  42. Clemson07 said:

Although we got beat down in Blacksburg back in October, I really wasn't all that impressed with their entrance. Multiple high school basketball teams that we played against back in the day ran out to the same tune. It might get you excited but hell, any loud music at that point would get passionate fans excited. Not original at all.

Clemson05, if you don't understand the Rock and its significance then you haven't been a Clemson fan for very long.

You guys need to attend an Alabama football game before you die. I watched the first two videos, and I'm assuming you like them only because of the music. I guess that's because there is no tradition at either of these schools. There's no question the Bama intro video is by far the best in the land. Roll Tide! Go SEC!

    Tide Pride,
Tradition is great, but you know what is even better, rooting for a program and watching it build from a mediocre team at best, to a consistent, competitive one that is knocking on the door of elite status, building tradition along the way.

Sure, growing up a fan of a team that is a winner is nice, but what have you done lately? From 2000-2005, VT has a .750 winnign percent, Alabama? 0.542. 1995-2005 VT - 0.765, Bama - 0.591 Oddly enough, graduation statistics that I can find are pretty similar, only with more of a disparity.

Funny how this turned into a smack talk session about teams instead of entrances. I really like USC entrance and the all black effect and I'll give Clemson their props because of great fans. All I have to say is this, when ESPN wants to pick a game for Thursday night to put on primetime there is always gonna be one in the burg and the announces just rave of how pumped the crowd is, and its before the music starts with 60+ screaming Lets Go...Hokies. Come down on a Thursday night and don't be biased about your team...its insane.

My high school has a better entrance than some of these. We use a more recent Metallica song. I have been to a game in Lincoln, and that video does no justice. What a great entrance. I personally loved Iowa's entrance when I saw it in person (that video isn't even close to what it was like). There might not be a better place to host a Thursday night ESPN game than Blacksburg, VA, but the entrance really isn't that special. South Carolina has a great entrance. I liked FSU's entrance in person as well. Clemson has the only entrance with great long standing tradition and flare. It is also unique which most other schools cannot boast.
