i believe the best game of the weekend will be tonights game.....
i believbe that usf will be able to put up points on w. virginia....but the question is.....will usf score enough points to outscore slaten & white......those two work so well together...usf will have their hands full.....but i am calling for the upset....south florida at home.....south florida by 6 pts......
i am also going with wisconsin to beat michigan state...and for cal to beat oregon....no upsets there....
another one to watch will be ohio state at minnesota....i like minnesota at home..but o-state looks prettty good so far....close game.....i'm goin w/ the golden gophers pulling it out w/ a field goal at the end to win....
and of course....purdue by 21......sorry domers....another loss

Hey OU Ron you and everyone on this blog know that I picked Kansas State to upset texas. Now I starting to think like you. It would be GREAT if both teams enter the Cotton Bowl undefeated. If OU wins and I hope they do that would give them a victory over a Top 10 team. OU then would have a quality win. There are plenty of good games but I say Wisconsin has the greater chance to get beaten when Michigan State comes to Madison. Wisconsin has not looked great since their victory over Washington State. California at Oregon is the marquee game of the week. I am shocked that ABC would put USC at Washington on instead. I got my own reason why but it's a conspiracy as some fans on here would call it.

I think that K state will upset Texas. And then hopefully my boys will start to look better as long as S Florida can take care of WV in Morgantown. Two loses don't look as bad if one of them is to a Top 25 team. Now there noting I can say about Miss St that was just a bad game all around

Hey Rammer Jammer I am giving no one USC or OU a shoe-in for the National Title. OU still has texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State. Yes that right I said OSU. OSU always play OU tough when they are ranked HIGH. USC still has Oregon, Californa, and Arizona State to play. Florida and Louisiana State don't need any explaination since they play each other. So I ain't giving anyone the keys to the locker room at the Superdome yet!

Gatorstud, there were 3 games I feared the most for my Mountaineers. They got past the 1st, at MD, and now face S FL, the 2nd. The 3rd was in Piscataway against Rutgers; that was before Cinci emerged as a viable 4th.
You could well be right. This game could come down to how well the opposing defenses play, how well the opposing offenses execute; it could come down to special teams, something few have considered regarding this game. Likely, it will be close. It could be the best match-up this weekend, but I’m leaning toward Cal at OR. So, no matter how you slice it, at least 2 undefeated's are going down.
My picks
NC/VA Tech: Hokies look better than Tar Heals (That's not saying much.).
ND/Purdue: Sadly, another loss for the Irish.
PA St/IL: IL early, PA St going away.
LSU/Tulane: Surf's up, but LSU rolls.
MS St/SC: Fighting Roosters have already proven they're tougher than Bulldogs; no change here.
Ole MS/GA: Too close to call.
FL Atlantic/KY: There may well be 5 good teams in FL, but KY is better than TX; sorry, Tomcat.
UMass/BC: Folks, the Eagle has landed; nuff said.
OK/CO: I think the Buffalos make it interesting…for about a half.
IA St/NE: IA St may not be Ball St, but don't tell that to IA; NE.
Clemson/GA Tech: Will the real GA Tech please stand up; Tech.
MD/Rutgers: Now, we'll see what Rutgers is made of; Knights.
K St/TX: Last year was not a fluke; TX has something to prove; TX.
MI St/WI: Badgers will look better than their last outing.
Cal/OR: Way too close to call.
AL/FSU: If AL paces themselves, and weathers the usual storm, they'll leave Tallahassee with a win.
HI/ID: This could be as interesting as HI's last encounter.
Auburn/FL: Auburn's defense can only keep them in this one for so long.
USC/WA: If OSU can win there, USC certainly can.
OSU/MN: Gatorstud, I'm no pundit, but MN has lost to the MAC & Sun Belt. Do you honestly think they'll beat the Buckeye's?
AS St/Stanford: This one could be interesting; Sun Devils.Other notables, I like Navy over Air Force, Louisville over NC St, OR St over UCLA, VA over Pitt, TCU over CO, BYU over NM, WA St over AS, and Cinci over San Diego St. Temple/Army, IN/IA, & Syracuse/Miami(OH) could also be interesting to watch.

