Now that it's Friday, Auburn will start to pick up all that Gator support out there, hoping that we'll beat Georgia. Rumblings around the ATL indicate that most people think that Auburn may win. Boy, it's nice to have the Gators in your corner.
Everyone seems to think that Arkansas will beat Tennessee.
Can you imagine the fallout if Notre Dame loses to another service academy on successive weekends?

My predictions:
Clemson over Wake Forest
Michigan over Wisconsin in a close one
Mizzou over Texas A&M
Kentucky trounces Vanderbilt
D-Mac and the Hogs roll over the Volunteers
The Tide rolls over the Bulldogs
USC over Cal
Kansas keeps rolling
Auburn and Georgia... this is a tough one. But the Georgia running game prevails and the Dawgs look ahead to the SEC championshipVT over FSU
'Canes take out the Cavaliers
This week's upset picks (my opinion):
Illinois comes outta nowhere and stuns Ohio State
South Carolina picks up where it left off last year and beats the Gators in another close one
Air Force over Notre Dame (but is this really an upset?)

Cowbell it's hard to predict Bama this year. If they are really clicking like they did against Tennessee, they can run up a score in a hurry.
If John Parker is on target this week, I'm thinking 28-10. If he's not hitting, it could be a long afternoon.
I don't think that they will slip up on us again. We know that they are capable of beating anyone on a given Saturday.
Just hope that there are no injuries on either side.

One thing that you can count on is that Auburn will show up and play good defense.
I'm impressed with little number 1. I think that his name is Lester.

Lennie, actually you didn't pick Texas vs. TCU. The rest of the games you didn't pick or at least you didn't show that pick publically, but I encourage you to pick them every week as it will almost always make you seem smart. But anyway, is there a website like this for college basketball?

OSU would be stunned to lose to Ill, but they won't be coming out of nowhere, Ron Zook has them playing like they expect to win. We need a little more of that attitude in the Big10.(Please, SEC, send us some more good coaches!)
Lennie..
You're not picking the Ark-Tenn game?
Everything you've got there looks good to me, except I have a hard time seeing Aub>GaI've got
OSU>Ill

#34, wisc over mich is pretty reasonable. Wisc is a decent team, as are a lot of the big ten teams despite the lack of respect they get this year. Mich has a decent offense (a better coach could make it a great offense...not that Carr is THAT terrible, just not really a motivator), but the defense is still pretty imature...just not that good. Wisc can and will beat the defense. The offense will hang for a while. Big plays in UM's favor will make the final score close, as it always has this year. On the plus side, our hockey team is #2, and we had the most fullbright scholars of any school (including the Ivy's) this year. So we still have plenty of things to be proud of...and that is why we are better than your school.

Oklahoma will win the NC this year
But they will not play in the BCS title game.
Here is the scenario:
- Southern Cal wins out and ends the season the consensus best 2-loss team
- Michigan beats Ohio State
- Oregon beats LSU
- Oklahoma beats SC in the Fiesta bowl more convincingly than Oregon beat SC earlier this season.OU will win the AP title, and Oregon will win the crystal football.

Speaking of civil war analogies, if you want to know one of history's little ironies, check this out. General William Tecumsah Sherman, the man who ravished and burned his way through the South during the Civil War, who is basically considered to be Atilla the Hun to Southerners, do you know what he was doing immediately before the outbreak of the Civil War?
He was the president of LSU.
I kid you not. Actually, it was the university that became LSU. He was the president. Once the Southern states seceded, he returned to the north and accepted a commission again in the US army.
Betcha TE didn't know that!

All I have to say OSU fans is how about that fumble that Illinois had that didn't get reviewed?? I hate it when the refs decide a game. That should have been replayed by the booth officals. They cost OSU the game. It should at least gone to overtime. That fumble would have taken 7pts off the board. No one on ESPN even talked about it being a bad call. I guess we know who they are against.

The refs didn't decide the game, although it was an interesting side note that the 9th most penalized team in the Big 10(11) was penalized just once, I believe.
The fact is, the referees didn't allow the play where the kid fumbled to run for 75 yards prior to fumbling the ball. The Buckeye defense did.
The referees didn't throw 3 interceptions. Todd Boeckman, the OSU QB, did.
The referees didn't allow Illinois to keep the ball for approximately 13 minutes out of 15 in the 4th quarter. The Buckeye defense did.
The referees didn't allow one of the worst-rated passing offenses to dominate the game--the OSU defense did.
Illinois won the football game. The referees didn't cost OSU the game. OSU lost fair and square.

