Here's your chance to fireyourcoach.com

In the wake of Iowa buying up several fire[COACH'S NAME].com domains earlier this year, there are still plenty of opportunities to for fans to Zook their coach with a fire your coach domain.

A company called RedShirted.com owns the domain rights to quite a few fire your coach domains that college football fans might be interested in. Prices for most domains range from $50-$250, but "very reasonable offers" will be considered.

The most interesting aspect is how the domains themselves are priced. For example, fireSylvesterCroom.com is priced at $250, whereas a domain for TCU head coach Gary Patterson -- who is, by all reports, pretty secure in his position with the Horned Frogs -- is priced at only $100.

If you listen to the market, it doesn't look good for Coach Sly, huh?

I don't like to see anyone get fired. It just puts a bad taste in my mouth. If it's a question of an individual being a danger to themselves or others, then, I can see it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be my 1st option. If I had that kind of heart, i.e. strictly business, I'd say WVU needs a new 2ndary's coach. That, or a new DC, who understands all aspects of his "D": line, LB's, and backs. Given I couldn't do any of that any better myself, it's just as well I'm not the one to make that decision.

Mister Spurrier is qualified to fire Gamecock fans before we can become qualified to fire him.

I just don't get it. Chan Gailey won the division with REGGIE BALL at quarterback, and Tech fans want him fired. Hopefully it was mostly Patrick Nix's doing though.

Fireronzook.com was a novelty, and it was funny. Now this storyline is just old and down-right mean. Perhaps if the media just ignored it, it would die a natural death.

well put war eagle......i wonder if the people who come up with these fire----.com websites ever take into consideration of the magnitude of what they are doing.....do they even care that these coaches have families that have to put up with the nonsense that goes with these websites.....i read a story of the children of zook getting ripped into at school and his wife having to listen to it at the grocery store as well as other places....trashing people just because of losing FOOTBALL GAMES.....nice message we are sending out to the younger generation...

when you rip into coaches publicly then you throw the rest of the family under the bus too....i would like to find the guy who started the fireronzook website....wait till he screws up at work..then publicly humiliate him and his family for his work ethics and blunders....that would be justice for me......

eye for an eye.....that is what it says in the good book....

    go gators ......and hokies

Gatorstud, I used the think that the guy who started fireronzook.com was mean too, but I recently visited the site and read everything he said. He seems like he had a good point to me. As soon as they announced Zook was the new coach, disagreed and knew it was a bad decision. Zook proved him right. He seems like a good Gator fan to me

    Good post gatorstud I agree
Its real easy to look at the negative and critisize. Coaching football is very hard and demanding job, not like selling domain names etc.

Gatorstud: I'm with you. The effect that something so mean-spirited has on a coach's family is horrible. I've never been the one who's first thought is to start harping about having the coach fired. Back in the old days, the really big zealots would place the 'For Sale' signs in the coach's yard. These days, they start a website.

The FRZ guy always claimed to be a 'loyal' gator. Yea? How loyal are you in bringing all this negative attention to your school? What purpose are you serving by airing all your dirty laundry for everyone to see? It was very vindictive. But I read the site. The guy did know his football, and he did have a sense of humour. But I kept thinking about what he might accomplish if he didn't start with such a negative premise. Any clue in Gator nation where he might be now? I'm sure he's blogging gator football. I'm also sure that you're not the only gator fan he alienated, although not many on here have ever said anything.

I'm curious what guys like gatorhippy and Tampa Gator thought about this subject...

Wow!! I'm surprised at all this sensitivity, especially coming from the likes of Auburn fans. Am I the only one who remembers the back door attempt to oust Tuberville immediately before he took the War Tiger Eagles to an undefeated season? I guess so.

This kind of criticism goes with the job and - I'm sorry, but - this is why they get the big bucks. Do any of you think that your HC is worth 10x what he pays his DC and OC? This is a conservative estimate by the way! Does he deliver 10x the value of his coordinators? Of course not! He gets the big bucks because he's taking the biggest risk, he's facing the fans, and he will inevitably face the most criticism. While I certainly don't condone vicious attacks on the coach's personal life and certainly not his family, he has to be prepared for this. You don't run for president expecting that no one will second guess your decisions.