zac....i knew i would catch some slack on the minn - o. state game.....o-state had an impressive win @ washington.....but this is an away conference game for the buckeyes.....i'm calling for a tough close game....won by who has the ball last.....
as for w. virg. and usf....if slaten and white can light up the scoreboard early...usf won't be able to keep up...but if usf keeps it close going into the fourth quarter......watch out.......
but good luck to you guys anyway.....you have two really talented players on your team.....one of them should be picking up hardware in new york this winter....jmho

This might be out of character for an SEC guy, but I think that Cal-Oregon has to be the best one to watch this weekend. Clemson-Ga Tech should be good, and FSU-Alabama should be interesting. I hate to say it, but the last 2 Alabama games have been more entertaining than Auburn's.
That could change though if the football gods smile on the Tigers this weekend...

I know the buckeyes are young, esp on offense,
but MN has like the last place defense in all of college football...
and on the other side of the ball, minn has moved the ball and scored some points, but hasnt seen anything like the defense they will face...
I know Northwestern sucks, but 33 rushes for 0 yards? OSU plays some serious D.
I havent seen a defense this year, other than LSU, who plays smothering run D, fly to the ball like OSU, and they don't miss tackles.
I just wish we could play some better teams..I mean, how can you tell how good you are if you are always playing scrubs?
watch the game and you'll see what i mean about the defense. if Mn is within 21 points it will be a major letdown for OSU

grcunning, from the little bit that I've seen I'd say that WV could just walk all over them early and then SF would just roll over and die. That didn't happen and WV didn't know how to respond. I'd say it's more that SF is that good but WV beat themselves. I'm not sure who your rooting for but I hope that SF holds on to get the W so Texas will move up, maybe even more that one spot if they play well enough and Cal gets beat.

OUCH!!! And, I do mean, OUCH!!! YO! Bevo!!! What nut said WVU would walk all over S FL? It certainly wasn't me. In fact, I'm the one who has been fearing this game above all others this year.
What really breaks my heart is the wasted effort by WVU's defense. Everybody has been getting on them, including me, regarding poor showings against W MI & Marshall. WVU's defense held S FL to 14 points. It was S FL's defense that scored one of their 3 TD's.
Mike Dent probably played his worst game at Center. Too many snaps were botched, many not as obvious as others. Then, there were issues with hand-offs that were so uncharacteristic of WVU's offense. Finally, there were the TO's; WVU had 6; S FL took advantage of 1. WVU didn't take advantage of any of the 4 TO's forced by their defense.
In effect, the defenses ruled the day. S FL's proved to be the greater. Matt Grothe and the S FL offense should thank every one of them, because they spent a lot of time on the field. When it came down to crunch time, they refused to let WVU back in it. My hat's off to Jim Leavitt and all the S FL Bulls. They have a lot to be proud of, and they earned it.

I did OK last week in my picks. Pretty much nailed the Notre Dame/Michigan State score. Let's see how I do this week. Is anyone else here brave enough to actually leave the scores of your predictions? If you do it long enough, you'll get one right! ;o)
Purdue over Notre Dame (40-20)
Illinois over Penn State (24-23)
Miami over Duke (33-13)
Virginia Tech over N.C. (20-16)
Michigan State over Wisconsin (26-21)
N.C.State over Louisville (31-24)
Cincinnati over San Diego State (26-10)
Maryland over Rutgers (21-20)
Oregon over Cal (26-24)
G.Tech over Clemson (27-16)O.K. folks....I'll be stupid enough to go out on a limb since no one else will....
USC-30.......Washington-31!
That's enough predictions for this week. Good night.

Lennie, lennie. Your are right this time. It is a conspiracy putting USC/Washington on. It's a conspiracy to make money. What a concept for a publicly held Co. I wasn't aware a network was obligated to put the best game of the day on. If that was the case, NBC would cancel it's contract with Notre Dame. Good N.D. bad N.D., they have a huge following that makes a nice profit for the network whether the rest of us want to watch their games or not. You seem like a cool guy, but len, all these conspiracy comments seem a little immature.
No offense buddy, you make some other good points.