Why don't you list the brawls that Miami has been involved with? I know that they exist...but is it really as many as you think it is?
Regardless...If Miami's reputation is Brawling Thugs & 5 national titles since 83' and finishing 2nd in the polls another 4 or 5 times....I'll take it. Most fans here wouldn't mind the exact same reputation for their favorite team. ;o)
Tom....the Buckeyes will be O.K. for years to come for 2 reasons.
#1)I don't think Tressel wants to do the NFL.
#2)Ohio State doesn't have ANY in state competition for blue-chip Ohio recruits (unlike the states of Florida, Texas, California, etc...)Tom Blogical

I'm well aware of that, and of course I'm not happy about it since I'm a Buckeye fan myself--but like I said--the referees didn't allow that kid to run for 75 yards just prior to fumbling, either. That set up 1st and goal which led to the TD. The #1 team should be able to overcome adversity like that, and maybe force them to settle for just 3, and at least settle down the rest of the game. That didn't happen. Illinois played well and they deserved to win.
The bottom line is, the 3 picks Illinois got and the Illini offense holding the ball for 13 out of 15 minutes in the 4th quarter did the Buckeyes in, not the officiating.

Cowbell05 #93 why should I be mad? My team, I will type it CAPITAL LETTERS, is THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS. THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS COLORS ARE CRIMSON AND CREAM. THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES COLORS ARE SCARLET, GREY, AND BLACK. THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS PLAY IN THE BIG 12. THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES PLAY IN THE BIG 11. The only link I have to OHIO STATE is that MY BROTHER is a fan. My cousin attends OHIO STATE. I AM AN OKLAHOMA SOONERS FAN. GA Boy #97 that was no fluke...Oklahoma did not finish the game against Colorado.

Damn hahahahahahahahahahahahaha(still laughing)
The mighty Alabama Dark Red Tide and War Chicken Auburn Tigers have a combined 0-4 record against any team named the bulldogs in the SEC.
I guess bulldogs just don't like teams from the state of Alabama.ps. Teams from the state of Alabama are a combined 0-6 against any SEC team named the bulldogs if you count TROY and UAB

As for our big W...I watched the replay last night...Can't say I saw much, though Flynn is a tad inconsistent...
On first down, he'll look off the safeties and the secondary like he's Joe Montana...The next, he's locked in like Ryan Leaf and nearly gets picked...
Just has not looked comfortable, though we did very well this weekend in all phases, on the whole.
I admittedly did not attend the game or watch it on TigerVision on Saturday...I am the best man in a wedding this Saturday, and this past Saturday was his batchelor Party...So, I got radio updates from time to time, but couldn't watch the game till yesterday...
I did get a chance to see Bama's "performance". Right now, it looks like you guys are paying a million per loss...
How's that hire working out for you all again?

I see he out did himself, Ron, by singing part of his post game analysis. Catchy little tune, really...
And the final stanza:
"and I hope Nick Saban will remember, the SEC doesn't need him around any how..."
Ok, actually I don't have a problem with Nick Saban. But you remember how they called out Neil Young in that song? Well...

TE, As far as your obsession with Nick Saban just remember one thing.
Rome wasn't built in a day!!!
Saban didn't build up the Bayou Bengals to what they are today in one season either...
Did he TE????
So, keep on with the Saban-bashing because whether you admit it or not, LSU is the #1 team in the nation on Saban's recruits.
Just as Saban is playing with Shula's recruits.
The Tide players are young and should only improve.
TE, you had better hope you play Tenn in the SEC Champ game because T-Mac doesn't see LSU beating Florida again.
Florida is peaking at just the right time.
Besides that fact, Miles will bolt for Michigan anyway as soon as Carr is let go!
Hey TE, Franchione should be available.
We all know how LOYAL he is...
Right???
T-Mac will post when he can.

