With this many openings currently available, undoubtedly a few more coming open and coaches creating openings in order to fill these current ones...
Is there any doubt that Larry Coker will get a job this year?
I say no...
Looking at that list...
SMU, Duke, NIU, & SoMiss all look like possible landing spots for him...

You guys keep talking about resurrecting Terry Bowden back into coaching, why isn't anyone talking about Jim Donnan? I always thought he got a raw deal from Georgia and that he was a good coach.
Did he turn down any offers a few years ago? I wonder why he doesn't generate any buzz?

However, K-Hue...
I do wonder if we may be seeing a coaching opening for FSU added as an update on this thread in the next month...
The waters in Tally have certainly gotten a little "choppier" and treacherous only two days after Saturday...

#13--What makes Baylor and SMU any worse than Northern Illinois, Duke and Southern Miss? Did you take a look at salaries? You'd have to work 5 years at Northern Illinois for every year at Baylor. For that kind of money, it seems like a no-brainer to me.
I'll give you the Michigan deal, but how do you figure Nebraska is a "great" gig. I love my Big 12 brothers, but Nebraska ain't what it used to be. Especially if they keep Osborne as AD. In fact, I don't see it as any better than A&M or Arkansas.

Army95, Comment 15, you ask why I think Southern Methodist and Baylor is bad? Southern Methodist, should I have to explain? Baylor...competing with Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, for recruits! Who does Nebraska has to compete with for recruits? Get the right coach and Nebraska will be back up in two years!

Lennie--Topic #1: I didn't say I thought they could win. I said I thought they could get paid.
Topic #2: Nebraska is done. They may make some more appearances in the Big 12 Championship game because the KU and MU can't sustain, but in the long run none of them can hold pace with t.u. and OU (and soon enough A&M).

Off the topic, but I would like to take a moment too remember Bill Willis, who passed away Tuesday evening, November 27.
The Ohio State University, retired his #99 jersey during halftime of the Wisconsin game on November 3.
I had the pleasure of meeting him several times and what a wonderful human being he is.
Please take a minute and check the Wikipedia link, which has a very nice bio of him.

Bill, may you rest and peace and God bless you.

Yo, War Eagle, did K-Hue actually quote (Post 20)from Princess Bride?
I wonder if any AD's are considering Coach Rod (WVU) for their openings, especially after Saturday's game against Pitt. What an embarrassment. In an attempt to catch up (been away on business) I've read a lot of Buckeye ridicule and WVU envy. Now it's the other way around. In the famous words (or word as it were) of my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!!!!!!"

War Eagle, my company sent me to assist with a self-assessment at a plant within 90 minutes drive from my dad’s place. Since moving to NE, I don’t get to see him as often. He’s 86; I don’t know how much longer he’s going to be around. So, I take advantage of what travel I can.
I saw the Pitt/WVU game in his living room, the night before I caught my flight back. I’ve seen quarters, even entire halves, go like this for WVU before. I’ve never seen a game practically be a flop from start to finish. (Now, I know how AR fans felt after the game against your boys earlier this year.) So, instead of playing for all the marbles against MO or OSU, WVU plays OK; no small task to say the least. Guess we’ll have to see how it plays out.
Now, back to this hire/fire thread. What’s the latest scoop on Tuberville?

Now WV gets to find out which of the dynamic duo stays put for next year.
Tubs isn't going anywhere. His buyout is too much, and no one thinks he's worth $3M a year besides Auburn. It was all smoke and mirrors by his agent, Jimmy Sexton, in an attempt to get him Sabanesque money after a season that was pretty average--not to mention he still had 4 years left on what was already a lucrative deal.
I'm worn out from attempting to assuage worried Auburn fans on our homer sites...

war eagle @ 29: The Ags didn't go after Tuberville because we knew he would lead us to second place in the Big12 South every year. We needed someone who can win and we got him. Maybe after his time at AU is done, he can come be our DC again.

Zac, WarEag,Army 95
Look Texas A&M fired the winningest coach they ever had R.C.Slokam, they fired him after going
8-5 on the season, a record that alot of teams could live with, but not the Aggs. They hire Francione give him a few years to get things going, they beat their arch rivals UT two years in a row. This hasnt happened in many years, and coach Fran took them to 9-5 last year and this year they lost to TTech,Miami,Oklahoma & Missu
They beat Ok St, Neb and UT thats not good enough for Aggie fans. BTW Bama fans A&M beat UL Monroe. Looking at the coaching changes, from my perspective A&M and Ark both had winning programs with good coaches, both beat their toughest opponents, are competeing at the highest level in the toughest conferences and are going to Bowl games with interm coaches-???
Too many times the folks making the decesions are fat cat Alumi that are not ex-players or coaches and really dont know what the heck their doing. I'm of the opinion that CFB is really tough and a coaches future is usually dependent on wins & losses, except in some cases were extreme pressure and unobtainable expectations from arm chair quarterbacks who hold the purse strings call the shots even when a team goes 9-5 and knocks off their arch rival two years in a row.
BTW second place in the XII south is better than fourth behind OU, UT andd TTech
Hookem-Horns
BTW I was at the game in Austin when the fans from UT were chanting keep RC keep RC so he was fired, and Fran was hired.