Regarding #10, you raise a good point. Chan has had some good wins (see Auburn and Miami) to his credit and some pathetic losses too (see Georgia and Wake Forest) the last couple of years. The fact of the matter is that when Reggie Ball walked on the field for a game, he was either ready to play or he wasn't. It was usually obvious by the middle of the first quarter of each game which personality of the schizophrenic quarterback was playing, Doctor Ball or Mister Reggie. Chan should have learned to recognize this and benched him before the second quarter if he wasn't performing. Reggie's performance never improved through the course of a game (with the possible exception of one game against Clemson - a comeback win). He either started hot and continued or he didn't. I blame Chan for failing to recognize this.

The FRZ guy was right, so you cant really blame him. He still rooted for the gators. Its like criticizing the Iraq war. You don't have to agree with everything your team/school/country does. The negatively might have helped get Zook fired

firejimtressel.com for exposing how bad the Big 10 really is. if it wasn't for the fact that the Big 10 is a conference of underachieving low talent teams that beat up on each other all season we would see how bad they were early on and they wouldn't take up a NC spot for a better team.

Ramblin Gator: Apples to oranges, my friend. A meddling trustee, the AD, and the university President tried to oust Tuberville. The FRZ incident was a grass-roots, fan-based attempt to get Zook fired. The only thing they have in common is that they both made the schools look bad. I was ashamed at the whole Petrino affair. If I was a Gator, I'd be ashamed of the FRZ thing.

I do agree with you in your second paragraph. Yes, that's why they pay 'em the big bucks. Too much credit for the good stuff and too much blame for the bad. It goes with the territory.

Where do you sit on the whole 'Fire Chan Gailey' bandwagon?

#19 War Eagle Atlanta: I'm pretty disappointed in Chan Gailey. As I wrote earlier, continuing to put Reggie on the field while he's having a bad game was often disastrous. Having the nation's best receiver - Calvin Johnson - and not throwing to him more often was mysterious and stupid. He allows John Tenuta to run the defense and they tend to perform above their talent level. Meanwhile, he continues to meddle in the offense and they are inconsistent and have underperformed most of the time. He finally delegated offensive play calling to Patrick Nix this season and things started to improve, but he still held the controls on personnel (i.e. who starts).

For me, this will be a pivotal season for Chan. He's doing well with 2008 recruiting, but has he learned any lessons from his mistakes of the past? I'm expecting another 5-loss season and calls for his firing.

Regarding FRZ, I'm not ashamed because - as you noted - it was a grass roots effort. I actually think it's nice that the financially less-gifted fans have a voice in these matters, not just the big contributors. Perhaps it is a bit different than the Tuberville mess, but go ask and Seminole fan how they felt about Jeff Bowden.

Ramblin': Actually, that's a good point I didn't consider: It gives the average fan a voice. However, I don't recall FRZ having threads that anyone could post on. He might have put up a few emails he received, but it wasn't an open-sourced kind of thing. I believe it appeared before blogs really started to come into vogue. Now days, with quite a few people blogging their favorite team, it might be more of a grass-roots thing--having virtually anyone able to post to your threads.

Having Tech in my back yard, I consider myself a part-time Tech fan, even attending a game here and there. Reggie Ball reminded me of a 4-year starter at Auburn, Pat Nix's predecessor, Stan White. White started out as a hot-shot freshman, and while I don't want to say that he got worse the next three subsequent years, he didn't get any better, either. Same with Reggie Ball. And yes, it was a crime to have Calvin Johnson and not chuck it downfield to him every third play. What a waste of talent.

The curious thing I noticed though, after Tech's disappointing finish, was that Gailey's name started floating around for two HC vacancies in the NFL. To my knowledge, no Tech fans were really up in arms about that. I guess it just goes to show you...

What's your story with Tech/FL? Undergrad at one, master's at the other? Originally from there? I was born and raised a Georgia fan, but once I crossed the state lines, I never looked back.

War Eagle: You guessed it - I grew up in FL with every other member of my family going to Gainesville (except me). I've been a Gators fan since I was about four, but I went to GT for my BS degree and later went to grad school at South Florida.

(Showing me age) I remember Stan White. He was a bit disappointing after his freshman year.