T-Mac,
Chad Jones wasn't a Saban recruit, and he sure sacked Sarah Jessica John Parker Wilson...That wasn't a Saban recruit...neither was Curtis Taylor, the guy who was there to sack SJJPW with him...
Herman Johnson is the only starter on our offensive line, and Early Doucet's missed the ENTIRE year at wideout...Other than Flynn & Hester...please point out one person on offense that's started every game that's a Saban recruit...
In the words of Katt Williams, "Don't worry...I'll wait."
Leaving Doucet out since he's missed most of the meat of our schedule, we've benefitted from two starters on offense being Saban recruits...and EVERYONE in Baton Rouge will tell you that Hester's our third most talented running back but our most dependable.
WOW!!!!!!! Saban's recruits are certainly powering the 19th ranked offense in the NCAA, aren't they? Herman Johnson, Flynn, and Hester...WOWSERS!
Sure nailed that one...LOL!
On defense...let's see...Chevis & Zenon, our two corners...Yes. They're Saban recruits. But, they've been coached every year after their freshman year by Pelini and his position coaches. So, their development and progression is far more an example of our S&C coordinator-Tommy Moffitt (Who Nicky Bling wanted BAD but got spurned for less guaranteed money when he came calling; which should tell you something)-and our current coaching staff than anything Saban did.
On the defensive line...Al Woods is starting opposite of Dorsey, so that's 1 Saban guy & one Miles guy...and the Florida guys would tell you Dorsey's a non-factor in most games. The defensive ends are one fifth year senior whose missed two straight seasons with season ending injuries in the preseason (again, a testament to our S&C program and Moffitt), and one a third year junior named Tyson Jackson, whose a Miles recruit...
So, two starters there...
At Linebacker, like most programs in the SEC, we play two guys mainly, Derry Beckwith (Miles) & Ali Highsmith (Saban)...
Jacob Cutrera filled in for a resting Beckwith this weekend...He's a Miles guy, too.
At Safety, all but Steltz are Miles recruits...Meaning anytime that LSU goes into Nickel or Dime packages on defense-which is almost all the time in the SEC-we have five Saban players on the field on defense.
Drake Nevis & Pep Levingston-both again Miles recruits-have also played a lot more on the defensive line since Charles Alexander (Saban) went out for the year with an ACL earlier in the year, so on the interior, there's only one, who just happens to be the best. Dorsey says Woods will be twice the player he is...Woods is only a RS Freshman, and he's starting already, by the way.
So, perhaps you might-just maybe-want to do a little more analysis before you open your mouth about "Saban recruits". LSU is winning with Miles' program, the S&C Coordinator that's here now, and Miles' staff, and-mainly-Miles' players, as well...
Eight of 22, and aside from Doucet, our #2 & #3 WR's have passed other Miles recruits to get there.
Lest we forget Ryan Perrilloux and how much he's played and how obviously talented he is...
T-Mac...You know not of what you speak, and I hate to poke such a sharp pin into the over-inflated balloon of reality you've blown your coach and program into...But, the truth is the truth...
Miles has his guys here, and LSU's proven to be able to carry on without Nick Saban, despite what you or others think.
LSU is actually on pace to have their third straight 11 win season, which would be a first for our program...and need I remind you how many double digit win season's your coach has had?
Here's a hint...Twice...and one was the NC year, and the other was a year we had 3 losses, as well...
Good luck, T-Mac...You're going to need it...
Hey, Alabama...Fear the Cowbell!

T-Mac,
I got some words for you...
Pretty sad when you're reduced to hopes that our coach-who "wins with Saban's players" but actually wins with his own-will leave...
But, like I posted Friday...Methinks the 'Ole Ballcoach will be his likely replacement...
What will be your excuse when you drop the soap in Tiger Stadium next year, dog? Will it be Spurrier winning with Miles' recruits who practiced and played with guys who used to be Saban recruits?
Again...have fun with your million dollar per loss coach...and with at least a five loss season in the works, what will it be like to get picked after Moo U and the Cowbells when it comes to the Bowl pecking order?
Get ready, T-Mac...Shreveport and the Indy Bowl is coooooowld in December...and oh yeah...Saban's got an 0-1 record there...LSU & Gerry DiNardon't of all people beat him back in 1995, LOL!

TE, it's like you got dumped and can't get over your ex...
Ex-Coach that is!

9 of 22 starters are Saban recruits???
TE, you don't have to break the whole team down and write a book.

T-Mac, TE acts like the wife who's husband cheated on her. He just can't stop talking about Saban. I think that he's still mad that LSU didn't blow out the Tide like he had predicted.
He should be concered with how LSU is going to stop the running of McFadden and Jones when Arkansas comes to town.
He of all people should know that Saban doesn't have his recruits in the game yet. The way he is making fun of Saban, you would think that Saban had been at Bama for at least 5 years and couldn't recruit any good players.
I wonder if he was this critical of Saban when he coached LSU? He's soon be talking the same trash about Miles when said coach heads for Michigan.
BTW, best time to leave is after a National Championship victory.

Do you dream about Saban at night? Is that why you find a reason to talk about him daily?