You're first three paragraphs are babble. Take it easy on the booz tonight.
Second place is no better than 4th place (or a tie for 3rd place). 2nd place is the 1st loser.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. It was time for Fran to go.
Maybe Sherman will work out, maybe he won't, but if you don't want to win bad enough to fire a crappy coach, then you don't want to win bad enough!

#37 Army 95 Read the first three paragraphs again, they are facts- not Babble BTW I'm alcohol, Pot & tobacco free.
I was real disappointed in yalls season last year and I for one thought that, poor decisions from the coaching staff cost A&M the OU, TTech & Neb games, I watched those games. Of course the Aggies beat UT so Fran stays. I dont know what happened in yalls bowl game I didnt see it.
Now this year and every year it seems like the Aggies always have trouble on the road. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt OU, Miami, Missu and Texas Tech all on the road. I like the Aggies and just wish they could bring the same intensity that they show at home and against UT.
I'm glad yall got a new coach and I wish yall all the best in the future, but lets be realistic, the XII south is a very competetive division in the toughest conference in the country. The Aggies beat three out of five in the south including Ok St & UT,They have finished the last couple of seasons 8-5 or 9-4 that aint too bad. Got to give Fran a little credit heck he beat UT two years in a row, something that hasnt happened in a long time.

I'm glad you're on the wagon. Hope it's working out for you.
Fact is, it doesn't matter if the Ags are home or away. Last year we won everything on the road and lost a few at home. This year we couldn't beat anyone on the road.
I can appreciate your comments about the Big 12 South. It is a tough place to play and win consistently. However, it can be done with the right coach and the right talent. It's been a while since we've had either.
Bob D. would be an interesting hire, but I doubt they could get him out of the booth. We'll see.

So whoever has the purties helment and the biggest stadium gets rings & trophies.
I thought Bois helments looked purty cool except they are the same color as the feild and they have that lame shetland poney on the side, or is that a burro? No wait its a Idaho Cydesdale right out of the potato patch.
All joking aside I'd love to see Bois St play N Texas Mean Green They have better looking helments and a bigger stadium- guess thats means they get the ring & Trophie-right
Rice Stadium-Houston Texas 70,000
RICE OWls #1---- cool helments too better than Hawaii- glad they changed from that lame-ss rainbow design.

Hawaii is scared of UL Monroe!!!!!

It says something that the two highest level positions available - Michigan and Arkansas - have not yet been filled. So far, the money and glory have not overcome the incredible stress that comes with these kind of positions.
It says something about a person who posts on a blog in ALL-CAPS (a.k.a. CYBER-SHOUTING) all the time, every time. It says they should get a fire hose and perform an enema on themselves as soon as possible.

How are you liking the Johnson hire? I think things will be looking up for Tech now, especially if Tenuta stays.

#56, Hi War Eagle,
Other than Tech's blue chip QB recruit (Renfree) withdrawing his commitment, I think hiring Paul Johnson is a good thing. Renfree wants to play in a more pass-oriented system, but I'm not sure yet what kind of offense PJ will run in Atlanta (with access to more "speed talent" there). I have to agree with your remark about keeping Tenuta on staff - if he stays, it makes the PJ hiring look that much better. In general, he appears to be a solid step upward from Gailey.
Glad to hear the exterminator is keeping this board free from pests! :-)

Yea, I heard about the Renfree kid. I can understand his reasons, but Johnson isn't going to run the triple-option at Tech like he did at Navy. He'll have much better athletes and therefore more options available to him.
Tony Barnhart of the AJC says that the new Tech offense will look something more like that of West Virginia and Oregon's as opposed to Navy's.
Unfortunately, I can't remember what he used to run when he was at GA Southern...

With TO staying in the AD's seat and just about hand picking the staff and no starting WR or DB's coming back I'm not sure the NU job is that great. Pelini is walking into a situation with high expectations and lots of oversight.
Anyway based on all the new salary quotes it's a great year to be a pretty good CFB coach. Look at Briles; one conference title and no bowl wins gets you a 4X raise.

Does anyone know a site to go to get all time records and results vs. specific teams. I was hoping to find a site where I could click on a team, and see every team they've ever played and their respective records against them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I don't know how much credibility you can give rankthatcoach.com when they have Pete Carroll at #15 and Larry Blakeney (Troy) at #14. I'm pretty sure Pete is the most desirable HC in college football in the eyes of most schools and fans.

You would think SMU would at least get some of recruits at the bottom of the barrel which are still good enought to win games. The "Death Penalty" excuse has run it's course.
