Davis to Arkansas: Don't call me
North Carolina head coach Butch Davis left no doubt when asked about the opening at Arkansas today.
"There is no interest in the University [of] Arkansas coaching job."Asked if he could say definitely that he would not talk to any other school or listen to any other offers, Davis said: "Absolutely. You got it. Exactly what you said. Exactly."
If it were Les Miles on the other end of the microphone, I wouldn't be inclined to believe him. But -- from Butch Davis -- bank it.

Ron: Airplane banners are much more effective, especially if you wanted to target, say, a high school football game...
Okay, really. I don't want Arkansas becoming a punchline here. They'll hire somebody--just do it soon. I can't figure out who wants to take longer, Arkansas or Ga Tech.

Yeah, that sumbitch lies worser than Nick Saban, like for example, uh ... uh, well then there's the time he said uh...
Well hell, his hats look weird on him, so he must be a big fat liar.

How did this turn into a "throw Les Miles under the bus" thread? He signed the contract yesterday and he's staying at LSU. What did he say that would make you "inclined to not believe him" Kev? Just curious.

Why would I not be inclined to believe Miles... hmmm.... the comments before leaving Okie State... secretly negotiating with LSU before the Cowpokes bowl game... not going to think about Michigan yet has his agent call Michigan repeatedly...
Miles is a good coach (and he does look funny in hats) but he has a history of... ummm... speaking out of both sides of his mouth.

K-Hue, Ron, if Miles is going to Michigan, then he'd be setting the bar for Liar-Liar, making Saban seem like Billy Graham.
And if a coach *did* back out of such a commitment, would any self-respecting DI program want him?

schmed, I'm not saying that Miles is going anywhere, I'm saying that I've seen this before when he was with Okla State, he told his players and fans that there was no way he would be leaving and 4 days after the bowl game he was gone to LSU...

Schmed, well, at least we know, in addition to LSU, MI wants him. Whether or not MI qualifies for "self-respecting" this year or not is another matter.
Yes, Miles did sign a contract, BUT, there's a buy-out clause, and MI has the money. Then again, he may hang with LSU for the next 3-5 years, because now's not the right time for Miles to make this move.
Here's a perfect example. For years, it was said to have been KNOWN, that Bobby Huggins (then Cinci Head BB Coach) was a West Virginian at heart and would come home as soon as there was an opening. When WVU Head BB Coach, Gale Catlet, retired, WVU AD, Ed Pastilong, put together a 1.5 million dollar/yr package to offer Huggins. He stayed at Cinci. WVU wound up with, as luck would have it, Bob Bielein. It wasn't until Bielein left WVU, 5 years later, that Bobby Huggins decided it really was time to come home, and for less money. Go figure.
Now, I'm not about to say I've got Less Miles figured out, nor am I going to judge him. The point is, he's got to do things as he sees fit and in his own way. All we can do is sit back and wait/see.

#10 & #13 - OU-Ron, I am with you. I am still not convinced he will stay with LSU. His plans leaked before he expected them to and now he is playing the cool cat, but you really can't blame him. It is pretty bad when the media gets ahold of this stuff and lays it all out there for everybody to see before it should be made public.

Jenish, if Michigan finds a Coach in the next week or two, then it will probably be safe to say that Miles will not leave LSU, it just seems strange to me that they are having a hard time locating a Coach, especially being Michigan...

Ou Ron thanks for 16} very interesting...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz They should ask the coach from APP.State to be the head coach. If you cant beat em, join em. "The Michigan job is garbage... Lloyd Carr is garbage... and the Big 10 Conference is garbage,,, call Boise st. call Chris Peterson, he's a man, he goes undefeated, but I dont think he's 40."

coondawg, first of all, he did beat them, so your phrase, "if you can't beat em, join em" loses all relevance. Second of all, talking about something that is actually a lot more interesting that just making fun of Michigan.

I'm willing to withdraw that since he/she seems to believe that he/she can outsmart me. To quote Napoleon Dynamite (the most famous person from Idaho, even if he's not real) on what I will do next, "Whatever I feel like, gosh."

It's hard to show sarcasm on here, but I'll give it a shot: yea, you got me. It's hurts so bad I think I'm gonna cry. (Normal again) What does App. St. have to do with anything? I like Texas. I could care less about what Michigan does. You start bringing facts, then I might not just make fun of this sh#@ your talking. BOISE'S LAST 3 ROAD GAMES AGAINST BIG CONFERENCE SCHOOLS: 0-3 AND THEY HAVE A SHORTER WINNING STREAK THAN NOTRE DAME.

#2 WarEagleATL I agree with the airplane banners, and also adds in the Thrifty Nickel.
Laundrymat bulliten boards should also be considered. They should leave no stone uncovered in their seach. We should be hearing something soon and you cant blame Davis and some of the other potential applicants for turning down this position, seems like they shoulda had someone in mind prior to the removal of Nutt.