SHA,
I just like getting under your skin...I post, and you guys always react...It's so predictable...
I also get a kick out of how you all think we're fixated on Saban...We seriously do like our coach. He's far more aggressive than Saban will ever be.
You guys are seeing the varnish wear off of him and those porcelain veneers...But, a few 24-20 victories where he sits on a 7 point lead and turns into run, run, pass for a five yard, safe out on a 3rd and 9 will have you grumbling about the offense...
Most of you will be so blindly loyal to him and his unrepetantly, unashamedly arrogant manner that you'll blame it on Major and a stagnant plan, but the few in the vocal minority will pipe up and say Saban sits on a lead and "shrinks the game" (His favorite saying, along with "relative to" and "in terms of")...
But, he has huge faults...He instills a culture of fear that won't allow his players to question obvious situational and schematic problems...Witness how LaRon Landry & Travis Daniels in '04 in the Capital One Bowl KNEW the safety blitz was a terrible call for the formation and the situation, yet the fear of checking out to Saban's called defense was so great, they rolled with it and got burned with a game winning late heave by Drew Tate and Iowa...
I'm telling you guys now...I honestly really do like Saban, and I like Miles. Both have their faults, but I'd much rather Miles, the idiot buffoon who beats the tar out of everyone in front of him...
I'm probably pretty sure you guys are alright, too...even overlooking your loyalty to the dirtiest, most cheating program in NCAA history...
I really like T-Mac, BigTide, and Rammer Jammer-who I will NOT hold to the crow eating Change Your Name on Fanblogs Bet from gameweek...
It's just that Sweet Home is still bitter over that 41-34 pill he swallowed...Bitter even moreso now that Coach Croom showed him the Moo U Broom two years in a row...
Oh, and T-Mac...again...
Hester, Doucet, Flynn (Doucet's been out all year), Johnson, on offense.
Dorsey, Pittman, Highsmith, Steltz, Jackson & Zenon...
All of these players were under Saban for all of one year...and Miles has proven to be JUST as good of a recruiter as Saban...Which means that he's DEVELOPING players, as well...
Say what you want, but we're winning...and we're getting BETTER as those players are purging out of the program...
Don't hate...learn to appreciate...

Right???
All of Saban's recruits are big-time names as well.
Most will play on Sunday!
TE, T-Mac appreciates alright.
The National Championship Trophy should still be home in the SEC if LSU can finish!!!
TE, T-Mac just hopes that LSU doesn't have to play Florida again because they are clicking at this point brother!!!
TE, what do you think?
TE, once again T-Mac riddles you this...
Regarding Coach Saban, Rome wasn't built in a day!!!
Anyone who thought for a second that Bama was gonna go 12-0 this season was kidding themselves or they know jack-squat about the game of football!
When the car engine needs an overhaul, it takes some time.
It can't be done in 1 hour.
Saban has been a success everywhere he's been.
That is a fact!
We shall see what the future holds.

Your future holds success...But, the question is will Saban last at 'Bama...
He has proven to be modern college football's ultimate program architect.
He built Michigan State up out of nothing, and when he left, he allowed Bobby Williams-his hand picked successor-to remain with most of his assistants, and they ran the program into the ground without Nick the Prick.
In Baton Rouge, he burned through assistants like LaMarcus Coker burned through a dime bag of weed. Very quickly.
But, he produced and achieved the results that he was paid handsomely for.
I think in retrospect, the move to Alabama, and the rumors that he contacted LSU multiple times through Sexton after the Florida loss last year about returning to LSU should we have an opening, are obvious indicators that Saban realized he had made a mistake.
Not in leaving college ball, mind you. But, in leaving Baton Rouge.
The one thing that Saban has proven in these stops in college has been that he can build a program, whether from scratch, from the ashes, etc. The real test that Saban has never passed is this:
Can he maintain? Can he keep the train on the tracks that he himself has laid?
In his career, he has never, EVER stuck around to find out if indeed he can.
The question for Alabama remains, will this be the stop he decides to answer that question at? Or, is his coaching equivalent of the Magical Mystery Coaching Tour to continue? Whether at another SEC school, or elsewhere in the nation?
Who knows? I know in your heart of hearts, you don't see Saban as a long-term solution in Tuscaloosa. No way you can see him as a good fit.
The question for you all will be: When he does go, and he WILL go, T-Mac, will you hire as well as we did, to replace the man that laid the foundation?
That is the real question. I don't mean to redirect with this...But, that's the real question none of you know the answer to, yet...
