Monday Morning Quick Outs

Here's some quick tidbits on stuff I'll be working on in more detail later this week:

Ball State head coach Brady Hoke is leaving the Cardinals to become the new head coach at San Diego State. No word yet on if Hoke will coach in Ball State's bowl game. I'm betting he doesn't.

Monte Kiffin will leave the Tampa Bay Bucs to become an assistant coach at Tennessee, working for his son, Lane. Somebody track down the Tennessee rules on nepotism. [Insert TE joke about it being a very thick book, here]

I saw Track Em Tigers say the Big One has hit Auburn University. I had to check Weather.com, but I guess he means the gawdawful hiring of Gene Chizik, who will be introduced today as the Tigers next former head coach. If you need another indication as to how bad a hire this is for AU, Herbstreit thinks it's a good hire. Exactly.

For everyone who wanted to see a Texas-Utah matchup, turns out it was Urban Meyer who cancelled this year's scheduled Horns-Utes game. I wonder a Texas win would have boosted UT's BCS rankings ahead of Florida, huh, Urban???