Hey DmanLV that immature remark you know where you can go with it and what to do with it. NBC has a contract with Notre Dame to show their games. I almost sure when they sighed it Notre Dame was winning and they thay that it would continue. I am sure NBC does not want a lawsuit for suddenly breaking it because they are losing. All my buddies here in Austin, Texas agree with me that the California at Oregon game is the game of the week. Read some of the comments in this blog. They are showing USC at Washington so when USC blows Washington out and they should they can back it up by saying see the hold USA saw it. Hey they did it last year with Ohio State and texas. How and the (beep) USC at Washington is "making money" I don't know! Since AUTigers03 and I have yet to blow down and jock USC and I know I won't on my part...I guess we just gone be some immature (beep) on here. #30 Kev I agree, perfect fit. Then again why leave? $$$$ He's already in a BCS conference.
#33 Ya I'm laughing Ron, but I dont think they are following his advice.Always go for three points instead of six for example, or move the ball on the ground burning clock time when you are behind in the 4th quarter. Whats really messed up is that someone would actually pay for that advice, much less use it to their advantage.
Hey coach heres 1,200 bucks you think I ought to give the ball to my 270lb running back? No I wouldnt give it to him I'd try to throw the ball then put in a freshman QB at the end. Remember when your deep in the opponents red zone and its 4th down and short even though youve been moving it all day bring in the feild goal unit. That will be another 1,200 dollars worth. Close game? Are you kidding me? I hope you said that tongue-in-cheek, because that game won't even be close. Minnesota is giving up 407.8 passing yards per game and their total defense at 543.2 YPG is last in the nation. Even if you don't think OSU's offense is thus far untested--come on. Boeckman leads the Big 10 in passing efficiency at 172.06. Plus, OSU put up 58 on Northwestern, and NW gives up 170 fewer YPG than the Gophers. The Gophers are also -12 in turnover margin already, and they'll be facing the current #2 defense in the nation.
Not to mention the fact that they've never beaten OSU in the Metrodome and haven't won a game against them since 2000.
Unless the sun supernovas at 7:59pm tonight, this game will be a blowout.

bevo...im a buckeye alum, so i was rooting for SF. i was really looking forward though, to seeing that WV offense ive been hearing so much about. I guess when you've been running the ball at will, you just start to assume that you can do it against everyone. Once SF started stuffing the run, it looked like WV was shocked, and didn't have much of a passing game to turn to.
It was a great win for the SF program, but with so many turnovers, and very little offense, i cant see them getting by Rutgers and Cinncinati.

Where's Diggs? Anyone seen Diggs in here? Perhaps he's still on the bus back to Morgantown. Anyway, here's Diggs' quote when USF beat Auburn:

I'm assuming, Diggs, that we can say that South Florida beat West Virginia down, huh? It's hard to win with SEVEN turnovers. USF must lead the nation in takeaways, having 12 between Auburn and WV. Looks like the game between those two next year could be dubbed 'The Turnover Bowl'.
Come take your licks like a man, Diggs. Sorry for your loss, Zac! Had a little business with the Diggs-man to finish!
Da Bulls are the premier team in the Big East this year, with the Cards and Eers faltering. Note to USF fans: drop the hook 'em horns gesture. It's not yours, it's Texas'. If they could copyright finger gestures, they probably would.

Lennie, ok, ok, calm down. Look at yours now.
Lennie, you understand that N.D./USC whether they are 13-0,10-3 or 8-5 are always going to be on T.V.because of thier huge fanbase. The networks always make money on these teams no matter what thier records are. You could have a #1 ranked Arkansas vs Missippi and two very ave. USC/UCLA teams playing at the same time and who do you think the networks would prefer to show? You know the answer to that, there are more people in L.A. than in those two states combined. Again, the networks are about making money, not just what game you may want to see. Based on what you're saying, the networks should consult this blog before decding which games to show. BTW, USC/WASH will make ABC plenty of money for your information. " Jock " whatever you want but at least try and make some statements that have a little bit of understanding and reality behind them. Lennie, I know it's seems like I'm busting your chops, but based on your "spread" theory, since LSU didn't cover the spread by 17 points does this now make them the #5 team in the country. Just curious if you will hold teams you like to the same standard as teams you don't like.

