Cats rout Michigan State, get first ranking since 2001

It's been a good two weeks of college football. So good in fact, that despite being in Chicago during White Sox World Series mania, this writer chose to PIP the Baylor/OU and LSU/Auburn 4th quarter and overtimes instead of tuning into that once in a lifetime series.

Better still was watching the Wildcats beat up on then 22nd ranked Michigan State, moving the ball with ease to a 49-14 win, and moving into the top 25. For the first time this year, the Cat defense came to play the entire game, and frustrated the Spartans on both sides of the ball.

Brett Basanez, who sat down in the 4th quarter to give the second string some needed PT, again spread the ball around the field of finally healthy receivers, while interspersing the yet-so-effective handoff to true freshman standout, Tyrell Sutton.

Next week, the Cats host Michigan in Evanston for a 6pm start that will sure to please. The Cats are ranked higher than Michigan, but I'm sure the oddsmakers will still favor the Wolverines by a touchdown or two. It should be fun.

I find it funny, when considering what Northwestern has done in the Big 10 this year, that anybody can rip on the Pac 10. Did anyone remember what ASU did to them earlier this year? I believe ASU beat them by more than 3 touchdowns. Well, currently, ASU is nearly at the bottom of the Pac 10. I hope more of the SEC fans come this way so we can embarass your conference too.

That was weeks ago. I highly doubt a Arizona NU game next week would have anywhere near the same result.

Princeton and Army used to rule college football, but what have you done for me lately?!?
Since ASU took a crap in the second half against USC they haven't done squat.