S.H.A.-as a matter of fact yes, that's why they are on national T.V. "again". You can count the number of times on one hand that Alabama has been on national T.V. the last decade. BTW, My props to the TIDE since they are my uncle's team from up in Anniston. Hopefully his suffering (one of the best men I've ever known) is ending with Saban as coach now.

Hey Sweet Home Alabama according to DmanLV you should be thrilled to see the #1 team on tv. This man is trying his best to make fun of me about point spread but he even stated that some teams got to have style points to move up! What in the (beep) is style points except win by a large margin! In other words exceed the point spread. I guess style points could mean keepin' your jersey clean if you are playing on a grass field or rubber pellets off you if you are on fieldturf? It could also mean moonwalking in the endzone for a score or doing flips into the endzone for a score. When Oklahoma drops to #4 and Florida moves to #3 I wonder why that would happen? Let me see...Oklahoma was favorite by 22 and did not cover or maybe they were to dirty from the grass stains on their jerseys?

Lennie, my point has nothing to do with USC winning big. Until that point, I've have not once talked smack about Oklahoma or LSU. You on the other hand have punked USC. Don't punk a team you don't like and not exspect blowback when your team
doesn't look like a #1 team. You dogged USC about the Idaho game, Well sir, It's time to dogg your own team about the Colorado game. What's the old saying ? "what goes around comes around". I've watched USC play three games where the game was over by the second quarter and Yet you've "smacked" USC. Yet your team has played three home games agaist some pretty poor quality teams and now they go on the road and get stood up by an ave. (I'm being kind)Colorado team and you don't think I'm not going to toss the smack back at ya. Come on now, get a little stand-up will ya.Lennie Collins

DmanLV you right...Idaho and Washington State superb teams. Go back and read my comments I gave USC praises for beating NU. I gave texas praises for beating TCU and I don't even like texas. Go back and read my posts...my son gives me joy NOT OU FOOTBALL! There is always the texas victory next week and there is always next year. Take note DmanLV I am not making excuses. OU had an opportunity to put CU away and they did not. It came back to burn the team! If you are at home or on the road and beating a team by 17 points...finished them off. CU did not quit and that should have sent a message to Robert Stoops to bring the A+++++ game in the second half and he didn't. He got outcoached and OU got outplayed! I give CU much credit...most teams would have scheduled teams they know they can beat for homecoming but not CU. So let me see what you come up with after this post. Oh...He's making excuses, oh he's mad, oh he's stupid for picking OU. So far YOU have stated I am immature for not PRAISING USC and guess what it still ain't gone happen. The only teams I have ever mentioned I disliked are texas and Notre Dame, only because what they did to TY WILLINGHAM. So I am very curious to see what you type about me next. Lennie, you have mastered the art of spin. State where and when (time & date) I said your were immature for not praising USC. Didn't happen, not, notta. That is spin. Also, before you start praising a team (OK) or smacking a team (USC) try to have some knowledge based on fact and not emotion when you make statements. I may be picking on you, but I've read statement after statement you've made based on emotion with very little reasoning behind those statements. It's the old he's my bother he's not guilty, it's my neighbor he's as guilty as sin approach. You base your thoughts on emotion. It's my team (my brother) and they are the greatest, They are overhyped (my neighbor) and overated. If you have noticed, I have not once got on here and said USC will crush so & so. At the same time I've have said in the past I don't know who will be #1 as the season goes on we'll find out. What I have said is USC's record the last 5+ yeaqrs of (62-6) speaks for itself and any accolades they get is well deserved. If USC is not deserving of the acclaim than who and what is in college football.
When the Floida schools dominated college football back in the 90's I at any point didn't talk smack about them even though I didn't like it becuase it would of been disengenous. That's what you seem to be doing to USC. Just because they are not your team and they are currently on top of the college football world and you don't like them you are "smacking" USC for no real good reason.OU-Ron

grcunning (#17):
Yeah, the ND over PUR thing is a result of bias.
I have 3 teams that are dear to me - Clemson, Tennessee, and Miami (FL). Due to this, I will always pick these to win their games, regardless of how sane the pick actually is.
One of my best friends is in the USAF, and has gotten stationed overseas the last 2 college football seasons. He loves CF, and is a Notre Dame fanatic. Last year, I recorded the ND games and sent them to him in Iraq. He always backs me up when I pull for one of my teams, so I always back up the Irish in return.
So yes, I'll pick the Irish to win, even when the Trojans come calling. It's the price of loyalty. :-)

But, I'm not a grey are person. I don't beleive in conspiracy or theory. As I've said to many a USC fan, Texas won fair & square, Elvis is dead and there are no alien aircraft flying around area 51.
I'm not very subjective when it comes to facts. As one of my best friends said, I'm a very tough debate when you come at me with anything but facts. What do we do if South Florida wins them all? South Florida in the driver's seat in the Big East. I love it. This is a great game we follow guys. Today has been an experience. I am glad that the Georgia game was not on TV this week. It was an absolute pleasure to not go to Athens and instead listen to Munson on the radio. He had some great calls, we had some great plays, and I had a great time. Looks like the DAWGS secondary needs to tighten up or Ainge might pick us apart next week. I think a lot of the passing yards today were driven by that huge O Line that Ole Miss had. We had no pressure on them all day. But for those of you that did not listen to the game, it was much closer than 45-17. GO DAWGS!!

Yeah I listened to the whole thing on the radio, couldn't find it on PPV.
When we exploded in the beginning with the touchdown pass and almost went up 14-0 after that, I thought we were gonna pull a big win. But our defense just kept giving up big chunks of yardage over and over again and thats what killed us.
Green-Ellis is a senior this year I believe, but I wish we'd throw more. Our receivers are way underestimated.

Been there and done that. When AU starts running the ball like they are tonight, Al Borges will kill you. He has FLA so off their game on defense. FLA better start blitzing or it is all over. If they keep playing the zone, the play action will hit them for a long one over the middle. Mark it down. I call a TD for about 50 yards over the middle for AU on the next possession. Superman hit some kryptonite so far tonight. GO DAWGS!!Zac said:

man, i wish i had more tv's!! there must have been something in the air. LSU looked pretty sluggish,at least at first, USC squeezed by(although they are known to have some trouble on the road, and Wash played way better than they did when they played us).
For those of you that missed the OSU game because of Fl and USC, the score was a little bit misleading. We didn't exactly set the world afire. it was a typical buckeye tresselball performance, pound it down your throat until you pull up the safeties, then play action and go deep. When in doubt, punt, and play D. There was just too many mistakes on offense (holding, illegal shifts, etc), which is pretty understandable on an offense with no seniors, but we wont always play teams that our defense can completely shut down.how bout:

Listen, AU has played terrible at home early this year but 18 point underdogs wow i think that was nuts. They play better on the road and have for a long time. Auburn was certainly going to be their first real defensive test.

I am somewhat relieved that Oklahoma lost. For one, I hoped but did not expect Oklahoma to make it to the BCS national title this year. Oklahoma has a good team, but their good team needs improvement. Bradford is a freshman and will only get better. Members of fanblogs, I strongly believe that Oklahoma will make it to the national championship game within the next 2 years. Even with this years team, Oklahoma loses a very small number of seniors. Now, what pisses me off is that Oklahoma blowing the lead in the 4th quarter is starting to become a routine thing. However, I guess that is bound to happen when the defense in on the field for pretty much the entire second half. Also, OU receivers dropping passes does not helps the situation neither. Also, I blame the Oklahoma coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson was too damn conservative in my opinion. He had the play conservative attitude and hoped to hang on to the lead which I believe helped contribute to the Oklahoma loss. And to Sam Bradford, I know I am not you and I know I was not on the field yesterday competing against Colorado, but throw the rock to Malcolm Kelly more often m

I know Texas wants revenge from that loss from last year, but then again K State wants to show that game was not just luck. Not a Texas fan as all of you know, but I do want Texas to win and OU to take care of business at Colorado so both teams will be undefeated when they meet at the Cotton Bowl. Should be a GREAT GAME.
